Friday Updates (Week of 2-24-2023) (Patreon)

Book 3 be chugging along. I'll mostly talk about the fishing story in this post. It still doesn't have a name.

Once I realized what the fishing class was, everything for that story fell into place. The fishing class isn't meant to just bring fish up and sell the meat, it's a treasure-hunting class. Once the MC starts fishing up strong enough fish, they drop loot. That leads him to the cycle of finding stronger fish for better loot.

He needs to use his second class, a defensive mage class, to get to those dangerous areas. Thus the cycle is completed. On the page, the fishing is written like short fight scenes. The combat is... combat.

Can you have a slice-of-life story with combat? I'm going to have to find a way to explain this story in the blurb, but it's like comfy adventuring. Small time jobs, nothing crazy and world-ending. Just running around and taking out bandits and monsters to get to better fishing holes. That's the entire motivation of the main character, so he won't be sticking his nose in politics or apocalypse scenarios.

The fishing story (Wizard Fishing, I'd Rather Be Spellcrafting, That time I was Reincarnated as a Lame Fisherman and all I have to show for it is this awesome support magic, etc) is at 33 chapters. I'll stop writing it on the 8th of February and take a short break to figure out what I'm doing next. I'd claim it was for an actual break, but I don't treat my free time that kindly. I'll likely just get the cover, blurb, all that together and go through N&D1 edits.

Oh, there's a good thing to talk about. I have no plans to remove N&D from RR right now, because I don't want to deal with an Amazon release. I'll edit it up and wait for some more persuasive publishers to approach (or I'll approach them). The offers I have aren't impressive, so why bother?
