I know what I’m doing tomorrow

Ebraheem Farag

Thanks for posting man, I couldn’t wait for the youtube post! I had to subscribe and experience the tears with you :)

Paul Martin

Welp. Who cares about sleep. Lol I just finished watching it with you. Man I have so many thoughts. I love these films so much,. I couldn’t wait. This was fun. I’ll talk more tomorrow.

Robert the Bruce

Fantastic reactions👌. LotR were my favorite movies since the first time I've seen them as a kid and they haven't been topped yet. They are something really special.

Ebraheem Farag

Something like this is written in the the book: -The hands of the King, are the hands of a healer-

YYZHawk

Theoden's speech and the Ride of the Rohirim is GOATED. One of the greatest scenes in cinema history!!

creaturemo

By the way quick little fact. When Legolas shoots an arrow as a warning to the ships and Gimli taps his bow causing him to hit one of the guys, the guy it hits is Peter Jackson lol. He also had a cameo in the two towers as one of the soldiers throwing rocks down at the Uruk-Hai in Helms Deep.

Richard Rodriguez

What are those songs? They were really good and enjoyable.

foxtaco

Thanks brother 1st is " Tek it" by Cafune sped up version..2nd was "Ragoo" by King of Leon and the 3rd is "This is the Life " Two Door Cinema Club

foxtaco

Right I saw that hahaha..literally made him kill thr guy 🤣🤣..and thanks I would of never caught the double cameo

Shannon

Dude! Just finished re-living that movie with you. I can honestly say that you have the most true reactions that I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Beautiful! Can't wait to see what reactions you post in future 😊

creaturemo

Oh and also most of the riders of Rohan that you see are the women that actually own the horses used for filming haha.

foxtaco

Thanks Brother..about to record GLADIATOR right now hoping it's a banger as well

As mentioned in previous comments, we never get to experience this again for the first time. That is why we love to watch other people get that experience for themselves. It brings back some of those first emotions again. Thank you for sharing that with us. That last moment when Frodo smiles as he boards the ship always leaves me sobbing. His journey was so painful and transformative he could never be whole again properly no matter the outcome. That smile is the first sign of true peace for him. There is always so much I want to say throughout the reaction and I'm sure (especially on Youtube) people will fill you in with most of it. I always try to avoid being one of those 'in the book...' people but some scenes like the one in the houses of healing with Eowyn and Faramir just make more sense after reading them. Again thank you for letting us follow you on this journey and I'm glad I got to experience it with you.

Nathan Burns

Frodo being a ringbearer as well, was invited to Valinor(Homeland of the elves). His wounds would never fully heal in middle-earth. After Sam grew old he would join Frodo there as well.

SwissFemShep

I have seen the trilogy countless times, what makes the films so special and unique for me is the fact that the emotions are still present even after watching it 10, 20 or more times. I still cry at countless scenes or get goosebumps because music and image tell so much♥️ As for the film, Theoden did not recognize Eowyn on the battlefield, he saw a brave warrior who gives everything to protect his king🥲 so when he sees her at the end I think he but two and two together. And Eomers scream when he finds his sister, incredible!

Thor Agust

"I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil" I don't think that line was only for the hobbits :)

foxtaco

I'm Glad you Joined me as well..yea this was one of the greatest if not the greatest movie experience I've ever had...and I'm so glad it's documented and I can watch it again and again

foxtaco

Aahh ok Bernie, yes I was a bit confused by that initially..thanks for clarifying

Thor Agust

( sorry that I got a little carried away in this comment but the movies were epic the books were epic so this comment might as well be epic) , I just want to highlight a few characters Peter Jackson did dirty, Denethor is a strong and honorable man but he was understandably run down from mentally battling Sauron for many years through the Palantir and actually holding his own, one of very few that could do that. Denethor was moved to tears by Pippins noble gesture of pledging to serve him in honor of Boromir (Gandalf complimented Pippin for it, he didn't hit him with his staff) in fact Denethor treated Pippin so well that a rumor spread that Pippin was a "prince of the small folk", this had the wonderful affect that when pippin was wandering Minas Tirith the guards stood to attention and any soldier that he spoke to felt very honored that someone of his importance would talk to them as equals... Gimli was not comic relief but stoic and proud, matching Legolas in wit, combat and long distance running, it was harder for Gimli but he did not show it. when Gimli asked for nothin but to look upon Galadriel's beauty one more time that could not be matched by all the gems and treasures in all the mountains of Middle earth. In that moment, Galadriel, loudly declared that from now no elf in her kingdom shall "stereotype" dwarfs as simple and greedy, But what made elves treat Gimli like royalty anywhere he met elves after that, is because of those three hairs she gave him when he asked for one. Gimli was thankful but he had no idea what those three hairs actually meant. a moment thousands of years in the making. After that day saying anything remotely negative about Galadriel in Gimli's presents would make him square up and you could ether apologize for your ignorance and disrespect or fight to the death, no joke, but with one exception, when Eomer said that Arwen had to be the most beautiful creature in middle earth, Gimli turned to Eomer ready for a fight but gave him a pass because Arwen's beauty was such that even though Eomer was wrong, he could see how he might think so. And now for maybe the the last character you would think got a raw deal. Éowyn, in the Books she isn't just another soldier on the field, She is a true shieldmaiden of Rohan, an aura of power, confidence and of someone truly at home in battle, She was so intimidating that the witch king of Angmar took a step back when facing her, the witch king was standing between her and Theodin so Éowyn pointed her sword at Sauron's most powerful servant and said:” you can either move or I’m going through you” and not a hint of doubt in her voice, she defeated the witch king not on the technicality of being a woman . She defeated him because she was the best warrior for the job and just happened to be a woman so the prophecy stood

You bow to no one.

I subscribed to your Patreon in order to watch your full length reactions to this trilogy. I plan to rewatch them over the next month, and will probably come back with some additional comments about some of your observations. But I did want to make sure I responded to your question about why Frodo left with Gandalf at the end. It is very common for reactors to be confused, and even a little upset at Frodo’s parting from his friends at the end. But I think you answered this very question yourself when you were watching the Two Towers. When Sam gave his speech at the end of the Two Towers, and he was talking about epic stories, he said something about not wanting to know the end, because how could it be happy after so much darkness. And you stopped the video at that moment to comment on how things as awful as war can make it hard, or even impossible to go back to life beforehand. I know that I am paraphrasing and not quoting you directly, but you said something with a similar idea to that behind it. And in that moment I thought, he is going to get it when Frodo is unable to return to his normal life. I have seen other people already leave comments about Frodo’s experience being something akin to PSTD. The author, Tolkien was always very clear about Lord of the Rings not being an allegory for any real life historical experience. The books were published shortly after World War II and many people over the years have tried to compare the story to the battle against Nazi Germany. But Tolkien rejected this. As a scholar and lover of ancient epic sagas, he was wanting to create his own version of that type of thing. He felt that stories of that nature were very important for humans to experience. At the same time, he did fight in World War I as a young man. And it was during this war that he lost most of his very close childhood friends. And he saw the long term effects of war on the young men who came back physically and mentally altered. I feel that some of that lifetime experience crept into his story. Frodo has been permanently damaged by his contact with the Ring. And the injury from the stabbing by the Witch King never healed. The anniversary of that injury each year would find him fall into a comatose state. And as you noticed, when Frodo is boarding the ship, and turns back to smile at Sam and the other hobbits, it is the first time that we have seen a true genuine smile on his face for quite a long time. To me, this was symbolic of the fact that this journey to the Undying Lands would finally allow him to find peace.

Angela

This movie has me crying even after 20 years. Frodo was so tortured by the ring mentally he couldn’t truly find peace like Sam Merry and Pippin. Also, his wound never healed and he was suffering from that. The undying lands would give him that peace and healing he needed. It’s bittersweet. Frodo truly gave the ultimate sacrifice by carrying the ring. I agree with you that I would love to chill with Gandalf lol. Sam eventually gets to go to the undying lands since he held the ring for a short period of time. Legolas also goes and brings Gimli with him.

David Mad

A very perfect and elegant explanation! I would also add that Frodo left partly so that Sam could live his own life, with his family (and as mayor of Hobbiton), rather than being torn between being his own man, and Mr. Frodo's faithful servant & ride or die.

I'm run a Q/A just to answer every question you ask, 1) Mithrandir is a name the Gondorians give to Gandalf. (He is also Incanus In Rhun, Tharkun in Harad, Old Grey Beard, Big Grey Beard, Lathspell. Guardain of the Third age, The White Rider, The White Pilgrim. MOST IMPORTANTLY his real name is Olorin his actual name. Before ("God" a very loose description) sent him to Middle earth to serve as an ambassador and protector.) 2) Why Frodo needed to leave middle earth? He was still being hurt by what the Ring did to him and he still was suffering from when the Wraiths stabbed him, He was slowly turning into a Wraith himself even though it was slowed down alot. He was going with Gandalf to Valinor. The homeland of the Elves. There he would never again feel the pain or continue turning into a wraith.

foxtaco

Thanks fox, also saw you might me interest in editing.. we can definitely discuss that if you're up to it

Frodo's behavior took me the longest to understand throughout the films, his blind sympathy for Smeagol through everything that proved he was beyond saving. But that's just it, he needed to see that what was effecting him could be saved. He was desperate for it even. And being in that place who could blame him, going through so much trauma, he felt that he needed to know that there was an semblance of a chance of normalcy. A key line in the 2nd film, Frodo: "Because I have to believe he can come back." Sam: "You cannot save him, Mister Frodo." Frodo (angrily): "What do you know about it? Nothing!". Another big one, in the first film when he got to see how much it effected his uncle Bilbo when they were in Elrond, that image definitely stuck with him. "I'm sorry you have to bear this burden" The pressures of his mission were also a key factor to add onto that, his belief that Gandolf fell must've been confusing as hell when he woke up and saw him again, along with everyone else lol. Such good character writing

Your reactions to this trilogy have been absolutely amazing. It was such a joy to join you on this journey. Thank you so much for sharing with us! Also, I highly recommend watching all the behind the scenes features. Your appreciation for the music and the design suggests to me that you might really enjoy them! It's truly tremendous that amount of work that was put into creating the world of Middle Earth for these films. (And if you happened to record yourself watching said behind the scenes features, I'm sure many of us wouldn't mind joining you on that journey as well ;)

Frodo wrote it. Some wounds go too deep. He had been poisoned by the Morgul blade of the Witch King, and contaminated to the core by Sauron's mind crawling all through him. He had actually succumbed to them. He had walked too far down the path toward Gollum. These wounds and inner breakage never heal. Frodo had morbid PTSD. Only among the Elven Folk could he find some measure of forgetfulness and peace. Tolkien fought in the trenches and encountered the first gas attacks at The Battle of the Somme during World War I. He knew many who continued to suffer their experiences for the rest their sometimes tragically short lives. One of the ways he survived was he began writing elaborate fantasy stories. He went, periodically to live among the Elven Folk.

In case nobody told you, the director Peter Jackson filmed all three movies simultaneously; out of sequence, of course. This trilogy is the pride of New Zealand, where it was filmed in it's entirety. The little Kiwi Bird ROARED.

Tumbili

I couldn't wait for part 3 on YouTube. It was an honor, joy, and pleasure watching this with you.

Alex

Denethor was done dirty in the film, mostly because his actions are never really explained. He was a tragic man in the books, in the film they couldn't really explain it all without a heap of exposition. When asked by Boromir why he hadn't taken the throne, or when the stewards might be able to take it, Denethor said in Kingdom as noble as Gondor they wouldn't even discuss replacing the king in 10,000 years.

Tys van Zeijl

loved your reaction to the Rohirrim charge. Isn't that shit just the greatest thing in cinamatic history? Pulling off a feat like they did with this trilogy for that time period will never be recreated I thnk.

Tys van Zeijl

Almost at the end of the reaction. Crying right along with you bro, even though i've seen the trilogy 50 times. I find the older I get, the more the story touches me. You're also the first and only person thus far i've found it worth it to sign up on patreon for.

foxtaco

It was a culmination of every feeling through the entire journey..what a pay off🙏🏿

Tys van Zeijl

57:06 Mithrandir is the Elven name for gandalf. Gandalf is not even Gandalfs real name, which is Olorin (how he, as one of the Maiar, is called in Valinor) Just like Elessar is Aragorns Elven name. Remember that Tokiens writing all started with making up words and names, which led to making up entire languages, which in turn led to Tolkien realizing that words by themselves are meaningless and needed a history or story. im sorry for posting repeatedly, I hope you are doing well!

Tys van Zeijl

Peter jackson's most famous lotra cameo is as the guy eating a carrot in Bree. His kids also star in each movie. The cute kids who listen to Bilbo at his party. Some children hiding in the glittering caves at helms deep. And in RotK as children standing at the side of the road when faramir and his soldiers are about to sacrifice themselves at Osgiliath.

Daniel Rivera

I second this. More content for your patreon too. Almost no one watches them on YT and they are awesome.

Daniel Rivera

I should also add that Gandalf (along with Saruman) are Maiar - supernatural beings meant to influence the world and watch over it but NOT intervene in major ways. It's partly why Gandalf let's the Ring Bearer Decide about Moria and why Saruman doesn't directly kill anyone. They can be though of as Angels. Similar to angels, some were corrupted by Melkor (Morgoth) and are called Úmaiar. THe Balrog is one of them. They are basically demons. So Gandalf vs. the Balrog was a literal Angel vs Demon fight.
