just in time for dinner ❤️

ksg

many bothans have been waiting for this iykyk

Nina

Lol yes you got it, that's Stellan Skarsgard, the oldest of the Skarsgards.

Robert Dirk H.

LOL. YouTube is translating Andor in "and/or" :D

Brakthir

im so happy you guys are doing this

Sam

Don’t worry Skarsgard’s character is an Andor original character so you don’t need to know anything about him yet, same for 99% of the cast

Kara

Really good reaction, I can feel y'all getting pulled in. We're all trying to find whoever said that thing about the Rogue One edits, it literally could have been any of us!!! 😬😭 .......... I was waiting for Milena to pop for Fiona Shaw, she's so good in everything including this. Though I will still never forgive Carolyn for what she did. The story about the geography teacher was crazy, imagine trying to only teach 5000 years of geography. pangea really moved fast wow! Yeah I warned you but there are going to be some episodes where it's gonna be physically painful to stop, so much worse than this 😩 yeah someone else did say that Syril Karn (police officer guy) has huge Pete Campbell energy. All I could picture was Pete giving that awkward speech. Syril is a cop but you can see he genuinely believes what he's doing and thinks it's disgusting his boss told him to cover up the killing of 2 cops. Of course his boss was completely right about why the cops died but still, it's understandable motive. I also think there's value in seeing this Linus Mosk character (the angry scottish cop). So many enforcers IRL have this mentality, they're foaming at the mouth desperate to enact violence on a legally deserving enemy. 'Criminals', 'Terrorists', 'Illegals', doesn't matter to them. "The best way to keep the blade sharp is to USE IT" um actually that's the worst way to keep the blade sharp lmao, but chop away i guess! Tim is a lil snitch bitch but I like that you can immediately see the regret when Bix turns up + its obvious she's not having an affair with Cassian he's like "oopys i've made a huge mistake". of course, he still has sex with Bix and doesn't tell her lmao. even in a galaxy far far away, he's still only human. One of the cool things about Andor that isn't gonna feel unique to you is that everything feels really grounded and "real". the sets, the acting, the writing, the relationship dynamics. for long-time Star Wars fans this is a big difference - Star Wars is famously very heightened, operatic, fantastical, with somewhat cringe (but iconic) dialogue. So for Andor to feel like a 'prestige TV drama' is crazy for us like wait, we could have been telling these stories this way the whole time? holyyyy

Brakthir

So a little background, the planet kid Cassian was on was most likely a mining planet, which is why you saw all the gouged out ground and bare earth. Stripping the planet of its resources. The kids also seem to be wearing clothes that look like miner clothes. Maybe their parents were miners on this planet.

Kara

I also don't think there's any value in saying "oh yeah that character turned up in XYZ", the show teaches you how to watch it + contains everything you need to know.

SoClose

Perfect thing to watch to help me sleep. This show is like free melatonin.

Not really related to Andor but since you mentioned Natalie Portman and Black Swan, may I offer a small suggestion? If possible, please avoid watching Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan (2010) before seeing Satoshi Kon’s anime movie Perfect Blue (1997). (This is not a suggestion for making a reaction video—rather, I just think it might be better even for watching in your own time) By comparing the two, you may notice that many elements of Black Swan—both in terms of narrative structure and visual language—closely resemble those in Perfect Blue, with some scenes almost feeling like one-to-one recreations. This is why the controversy over Aronofsky “borrowing” or even plagiarizing from Kon has quite a strong basis. Personally, I find it frustrating that Black Swan received so many Academy Award nominations, while Perfect Blue never received the recognition it truly deserved.

Kara

don't worry 💖 in order to watch Black Swan (2010) they would have to watch any movies 🥰

BigJo H

You’re boring now, stop forcing it. It’s pathetic

The exploration and portrayal on how the everyday person, like Syril, get caught up in the facist machine is my favorite part of this show. It is so well written and believable. As a kid i always wondered “why do ppl sign up to be stormtroopers?” and this show literally shows you how it happens…AHH I LOVE THIS SHOW’S WRITING SO MUCH 😭

Kara

big agree, also stormtroopers by design are a faceless nameless enemy and this show with its unmasked corporate cops shows why dehumanizing their soldiers would benefit an empire. like say, certain law enforcers wearing masks to hide identity right now.

Berezant

Ah yes, Natalie Portman. The actress famous for her work in *checks notes* Mars Attacks? 🤣

Mike

OK, add Black Swan to the (definitely real) watch list for upcoming (definitely real) movie reactions. Incredible movie.

Julmor

Your reaction to Stellan Skarsgårds character showcases how good your instincts are. Its genuinly kinda hard to say if hes "a good" or a "bad guy". Also, Lolas interest in the prequals make sense. On paper, a heros fall from grace seems likea great concept on paper. The main problem is the writing and George Lucas full creative control. The original trilogy worked largely because other people than Lucas did most of the heavy lifting: writing, editing and directing. Lucas just isnt talented or humble enough to do all of that on his own.

Can’t express how thrilled you’re watching Andor! Episode 3 is going to be lit 🔥

Dante

It literally says in the episode Kenari is abandoned after an Imperial mining accident...

My Toasty Toast

Lola seeing a tribe of kids with no adults or elders in sight: “where are the adults? I don’t see anyone over 25” The Mining Pit: “I don’t know 👀 …they left.”

Kara

oh my god...... all the adults transformed into mining equipment...

Nice reaction! Just one little thing: Some of your videos get this automatic dubbing where a robot voice talks in a different language instead of the original English depending on where Youtube thinks I am. It's only a mild annoyance, I can turn it off with two clicks. But apparently, the video's uploader can disable this automatic dubb for their channel, so it'd be great if you could do this and save us all some clicks! (Although the title translations tend to be so wrong that they're funny...)

I hope people can refrain from telling them how to watch Star Wars and how the correct order is and what movies are good. None of that is relevant to just watching Andor. I’m someone who knows who Mara Jade is, read books with her as a new character, so trust me I know. But people who don’t know don’t care and don’t really need to.

Mahni Alizadeh

Prequels are both loved and hated depending on your age lol. I love them but uhhh they are certainly flawed

Kara

you cant truly understand andor until you've done full playthroughs of KOTOR 1 and 2, obviously

Jeff Mills

For what it’s worth, I’ve followed you on YouTube since Fallout. I’ve come back for The Last of Us, Cowboy Bebop and the Boys. But after your first episode of Andor on YouTube, I immediately subscribed because I cannot wait for the release schedule over on YT.
