That might be peak DC. I watched this last night and kinda haven't stopped crying about it lmao

I am SHOOKETH by that twist, and also IMMENSELY grateful that as a community, you all did not lead me astray, did not allow spoilers to reach my ears, etc. I have not felt this bamboozled but also taken care of emotionally in a while!!

So much of both seasons were preparing for us to recognize the threat/villain. I remembered how Aresia fell into villainhood because of a story she got stuck on. Same goes with Thanagar. The idea of perpetual victimhood can lead to villainy, deceit, and at its worst? Fascism! And the Justice League is so anti-fascism and corruption, while promoting chosen family, unique identity, and shadow integration, so it's perfect. This has to be one of the greatest DC finales ever, where the shock of the twist, the masked off Justice League, the painful romance were all well earned.

Thankful for you and the DCU for showing me what it truly means to be a superhero. Thank you for supporting this work--the emotions and conversations--I hope you can feel some satisfaction in knowing this is one of the best things I've watched!!

I hope everyone is having a cozy, safe holiday season! We're visiting family but will return with more Clone Wars, Marvel/DC movies, and book talks soon. Also going to start the Fallout show when I get back!! Love you 💖

A reaction I was waiting for so much! Just from the description and your amazing reaction, now you understand why this show is so iconic to so many fans. Some things to mentioned for clarification on things. Hro Talak is actually not Hawkman as he is an original character but he is based on the Katar Hol version of Hawkman. Another thing that you asked about if Hawkgirl betraying is canon. It is only to this show's universe (DCAU) as the creative team kept Hawkgirl's betrayal a secret to the point that they made an entire origin for her that was mostly fake so that it wouldn't be spoiled. You mentioning if you should be worried about Hawkgirl in the DCU from the Superman 2025 movie, I don't think so. The reason is because the version of Hawkgirl in the show is Shayera Hol but the one in the movie is Kendra Saunders. And in the comics and most other iterations, Shayera Hol actually goes by Hawkwoman and not Hawkgirl. The thing about Hawkman and Hawkgirl is that they have one of the most confusing origins because of how their story plays out in the comics, even by fans it's hard to follow. I also love that you finally got to see Wally West's face and red hair, which now you can see the difference between him and Barry Allen, at least when they have their cowls off since they sometimes do wear similar suits when they're Flash. I did love that moment that Shayera had with Alfred and reassuring her that she will always be a hero. I love how he is always there for not just Batman but the other heroes too. I know Justice League Unlimited is the sequel to this show but I really hope you check out at least the first episodes of both Batman Beyond and Static Shock first and then some of the best/notable episodes of both shows since I'm sure you won't be watching all the episodes. I only say this because there are elements from Batman Beyond and Static Shock that are in Justice League Unlimited as both shows came before Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Plus I'm really curious as to what you think of both shows since you've been safe from any spoilers for the shows. But thanks for the amazing episode to such an iconic show Meg! Hope you have an amazing rest of your year with Caleb, Yuna and Bumi. Can't wait for more DC, Marvel and Star Wars content next year!! I'm hoping you do more book talks for DC and Marvel comics like you did with Star Wars. I'm interested to see what you think of the Fallout show as thats a show I've been meaning to watch for a while. Also I hope you'll still have time to do misc reactions cause I do have some DC and Marvel lore videos for you as well as some wrestling videos too!

Best Christmas present. Glad to see you enjoyed it. Definitely the kind of story that the multi-part format was made for. As usual, Alfred is the best. Not even an alien invasion shakes him. Like the others Hawkgirl/Hawkman's backgrounds have varied with continuity and the Thanagarians are far from the most vital thing to it. More Shayera/Talak backstory to come in Justice League Unlimited, which I honestly consider an even higher peak than this, ditching the 2-part format by cutting a lot of the fat without losing any of the stories' emotional intensity. The transition to JLU is so seamless they may as well be one show with 5 seasons, though it's up to you if you want to sample Batman Beyond/Static Shock first. Happy holidays y'all, may next year be better than this one.

I've been waiting for this! I got the DVD of Starcross, and it had a mini-documentary segment where they had planned this twist from the beginning... the reaction I'm most looking forward to once you've done most of the animated DC films is the Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths movie trilogy, but I highly recommend you don't rush into them too soon as there's a massive suprise spoiler in the third film...

About your question about Hawkgirl in Superman (2025). That’s actually Kendra Saunders who is a separate, distinct character from Shayera Hol. There are multiple characters who take on the mantle of “Hawkgirl” Kendra is a human Latina woman who grew up on Earth while Shayera is a Thanagarian police officer. Neither are the original Hawkgirl who goes back to the golden age. Shayera was also going by “Hawkwoman” by the time Kendra turned up. Hawkman / Hawkgirl lore is some of the most convoluted and heavily retconned in all of DC. The Thanagarian alien element is only sometimes a factor. Reincarnation and Ancient Egypt is another big thing in their lore. The most consistent element across all the different iterations is actually the presence of nth metal. They also have lots of ties to Vandal Savage in their history

Can't wait for Justice League Unlimited!!

ShiyaHawk

Justice League and Justice League Unlimited are some of the best series to ever be created. I do highly suggest you watch some Batman Beyond before going into JLU. There will be a few episodes referencing stuff from BB. Episodes recommended: Rebirth and The Call Also recommend watching Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker movie as you'll see what happened to the Bat family prior to BB. If you don't go the route of watching some BB episodes before JLU, I HIGHLY encourage you skip JLU episode Epilogue until you do watch some BB. There's a few Static Shock episodes you should watch as well to introduce you to the character before JLU. Shock to the System, A League of Their Own, Fallen Hero

Maybe static shock first then justice league unlimited Batman was always part of the justice league. He just wasn't a full timer. He was only a part-time member. To answer your question about Jon being in the mind of that birdman soldier; it had nothing to do with the old god they once worshipped. Jon was trying to get to the core of his mind since he couldn't read it at all, and the fire he dumped over was his protected memories, so once he was able to get it all out he seen everything he needed

At the very least there are like 10 episodes that are must watch for Static imo. The Pilot, the Gun Violence episode, Shaq Episode etc.
