Hello! Welcome to the Friday update!

So, I wrapped writing for the this sprint of Newt and Demon 3. Jan 1st to Feb 6th and we have 38 chapters to show for it. It was an okay sprint, as far as my expectations of myself go. I want to be hard on myself and say that I should have 60 chapters to show for it, but 160,000 words part time doesn't seem feasible. Either does the 114k I wrote, now that I think about it. Hey, maybe everything is okay!

I remember writing my first novel (Path of Blood and Stone, read it on amazon now! Just kidding, it kinda sucks). 90k words took a LOOOOOOONG time. Now it's just like popping out 2 novels in a month. No big deal.

I can't tell how long N&D 3 is going to be. I feel like I crossed the half-way mark recently around chapter 35, but I can't see this going to 70 chapters... But, maybe...?

So, the fishing story is weird as hell. I fell out of love with it briefly, had an idea for a time loop story, couldn't get the time loop story to work, then I was back on the fishing story. I realized I wanted a story with someone who practiced magic (a wizard, mayhaps?) and realized the fishing story fit the bill good enough. Our lovely fisherman now has magical powers. Well, I'm working on that.

The plot for the fishing story is developing. 8 chapters and it feels a bit meandering. I set some long term goals up for Ethan to accomplish and OH MY GOD I LOVE TIME SKIPS. I can't do time skips in the Newt and Demon. It just doesn't work. But in the fishing story I can just say "Ethan fished for a week" and it works.

So, there's a few fun themes for the fishing book:

Lots of fishing.

Lots of support magic.

Seaside slice-of-life.

Well, that's it for this week! Changing gears is USUALLY daunting, but this feels fine. I'll see how I like the fishing story by the end of the month then we'll check out publishing on RR.

Thanks for reading, you beautiful people.
