The guy who plays Ed Kemper is brilliant.

Jessica

Now that you’ve seen episode 2, you should check out the Mindhunter vs Real Life segment about Ed Kemper. They edit show clips and his real interviews together. It’s so scary when the dialogue overlaps. https://youtu.be/FDYBmNYc8IA

Great intro my brother 🤣🤣🤣

The killer in episode 1 (mother and child killed) is intimated to be BTK, yes? Being from very close to Braddock, PA, I need to look up that hostage situation and see if it's historically accurate. It probably is knowing this show.

Any other patrons watch and enjoy Bates Motel??

AngryGreen

Haaaang on a minute. Have you seen Hamilton? The musical, I mean. If not after this series you need to... 👀

foxtaco

I tried hamilton, and..that one isn't for me. This is the best piece I could find that explains my thoughts. https://youtu.be/JGQLryUHP0g?si=UwWwKCCSlYMjMxSv Some small difference but as a man who is from the DEEP south..I couldn't really vibe with black rapping slave masters beatboxing to me ..no shade to anyone else who loved it. Our experiences are different. I've actually seen alot of black people enjoy it..Frankfreezy loved it!!if you havent checked his reaction out im sure its great

This is one interesting comment that I found about that first case "I know this is five years later, but I am from Iowa, so I was curious about this. I think that case was loosely based on the killing of Priscilla Strole in 1983. They didn’t solve the case until fingerprints and dna evidence were run again by a cold case team in 2014. The killer turned out to be a 17 year old friend of Priscilla’s son who was 15 at the time of her murder. Unlike in the series, the son was not home when the crime occurred." And here are some information about that hostage situation. Key Real-Life Details from the Case: The Suspect: He was a bank robber who barricaded himself in a warehouse after leading police on a chase. The Demands: He asked to have his wife brought to the scene. The Outcome: He eventually killed himself with a shotgun. John Douglas's Involvement: Douglas, the inspiration for the main character Holden Ford, was at the scene with a sniper team, observing the incident. The show fictionalizes the event to fit the narrative, with the specific details and Holden's direct involvement in the negotiation being part of these liberties. Despite the fictionalization, the fundamental elements of the incident remain consistent with the real case described by John Douglas.

I've only watched this series once. I was very disappointed - like everyone else - when it didn't get renewed. I am looking forward to the rewatch with you!

God I miss this show. It is a masterpiece and a standout performance for Jonathan Groff (Holden).

I'm just getting started to catch up on this show with you. I was born in 1962 and this is a very fair representation to what the country was like in the late 70s. The vernacular, music, dress and just the attitudes. It isn't that people weren't as smart or open back then it was just a far different world than we are in now.
