Hello friends! Help me decide... Would you like to see me react to The Hobbit movies? I would love to see more of this world/backstory, but I've heard mixed reviews and want your input!

They could be better but honestly they arent that bad. I think people who haven't read the Hobbit definitely get a bit more enjoyment out of it. There are scenes I'm not a fan of but there are some that are great.

There’s a lot of negativity around the hobbit movies but they’re still great. The criticism comes from how it’s a less faithful adaptation from the books. I really enjoyed them for what they are

I love them. Not as good as The Lord of the Rings movies (but that is nearly impossible), but still some of my faves.

This was a tough poll for me. I've been a Tolkien fan for nearly 40 of my 51 years, and even took college literature courses in the early 90's on Tolkienology and The Inklings. I've sat on numerous panels at conventions as a Tolkien expert, and I dearly love the world and characters Professor Tolkien created. Everyone. I mean EVERYONE, simply assumed that The Lord of the Rings would never be made into a major motion picture. It was simply too much of everything. The perfectionist in me grieves for the omission of parts like Tom Bombadil and The Scouring of the Shire, the film student part of me understands completely what was done and why. I have dozens of little nitpicky things I can complain about with the first three films, but the fact of the matter is that their mere existence is a miracle and I am overjoyed by what was accomplished by Jackson & Co. I am a Charter Member of the Lord of the Rings Fan Club and you'll see my name (along with hundreds of others) in the end credits of all three films. To someone who hasn't read the books, The Hobbit Trilogy of films are a fun ride. It would have been much better as two films instead of three though. I vote yes.

Can we suggest movies for you? Maybe something to add to a poll? I’d love to see you react to the classic 6 Star Trek movies. I wonder how the rest of your patrons would feel about that?

I'm not a fan of the Hobbit movies myself. The Lord of the Rings is a 1200 page story that got turned into a 12 hour movie. That's roughly 100 pages of story per hour of movie. The Hobbit is about 200 pages long, which means there's only enough story for about 2 hours worth of movie. The actual runtime of the movie trilogy is a little over 8 1/2 hours. They added 6 1/2 hours of padding to a 2 hour story and it really shows....

Absolutely. I love the Hobbit Trilogy but give it some time. Do some other films and then come back to the Hobbit in a month or so.

Exactly. The first of the Hobbit movies is pretty solid, and the rest sort of flounders a little because the tone between Hobbit and LotR is very different, as well as trying to fill three movies with material from a relatively short kid's novel.

Also, when you do the Hobbit Films, the extended editions are the best versions to do. Due to the troubled nature of the production, the theatrical versions weren't as complete as the film makers wanted and so after the theatrical release they had more time for editing the extended version, making much better films.

I think they’re perfectly fine as long as yo set expectations, they’re nowhere near as good as the original trilogy.
