Goalposts and Flags (Patreon)
Content
I took down the goal: don't worry we weren't anywhere near it, but as I progress I want to think more carefully about what is a realistic and desirable goal.
The better commissions and patreon do the more time I can devote to comics. And if you have been around a while you know that's my personal goal; and something I wold like to use patreon to facilitate. So I'm going to spend some time thinking about what kind of a patreon goal will help me get there as well as be something you all would appreciate me working on.
My normal comic process is to finish the comic and then post it as PWYW on gumroad or just put it up for free on twitter or whatnot. But if I actually want to make comics themselves the objective I should consider following the lead of more knowledgeable creators and making comic posts a feature of patreon: then, when a comic is completed, I can post it for free like normal.
Following this design I could make the current comic project a vote: things like Shadowlark or the Twins comic would be handled as their own thing.
As I am also going through and fixing old posts I also am trying to trim up the tags. I got strangely specific in some of them which makes them difficult to navigate: Id like to clean them up to things like Illustration, comics, WIP, sketchbook, artdump, etc. Letting people navigate by post type instead of wrestling with subject material that is not well supported by Patreon's format.
So why such a big deal about all this? Well a couple reasons:
Shadowlark is currently on hiatus because until I am doing well enough with my art I wont have the time to devote to it. Which is fine, don't get me wrong I actually LOVE making NEU content and cute fetish stuff. And making NEU comics is definitely something I would enjoy doing as a job. So setting a goal moving forward I want to decide on the subjects of making comics a patreon content focus moving forward and how that will affect our new goal here.
And yes: monthly illustrations / patreon votes will always be a thing.
