Maybe that the state (Fire Nation) manipulated the masses into believing that everyone else was inferior, or need to be under the Fire Lords control? War and changes people and governments into unpredictable entities

I think all nations barring the Air Nomads did this to some extent, but yisss the Fire Nation did it the worst.
