Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the theatrical cut of There's Something About Mary (1998). Now I really need to watch this movie. BTW, today is my girlfriend's birthday.

Randee Carreno

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 This is a great movie! One of my favorite Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz films. For more great Ben Stiller, I very highly recommend the "Night at the Museum" trilogy. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Alex Tan

Speaking of Ben Stiller, I also suggest the Meet the Parents trilogy, the Zoolander duology, Reality Bites (1994), The Cable Guy (1996), and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2014). #MoreBenStillerForAddieCounts

In case you're all wondering which version Addie is watching, then it's the theatrical release that's 1hr 59min long.

Alex Tan

...and speaking of Cameron Diaz, I also suggest My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), Charlie's Angels (2000), the Unrated version of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003), the Unrated version of Bad Teacher (2011), Sex Tape (2014) and Back in Action (2025). #MoreCameronDiazForAddieCounts

The singer/guitarist is Jonathan Richman, a great musician who was the founder of the group The Modern Lovers and later had a nice solo career. Check out "Roadrunner" by The Modern Lovers and "That Summer Feeling" by Jonathan Richman if you aren't familiar with his music (beyond this movie). The drummer is Tommy Larkins, who has been a long-time Richman collaborator.

The snake had a lot more screen time in the extended version, just be glad you didn't watch that one 😂

Luis Fernandez

Oh... and Joan Jett did a cover of "Roadrunner" which is definitely worth checking out.

Alex Tan

You're lucky you watched the theatrical release. Whatever happened in the extended snake scene would've made you squirm. However, I must tell you that this lunar new year is the year of the snake. In Chinese culture, the snake is associated with wisdom, intuition, and mystery. It's also said to represent calmness and introspection, which are traits that can help guide life with wisdom and grace.

Luis Fernandez

Bah! Didn't mention this before and I was gonna let it slide but not-commenting made my brain itchy. Joan Jett actually released two versions of Roadrunner: one in 1986 on the "Good Music" album, and another previously unreleased version in 1997 on the "Fit to be Tied" album. Both are good versions but to me the 1997 version is far better. Ok, I think I'm done heh

Al Mason

This film features the performance of W. Earl Brown as Mary’s brother. W. Earl Brown is the most famous theatre department alumni from my alma mater (although Chrisell Strause is up there) and There’s Something About Mary was part of his big break. He also played the cameraman for Courtney Cox’s Gale Weathers character in the original Scream

Al Mason

Brett Farve could not have been much more wooden in his acting role; as a matter of fact I think a literal 2 x 4 from Lowe’s would have been able to play the role with more acting chops and charisma than Brett did

Very funny movie, 8.5 out of 10 for me. 😄 It's kind of like the National Lampoon's Vacation version of a rom-com (even down to jokes around a little dog). I think of the Ben Stiller movies I've seen, I'd put this one third after Tropic Thunder and Dodgeball. (And on a trivia note, Cameron Diaz and Matt Dillon had been in a relationship for a few years before this started filming. )

Rob M

I knew she would love Healy 😂

Steve Mercier

"How'd you get the beans above the frank?"

ButtercupsTrueLove

My suggestion for a February romance is 1978's "Heaven Can Wait".

LaserLamb

Well, it's not like his role was very big or demanding 🙄 I think he came across as a grown-up Eagle Scout who became a football player pretty accurately.

Jimmie V

Love me some Farrelly Bros. films. This and Dumb and Dumber gets lot of love, but down the line, you'll also want to check out Kingpin and the often overlooked, Hall Pass.

Al Mason

Only because he took the role away from a celebrity impersonator who could have done the role better, and because of what a terrible person he is.
