Yahoo. I won't forget to write an update this week. You know how it goes.

So, I got edits back on N&D1. Firstly, I'll say that they came far quicker than I expected. Which made me think I should work on them immediately, which in turn led to some stressful reorganization of my schedule. But, I worked it out so we're good on that. Before I move on to why this post is a poll, I'll say that the editor provided by the publishing company is insanely good. Extremely shocking to me how thorough they were. Also delighted to be able to work with them.

There are very few other updates to give. SGS will likely go on break after it finishes the current run. Unfortunately, I have to think of that book as an experiment. Since N&D was picked up by a publisher, I'm anticipating any future books they buy from me should be in the same vein. So....

There's a poll here. Did you peak at the options? I would have. I need a follow-up to the Newt and Demon. I had the idea that this story would start running on RR before the story was done. They'll be stand-alone in as much as I won't spoil things in one before they've come out in the other. Mind-boggling? Maybe. Maybe not.

Anyway. I workshop ideas with myself by writing a few chapters, then giving the idea a break and going back to adjust it. Lots of wasted words, maybe. But that's how I work. There are 3 ideas that I have, so I'll outline those. Each idea is crafting, cozy, town-building, isekai. The character is the same for each story, although his origin might change slightly depending on the powerset. Let's get into it.

A Guide to Practical Necromancy

Two of the options have a title, so that's fun.

The powerset on this one revolves around using necromancer powers to do practical things. The MC is a good person, trying to build up a town from nothing (closer to settlement building than townbuilding).

MC summons minions to build things. He can specialize those minions to be crafters.

This story leans into mage-type abilities.

Pulling the Strings

Last one with a title.

The powerset on this one revolves around creating small doll-like things called puppets that do various things. MC can activate/deactivate the puppets when he needs them. So he could make a woodcutting puppet, and a smithing puppet, and so on. MC will only be able to have one puppet active at a time.

Thinking of that, the necromancy story could be limited by that same idea. Only 1 crafter active at a time.

This could be settlement building, or a townbuilding story. But of course, it will have a lot of crafting.

Mechanist

This one doesn't have a title lol.

The powerset on this one revolves around creating artifices like Throk does. They are machines with customizable components. MC can attach these components to mundane items, creating machines that do magical things.

The progression in this one centers around leveling up other cores to support machines. An example of the tinkering abilities would be mechanizing a cart, creating a water pump, heating and cooling elements, and so on.

The lean for this one would be building up an abandoned town.

Alright. Those are the ideas I have for a story like N&D. Vote for whichever one you'd like to read more, or suggest a different powerset in the comments.

I am for A guide to practical necromancy, but only if the settlement building is for Undead or Undead-related species.... That could be a good story, i think....

Concerning Summoning the Greqt Spirits, I must disagree with your appreciation. SGS is perhaps more classical in story than N&D, BUT the style and feelings are similar. I invite you to reconsider stopping writing in the universe.

While I may have time for it in the future, I unfortunately have to consider my limited time :(. Signing with a publisher has eaten into my schedule and I'm still working full-time. While I'm looking forward to writing it in the future, it will go into haitus for a time.
