Last night I got the news that my best friend, podcast cohost, and bandmate Nicky passed away suddenly. I don't know that I'll ever quite find the words to articulate just to what degree they were a beacon of optimism and of creative energy in my life and in so many others', how much their natural wisdom and exuberance challenged me to always be the best person I could be, what a constant their presence has been in my life through so many ups and downs, and how much their work has meant to me. But above all, I'm so grateful to have known Nicky these past ten years, I'm so grateful to be so close to so many other people they touched in the same ways with their boundless love and earnestness, and so I'm grateful I was able to share some of our time together with an audience who understood us so completely. I want to thank you for enjoying all of the amazing things our friendship brought out of us, and of the limitless insight, humor, and kindness Nicky had to share.
