To be honest, I was very disappointed with the quality, or rather the lack of Russian localization in the game. I can understand about the subtitles, but couldn't they have translated the pre-written text for the game into the localization declared in the game? In fact, apart from the main menu, nothing else has been translated. The entire storyline, quest log, etc. are in English even when Russian localization is selected. I would also like to note that the quality of the homosexual bed scene is much lower than that of the heterosexual scene. In the homosexual scene, the quality of the faces is much lower, and at the end, the faces are not visible at all because of the sun. I understand that perhaps the authors were in a hurry, but text localization for a game based on AI achievements should be a given, since we are paying for it, or at least there should have been a free post before the release with information stating that the released chapter is essentially pre-alpha in terms of localization quality, etc. Translated with DeepL.com

I enjoyed this first instalment. I'll be honest, I was a little dissapointed that you were using AI to make 'live action' game but I see there is effort being made here. One thing I hope will happen with this game is that there are more explicit sexual scenes between characters, even if it's side stories or memories, or whatever. Using AI to just make a bunch of nude shots is going to be frustrating.

I really like the game, I think this is a very promising start. Sure, there are some bugs and glitches but that is to be expected for an early version. What I hadn't expected is to feel so involved in the storyline already. I am really looking forward to where all of these threads are going, it's extremely promising. One thing I haven't been able to shake though is my discomfort with the LGBT off slider. Maybe it's just the wording for me. If it was labeled 'play as straight', that would feel different. I totally understand the intent to make players more comfortable, that makes perfect sense. But this is only designed to make a certain type of straight player more comfortable, there is no comparable option for gay players to exclude straight content. It is an odd choice, considering that the kind of straight player that needs an option to turn off LGBT content is highly unlikely to even become a subscriber to the patreon. Unless of course that there is gay content that would be otherwise unavoidable, whereas there is no similar straight content that would be equally unavoidable. But maybe that's just me.

Unfortunately, the quality of the heterosexual sex scene in the game is also several orders of magnitude better than the gay sex scene, so it seems that the developer has moved away from the concept of a gay game and decided to cover as many orientations as possible. In addition, the next chapter and the last chapter will be narrated by female characters, so we will likely see more lesbian content than gay content in their chapters, in addition to heterosexual content.

I really enjoyed it, I never expected to play a cinematic story game at the gay indie level, it's kind of revelatory about what AI can do. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what model did you use to make the videos for Jotun?

KKChar

I got an AI artist to do it. To my knowledge, it's a locally hosted model.

Hallo, KKChar, nice to read your comments about Jotun. I was suprised by this sentence: "we spend twice as much time and money to make the gay sex scene. " If so, I would strongly suggest to consider the overal amount of cinematic sequences. So far, Jotun is more like movie with game moments. IMO, if you reduce the amount of cinema by 50 % and substitute some scenes with static renders, the game can be still visually appealing, persuasive in terms of the plot development (now I sometimes wonder, why we have to see this or that scene, as we do not participate on them), and mostly, you will have more money to do gay scenes in the same quality as the hetero. Please, think about it. - As an old patron, I would like ask also, if we will get the Epilogue of Ergi polished in next future. Thanks a lot :-)

KKChar

We appreciate your support and feedback Pilgrim. However, static render does not cost less than cinematic scenes. Besides, it's a technology limitation. I can throw ten times more money and it will not come out any better. I want to make a game center around the story, not sex. If that's what you're looking for, then Jotun will not meet your expectations. Kire is helping to compile the bugs for Ergi. We will work on them once it's done. You can wait for the public release version if you do not want to play / support Jotun. Some ergi issues require entire overhaul because many artists and programmers worked on it. As such, we can't be certain that a patch fix will be bug free.
