been loving watching your guys’ untamed reactions. just wanted to comment below because i love the comparison to anakin from star wars. one of my fav characters (as well as wei wuxian funnily enough) and i absolutely loved seeing his fall to the dark side. i’m one of those people that loved the prequels as well lol.

There sadly probably never will be second season. The Chinese danmais have usually just one season that covers the whole story of the novel and has a really lot episodes (usually around 50 like with The Untamed).

Yes, "Suibian" means "Whatever" (they do translating it in some versiond of the subtitles but sadly not in yours). "Chenqing" (the name WWX gave to his flute) means "setting forth one's thoughts and explaining one's actions". The change in WWX's personality is so obvious even in the way he's naming his things now vs how he was naming them before. The reason, why he didn't let his sister to touch his flute wasn't because she physically couldn't (like with Zidian, which btw literally means "purple lightning", which let's just certain people touch it) but because he's possessive about it.

So the whole big deal with the swords. In this world's mythology, their cultivation ("powers") is based on their qi energy (energy from living that they can get more of thanks to certain practices like meditation) that's accumulated in their golden cores. The swords are tools that help with cultivation, just like other things that are sometimes specific for certain clans, like the zther (guqin) for the Lan Clan. Without their swords, their cultivation can never be that strong, so the fact that WWX has to give up his sword and doesn't bear it with him is extra suspicious. It means he doesn't need it anymore. That he's using something else to cultivate. When WWX hears LWJ talk to YanLi about swordsmanship being the only proper method to cultivate qi energy, he gets so angry because he knows LWJ figured out what he's doing and is afraid that he told his sister. But LWJ is loyal and loves him; he can be angry with him, but he would never tell his secrets to anybody (just like he didn't tell them to Lan XiChen when he asked him earlier).

Fun fact: Notice that when YanLi asks LWJ if he's there to see WWX, he doesn't answer but looks down (38:41), which means "Yes," and it's used multiple times in the future. So you can focus on it in the future when he doesn't give an answer; every time he looks down, he's agreeing.

"Xichen, are there rules already set for everything in the world?" At this point in the story, we are focusing on how much WWX is changing, but just this sentence shows how fundamentally LWJ changed. LWJ, who was in charge of punishments in Gusu because he knew the rules and never even thought about questioning them, is now questioning one of the essential ones. "Do not befriend evil." Brian, you said it beautifully: "Lan Zhan already senses the darkness in WWX, but he still wants to believe in the good in him." He sees what WWX is doing; he knows it's against all of his rules, and that would mean he's bad, but he knows in his heart that he isn't. And because the rules would label him as bad, he starts questioning the rules.

I would definitely not complain if you started doing two episodes per week, but you are right, this also has a certain charm to it, and it does allow you to more deeply live through the story and become familiar with the characters and everything.

I know we already talk about him on Discord, but I decided to answer here as well (if someone watching your reaction was interested in an answer and came to the comments for it). The name of the "sexy father" is Nie MingJue, titled Chifeng-Zun, which means "Red Bade Master" (I really wonder why they translate some titles in the subtitles and others in Chinese). Also, I don't know if you remember this, but he's an older brother of Nie HuaiSang, the silly WWX's friend with a fan.
