Here's the full length reaction to RoboCop! It was about time I watched this sci-fi classic, and I had a lot of fun with this one! Enjoy!

Oh, and just so you're aware, I pushing the YT edit of this back a week! It'll hit YT the first week of December. Didn't want you to think that I just forgot about this one!

I'm going to go ahead and add A Few Good Men and 2001: A Space Odyssey to my December watchlist because it's clear that you want reactions to those as well! It'll probably be later in the month so that I can fit in a couple of holiday movies before Christmas. :)

Happy Thursday, Addie. You're REALLY on a roll with your Patreon uploads this week. I'm so glad that you enjoyed RoboCop (1987) as your THIRD Paul Verhoeven movie. I also enjoyed this one as well and I definitely have a weird thing for gruesome violence, especially in Paul Verhoeven's movies. No wonder why it makes this and his other movies have all that camp. I still recall your bloodlust during Fallout & Kill Bill. BTW, you got his last name right. And I still suggest Flesh & Blood (1985), Basic Instinct (1992) and Hollow Man (2000), three other Paul Verhoeven movies. #MorePaulVerhoevenForAddieCounts Always remember, stay out of trouble.

RoboCop is heavily inspired by the Judge Dredd 2000AD comics, from the satirical tone to the 1980s cyberpunk setting. While RoboCop has a more near-future vibe, Judge Dredd presents a much more advanced future. The Mutant Toxic Waste in RoboCop also feels like it's straight out of a comic book world. The model of Delta City strongly resembles Mega City One, a massive urban sprawl that takes up the entire East Coast of America in the 2000AD universe. There’s definitely a lot of Dredd DNA in this film. I highly recommend Dredd (2012). While it’s less satirical than the comics, it focuses more on a single day in the life of Dredd and delivers a gritty, intense experience. It's extremely underrated, partly due to its relatively low promotional budget so people missed it back in 2012, but it's grown into a cult classic over time. I place the movie near the top of my best comic book movies of all time list. There's also Judge Dredd (1995), starring Sylvester Stallone, which absolutely nailed the production design, everything looked like it was pulled straight from the pages of the comics. However, its portrayal of Dredd as a character falls short and doesn’t quite capture the essence of the source material. Personally, I’d recommend Dredd (2012). If a movie could combine the production design of Judge Dredd (1995) with the tone, cinematography, and Karl Urban’s excellent take on Dredd from the 2012 version, we’d have one hell of a film.

For anyone who only has the unrated version, it's not much longer than the theatrical cut and once you sync it back up after Murphy's extended death scene (which is where a majority of the extra footage comes in) there's no time difference between the two. Lewis kneeling beside his body is the last extended part.

I saw this movie my senior year in high school. I had never seen anything like it, and it was the first time I remember hating a villain so much in a movie, while at the same time liking him because Kurtwood Smith did such a good job with the roll. Love the story premise, and Peter Wellers portrayal of Murphy. I had only ever seen him as Buckaroo Banzai before this. Such a great, and iconic movie. The remake was not bad, but not nearly as good. The only thing I liked from the remake better is more backstory for Murphy and his family.

That "20 seconds to comply" scene in the beginning is such a classic! 😄 It really sets the tone for the rest of the movie too.

Well, I'm happy that you enjoyed this 80s gem. Its a iconic film of the era and now you've completed the Verhoeven sci-fi trilogy. Peter Weller and Nancy Allen actually have the same birthday but were born separate years. Also, Weller is actually a part time university professor/doctor, he teaches art history and history, if I'm correct, its very interesting. I can't wait for you to react to '2001: A Space Odyssey'. "I buy that for a dollar," is iconic.

This is a classic "movie we were too young to watch but we watched it anyway." Back when they made kids' toys based off rated R movies. It was even a Saturday morning cartoon for a while.
