Happy New Year everyone!! Let's start the year with some laughs!

Can't really go wrong with any of these. Superbad and Jump Street are my favorites. Both Jump Street movies should definitely be watched at some point this year.

The Dingo

It was.. I voted for it, and Police Academy and Ricky Bobby

Scot Jebens

Fun fact, The Waterboy is one of three movies I’ve ever walked out on. Sooooo bad.

Jon Anderson

There's a few crackers here, but I have a sentimental fondness for Napoleon Dynamite.

Lee Pitman

Schwing! Wayne's World.

Brian Leonard

I have only seen Police Academy and Wayne's World so I went with Police Academy.

Alex Tan

Happy Wednesday and Happy New Year, Addie! 🎉🎉 All are good choices but my votes belong to Caddyshack (1980), Wayne's World (1992), The Waterboy (1998) and Napoleon Dynamite (2004), basically half of the comedy movies listed here. But my top vote belongs to The Waterboy (1998). Time for you to heal your Kathy Bates PTSD from her Oscar-winning performance as Annie Wilkes in Misery (1990).

Byrd N. Hand

Alas, comedy polls like this will always be problematic because comedy itself is so subjective. I personally don't find any of these titles funny outside of "Caddyshack" and "Napoleon Dynamite." 🤔

Matthew Maxon

21 Jump Street pissed me off. The TV show was so good and they did THAT in the movie!!!

Scot Jebens

And why is it always the same movies in these lists? Where is Better Off Dead (1985), Real Genius (1986), Top Secret (1984)?

Byrd N. Hand

Especially given that the original TV series was more of a drama. With the movies, they pretty much just took the basic premise and made it into a lowbrow comedy. And I'll personally never get the appeal of Channing Tatum. He reminds me way too much of one of the bland, pretty-boy douchebag jocks with whom I went to school. 🤐

Aldo Gonzales

Why isn’t Kingsman nominated (again)?

Cory Morrison

Definitely looking forward to your Superbad reaction!

Byrd N. Hand

It would've apparently been a lot less funny had Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase, and Bill Murray not ended up totally hijacking the movie.

Randee Carreno

Happy Wednesday, Addie! And Happy New Year!!! 🎆🎇 All fantastic choices for this poll. Was going to vote for "Police Academy". But if that had won, I would end up recommending you watch at least through the 4th movie. However, can't go wrong with Mike Myers & Dana Carvey for some great comedy. So, "Wayne's World" got my vote for this one. Have a great day today! 😊

StrayConfusion

Fingers crossed for Police Academy!

Alexander George

Happy New Year, Addie! What better way to celebrate the new year with Caddyshack! It's a fun , crazy movie. Perfect for the new year!

Doug

I'm going with Wayne's World on this one. 🙂

Philip Davetas

I was dating a high school teacher who was offended by some of the movies I considered my favorite. So, on one of our dates she made me watch NAPOLEON DYNOMITE and I didn't laugh through most of the movie. Not that it was bad or anything, but she was getting fed up with me. "You didn't think that was funny?" But she didn't laugh either because she was upset that I wasn't laughing at it. And then she just shot straight up and started getting ready and she said, "Forget it. Let's just go drinking."

Doug

Some humble suggestions for future comedy polls (trying to pick a spread over the years). I don't see any of these on the Letterboxd list so it's looks like they're all possible for the channel (I think): - The Jerk (1979) - This Is Spinal Tap! (1984) - A Fish Called Wanda (1988) - Clerks (1994) - There's Something About Mary (1998) - Office Space (1999) - Meet the Parents (2000) - The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) - The Other Guys (2010) - Ted (2012) - The Nice Guys (2016) - The Fall Guy (2024) Happy New Year and looking forward to the movies this month! 👍

Doug

Wayne's World is leading right now, but Superbad's in second place so she might watch that too. 🙂

JBK405

Wayne's World! Wayne's World! Party time! Excellent! Woowooowoowoowoo!

Patrick Anderson

So many great choices. Talladega Nights is my favorite in this list

Byrd N. Hand

I wholeheartedly endorse the first 4 titles on your list. But in the place of the others, I'd recommend more Monty Python, the Inspector Clouseau/"Pink Panther" movies, as well as films from the Marx Brothers, Laurel & Hardy, and W.C. Fields. John Landis' "The Kentucky Fried Movie" and "National Lampoon's Animal House" as well.

Alex Tan

If I could write in a few 2024 movie suggestions for a future poll, then I'll suggest Twisters (2024) & Gladiator II (2024). And I also suggest another disaster movie poll as well, basically anything that can give you an adrenaline rush. #MoreIntenseMoviesForAddieCounts

Philip Davetas

I love THE OTHER GUYS. Gator cracks me up. That whole movie is like the baby-punching moment in THE CAMPAIGN. I'm a huge fan of THE FALL GUY (the series and flick) and they have funny moments, but I wouldn't consider them comedies.

Philip Davetas

I think both DEADPOOL and KINGSMEN have the unfair advantage of being action movies first and comedies second. They're too mix genre compared to straight comedies.

Philip Davetas

Out of those Savage Steve Holland movies, I've always like ONE CRAZY SUMMER better than BETTER OFF DEAD. But BOD is no slouch. "Two brothers... One speaks no English, the other learned English from watching "The Wide World of Sports." So you tell me. Which is better? Speaking no English at all or speaking Howard Cosell?"

Thats MR. Baldamort

You can sometimes tell the age of people who mostly watch reaction content because the older movies never win polls like this. Police Academy, and Wayne's world should be no brainers here, but alas, for the 100th time in a reaction poll, the teen raunchy Superbad is walking away with it.

Alex Tan

I would love to see Addie watch National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). TOGA! TOGA! TOGA! #NationalLampoonsAnimalHouseForAddieCounts

Doug

@Byrd - I like the Pink Panther movies and such, but I wanted to have a spread of movies in my list above that included more modern ones and not just older ones. But if I were to keep going backward in time into the '70s and prior, A Shot in the Dark and The Pink Panther are both good entries. For even older black and white comedies I was partial to Abbot and Costello personally, that's just me though. 😄 (Of the other two you mentioned I'd go with Animal House over Kentucky Fried Movie personally.)

Chris Shine

21 Jump Street is sooo underrated

LaserLamb

I'd like to suggest "What's Up, Doc?" (1972), for the next Comedy or Miscellaneous poll. One of my fave comedies ever! 👍🏻

Raj Hudek

McLovin' the vote count right now... 😏

Jasmyne

Can I pls suggest superman 3 1983??

JAKH

Comedies: "The Other Guys" (2010) "Pain & Gain" (2013) "Grosse Pointe Blank" (1997) "So I Married An Axe Murderer" (1993) "Operation Petticoat" (1959) "Down Periscope" (1996) "The Three Musketeers" (1973 version) + "The Four Musketeers:Milady's Revenge" (1974) "The Pink Panther" (1963 original) + "A Shot In the Dark" (1964) "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (1966) "R.E.D." (2010) "The Three Musketeers" (1993 version) "Central Intelligence" (2016) "Keeping Up With the Joneses" (2016) "The Whole Nine Yards" (2000) "Killers" (2010) "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" (2006)

Byrd N. Hand

Yeah, well, as I believe I've mentioned around here before, I generally just don't find more modern mainstream comedies all that funny. They've sort of become *too* broad, lowbrow, and, well, stupid for my tastes. 🤷‍♂️ The funniest films I've seen over the last 20 or so years have mostly been those made by the likes of Wes Anderson, Guy Maddin, Jim Jarmusch, Richard Linklater, and Noah Baumbach... as well as the "Trip" movies with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

Byrd N. Hand

I'd recommend all the Inspector Clouseau/"Pink Panther" movies up through "Revenge of the Pink Panther" (the last one made in Peter Sellers' lifetime). Since you mentioned "Grosse Pointe Blank," I'll also add "High Fidelity."

Byrd N. Hand

How about the last 2 "Naked Gun" movies instead? Also, are we getting a "Heathers" reaction, or did you watch that on your own?

Doug

Grand Budapest Hotel and Hit-Man are both solid entries. 👍 Noah Baumbach did Barbie but obviously that’s already on the channel. Also on the older side I think we failed to mention Woody Allen films, there are some pretty funny ones in that series too.

Alex Tan

(URGENT TO ADDIE) Since Superbad (2007) is winning this poll, I highly recommend the UNRATED Extended Edition of the movie. #SuperbadUnratedForAddieCounts

Byrd N. Hand

Rule #1 of reacting: *Always* watch both '80s mainstream *and* cult classics for your channel. 🤨

Byrd N. Hand

Yeah, I imagine it was the same reason "RoboCop" ended up winning that poll she did just before the holidays that otherwise mostly consisted of dramas. It seems people are always drawn to movies with action elements in it, even if other genres like drama, comedy, sci-fi, horror, etc. are also in there. 🤷‍♂️

MrAustincummings

Looks like superbad is going to win, but this is a tough list. Wayne's World and Caddyshack are amazing choices though.

John Tamburo

If you want something that is hilarious and weird in one go, try Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.
