People said Monster is darker than Haikyuu, but it's not one of the darkest stories ever :D There are some dark moments in the series too. So many people have been murdered right before our eyes in the story already. And we get to see even more dark moments! But of course, there are so many human stories and moments too. It's a great show!

Frieren The Hamburger Slayer

Speaking of Frieren. I know we still have 5 months left before Frieren season 2 comes out, but I highly recommend you girls you rewatch season 1 if you ever have time before the new season comes out. Also I completely agree with you two there are so many moments in monster that make you feel warm inside, this is one of the many reasons why I really love this show.

Ain’t no way this show can be put in the same category as Frieren lol maybe I’m being too harsh but I remember watching the first three episodes of Frieren and quitting after that because I couldn’t find the main character as interesting as Tenma or Anna. But maybe after 3 episodes if gets better..? Also it doesn’t help that the setting is medieval fantasy and isekais have killed all my interest in any show that take places in that setting (with the exception of Berserk manga of course lol).. maybe I should give another chance to Frieren if it’s getting compare to Monster..

A great show to watch after Chainsaw Man might be Pluto. It’s by the same author of Monster and is based on Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy. It’s only 8 episodes, so it will fit perfectly before Frieren Season 2. Maybe you could rewatch some episodes of Frieren (or watch a couple of anime movies) to fill the rest of the schedule. Just a suggestion for the next poll.

My suggestion is to give Frieren a second try. Three episodes aren’t enough to really judge it, and almost everyone recommends watching at least the first four episodes. Even if some people click with it from the start honestly, on my first watch I didn’t feel truly immersed until episode 5 or 6, and even then it still felt like the story was in its preface. For me it’s in the next arc from episodes 7 to 10 that the story really shows what it has to offer and the kind of storytelling the viewer can expect. Now I understand it better, and each rewatch feels like a masterpiece from the very beginning.

I recently rewatched the Summit War Arc in Naruto with a reacter. And it seems people have simply forgotten what fillers were: The worst pile of trash a person could imagine. He had to fast-forward through several episodes, and his mods have made it their mission to find the timestamps in the future so that he can fast-forward more easily because that was a horrible watch experience with repeating flashbacks, stupid dialog and accidently skipping scenes by pressing fast-forward. And the next few Arcs in Naruto are so much worse with filler. People who call calm Monster episodes filler should just keep watching Demon Slayer and Solo Leveling.

I absolutely love Naoki Urasawa's writing; he knows how to capture every nuance of a human being when writing his characters. Regarding Monster being dark, it really is in many moments, but always with a beautiful message behind it, with appreciation and respect for people. Most of the things Haikyuu fans said in that poll were just dirty play (which is okay, everyone has their own strategies 😂) but I'm happy to see how much you're enjoying the story.

Episodes like this are what makes Monster the masterpiece that it is. For all the rightful praise Johan gets as a villain its really the side characters who truly give color to this entire story. There's one "side" character who shows up later on that EVERYONE falls in love with and is honestly probably one of the best "side" characters EVER in Anime. Its so sad that these are the episodes people point out as making the show feel "slow". But these episodes are so important to the type of story Monster is telling.

From a commenter on Youtube: 17:13-17:27 This part is mistranslated. What he said was: “It was unbelievable to think that Robert had committed murder. But he did, and the fact that I couldn’t sense what was going on with my own son, made me realise it was time for me to turn in my badge. But you know something, i want to have confidence in my own intuition again.” The subtitles you're using don't do the dialogue justice. I definitely suggest yall look into better/different subtitles. Honestly the dub for this show is AMAZING and would better convey alot of what the above scene said than your current subtitles.

11:32 I mean, wouldn't that make him a good detective if he can sense those type of things? Tenma is obviously a decent person, but at the end of the day he is on a journey to kill someone. Any character that suspects of him being up to something is technically right.

I watched Monster for the first time in 2011. My thought after watching it was that it was the single best written piece of fiction I had ever experienced in any form. I still think so.

It was funny to me when you were talking about monster in haikyuu reaction like you needed to prepare yourself as if monster would be the most depressing show ever lmao. I know that monster had been recommended for you for years but I wasn't following you back then so I don't know what people told you about it but you shouldn't have take into consideration things that were said in the poll because we were at war lol. I'm so happy you're loving it so far, this manga is amazing and I knew it'd be perfect for you two <3
