Or at least, I feel it is. I put more into its editing and writing than almost any other video, and it's only favourite episode of the series: the Southern Raiders. Thank you to all of you on the Discord who helped pick the thumbnail. Let me know what you think of it!

Fantastic video as always, with a wonderful discussion. I greatly enjoyed it. There's one thing though. One issue I have with both the episode and the analysis: forgiveness is essential. I don't agree that it's okay not to forgive. Unforgiveness leaves unresolved bitterness, and I think forgiving is crucial in order to fully process and heal.

Can't wait to get home and watch this!!!!

I am really impress over how good you handle such a heavy subject about such serious telling, without making it boring. Praise to you Tim. 🧡

Owch, that moral hit home so hard it hurt. "Some traumas cut you so deep you can never get over them, and that's okay." A very hard lesson to learn in life but one necessary to grow enough to live despite your scars. Reminds me of an Illidan Stormrage quote from one of the WoW Legion cutscenes when a higher power offers to remove all his scars from a life of hard choices and pain - "I am my scars" he retorts in fury. Somethings never leave us and shape us through all our days. It's up to us to make peace with them or not as we can. I love how you explained this with the cycle of war. I can think of so many other examples it can be applied and extrapolated to. Wow man, yes. This is definitely one of your best videos (I don't believe in choosing one to be best, many are each good in own ways) and it's great to see how you are developing through each successive video. Bravo mate and looking forwards as always to your next one. ^_^

Hello Future Me

Forgiveness is important, and the episode does actually lead to Katara forgiving Zuko. So that is in the episode, but she doesn't forgive Yon Rha. Those are two different relationships of hate/trauma, and we only focused on the latter in this analysis. I shouldn't think to say clinging to old hatred is good.

Hello Future Me

It was certainly one hell of a video to write. I have so many feelings caught up in this episode, so it's nice to know you do too.

Liquifator

That's very true. I still say that forgiving even Yon Rha is good for Katara's own process, even if Yon Rha doesn't deserve it. But like you said, that's a different process. It was really good to see Katara's process of forgiving Zuko. I also really like how you identified that Katara had placed her anger at the Fire Nation, on Zuko. I hadn't realized that before, and it's an excellent point and very deep concept. You explained it very well.

Liquifator

Agreed. Difficult topic, and you handled it respectably and entertainingly. A lot of people don't handle the serious stuff well. You've proven that you can, and it's still engaging.

Hey man, I know it wasn't written for it but I think this video should be considered to be added to The Movies with Mikey - Lessons Animation Taught Us playlist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkUSZkE-zJ8&t=0s&index=4&list=PLdGl5mi0XeW1GxHltWoKUQ7nH7DqhgxW_ I think you've outlined a very important lesson animation taught us in this video. And if not this video, then I think you should do one for that list. This video demonstrated that you have a lot to say about things learned through watching animation and I think you add something worthwhile to the conversation, so.... line it up man. I'd love to see you included in there.

Hello Future Me

That'd be really cool! I'd never heard of this list before. Is it something you have to apply to get into?

MercuryBuddha

No it looks like you just make it and tweet that you've made it to him and he'll add it from what I gathered from watching what people have posted. I'm about half way through watching through the list now and some are of varying quality so I don't think there's a particular vetting process. I think it's more in the spirit of the thing to just do it if it moves you to do it based on what I've seen so far. There are some vids that seem like one offs on otherwise empty channels just for this. After watching through the list a bit, I'd revise my comment about this video particular of yours going on the list as might not really fit with how the rest of the people seem to have pitched their vids but that's okay because this vid of yours is already a perfectly balanced self contained masterpiece in an of itself. If you were to make a vid for the playlist, something tailored would probably suit you better and let you say more. I know that I'm finding heaps of new youtube channels to follow from people who have made a vid for the list and everyone has their own takes on this from broad to specific themes and examples across the board. I guess you could always message or tweet Mikey if you wanted more info on it. He seems like a pretty cool guy despite him not having seen Avatar before (nooooooooo! XD). I don't know if you watch his stuff but I can highly recommend it. It's consistently brilliant and makes me enjoy movies so much more from having watched it. Seriously discovering youtubers, such as Mikey, Lindsey Ellis, and yourself who analyse movies and tvshows have greatly enriched my viewing experience of so much stuff that I have no idea how I was before being able to enjoy these. It fills a hole in my soul that I didn't realise was missing something until it clicked. Truly we live in wondrous and amazing times! ^_^
