I don't know where you've been, but that's a scam. Look for pubs out of turistic zones. You would be surprised how much cheaper it is.

Sometimes it happens the other way around. You go to a “cheaper” country and get charged more than back home.

nah, 4-5 euros is an average price for a pint of good beer in France in a pub. Of course in the supermarket it's much cheaper :)

"go to a foreign country, it would be fun" they said.... quick tip. get a shot of the strongest liquor (150 proof or higher if possible) they have and a glass of soda or juice. mix the two and that's your drink of choice for the night. some bars soda is free so your only paying for the shot.
