Well I hope it doesn't frustrate you is all. I totally agree with everything you said in the video, and that ultimately the game is YOUR product and YOUR vision and that work needs to be a grind with instant results. I think the key is finding someone who really cares about it as much as you do and wants to help you with your vision rather than make their own product. I know for me, shit, I'd be happy typing out scripts even just knowing I'm helping out on a project that I'd love. And another thing is that you don't have to use the work that someone else makes or even collaborate. it could be like, "hey, code this script im planning to do in a week" or something like that. again with someone invested, you'd get, "okay i'll have it back in a couple hours, asap." or "i cant do it at this exact moment." If they do it, they send it back to you. Could be either well done or shit. Well it doesn't matter if it's shit cause you can just toss it away after a minute of looking at it. If its good it could save you hours of work.

I can understand where you are coming from. I can understand it, but as someone who has collaborated on writing code (including code for games) I cannot agree. It is very well possible to have multiple people work on a game, even a game that gets shaped during the development process, but the code has to be designed with that in mind. I have seen the code you created for the Princess Trainer, and it is constructed in such a way that you could not have multiple people working on it. I assume that the code for the Hermione Trainer is constructed in a similar fashion, so at this point you could not bring someone else in. However, if you would have set up the code in a different manner from the start, collaboration could be supported. The question is what your ambitions are. If in the next few years you want to construct games which are about the size and scope of the Princess Trainer, you could do all of that by yourself. The Hermione Trainer is, as far as I can see, more ambitious in size and scope and you have been complaining about it getting too complex. So you may already have a clear view of where your limits lie. If you are more ambitious -- if you want to build larger games, or more interactive games -- then you have to design your code in a different way. And if you do that, it would definitely be possible to offload some of the more mundane tasks to someone else, so that you can focus more on story and graphics. Or if your ambitions indeed encompass building up something like "Akabur Studios" within a few years, to provide a more solid means of income (because, face it, if the Hermione Trainer gets delayed too much or is not received well, you will probably lose most of your supporters), then you must find a more structured approach to creating code than you are using now. I agree that this is not a decision to take lightly. Growing from 1 person to 2 or 3 persons is a MUCH bigger step than growing from 5 persons to 50 persons. One serious consideration, if you bring someone else in, is what that person will get out of it. It is not difficult to find someone who is enthusiastic about your work and who is willing to contribute, but who does not have the talent to do so. It is also not difficult to find someone who is willing to contribute code if you can pay him (or her), but who is not invested in the game. Ideally, you want someone who is enthusiastic, like-minded, talented, and a trustworthy partner. So, again, consider what your ambitions are. If you want to grow beyond what you do now, then at some point you will need to bring in more people. The question is in what manner. I could say a lot more about this, but it depends on what you want. I think it is worthy of discussion.

I agree that it would be a big step, and I also totally agree that what you need to crank out an awesome result is not people who are after beer and pizza but people who can pack a punch. Like PS I also think that this could work if approached carefully and could bring about even more awesome results than PT and HT! :-) You want a partner, let's say for coding, that brings their own ideas (but is willing to accept yours as well), that has some business sense (because nobody who'd be doing this for free is in for the long haul) and is highly enthusiastic about the work itself. And one who brings lots of experience in their field, of course.

while a king must lead his army, sometimes its best for him to act alone. While i understand that sometimes a team helps, i know from experiences that there are things that one must do alone. Since you're the creator ( and our lord and master), only you know what your visions is, we are here for support. This doesn't mean you don't care for our opinions and support, its just that we are not required at this moment. So like any army, we shall await your call, gather ourselves and wait outside your imaginary balcony to await your orders. Just will go over some of your points real quick. First of all we probably should keep in mind that everything I said in the vid was of course about "Princess Trainer" type of games. I am not talking about dungeon crawlers or RPGS here. I am talking about the kind of games I have been creating up until now - where I have full control over every aspect of the gamer's experience and not subcontract different parts of the game to different people. WHich would be a necessity in a different types of games. But I don't think I want to deviate from "VN" type of game-play actually. Next thing you are so very right when you say: "So you may already have a clear view of where your limits lie." Yes. "Hermione Trainer" taught me that well. Next thing is my supporters. To be honest I don't think people would turn their back on me like that. Simply because for the most part guys who are here a gold and support me for the idea of supporting and not "free stuff". But at the same time I have no illusions about future and no matter how "good" things are going I never become complacent. I have an opportunity to work on the game right now and I will not squander it taking my time and taking it easy because I know how unreliable everything is in life and the opportunity I have today will not be here tomorrow. But I also know one thing: as long as I work my ass off, thing will work out one way or another. Being in charge of a studio would put me in a "driver sit" but it would also mean that instead of working I would be doing who know what? Planning? Organizing? Making sure other people work in the right direction? I don't want that. And not being in charge would mean that I will have to follow someone else's vision. Which also would not work for me. Well in any case, although I do disagree with some of your views on this, for the most part I think you are right. It is still to early to think seriously about this anyways. I need to release "HT" first.

this is really sad, but i'm going to have a guess at why they need wands for magic in HP universe... So, when you're a kid, at some point you'll start manifesting magical power (harry removing/reinstating glass at zoo). This cannot be controlled, and could be dangerous. The school teaches them to use this power, and the wand would serve as a focus, to give them control. At least, that's my guess... (JK Rowling probably made it all up on the fly, with little deep thought into mechanics?)

I think it's good to think about these sorts of things tentatively. Ultimately it could help you to be even more ambitious. And I think for HT it's not possible at this point of course. But thinking about it allows you to consider it in the future. It's just about finding baby steps, doing what you're comfortable with at first without feeling like you're betraying your product. The last things us as your devoted fans want is to ruin or alter your vision. We want what you want, good sir. That's what makes your material so great is your drive and vision. I think we can all appreciate that ;). Even just seeing your work is a privilege. Working along side you would be even more than that. But hey, I'm glad I sparked some intellectual discourse about all of this :).

Well, that subject already have been brought up many time, I do understand that people want to help, personnaly, all I can do is support you the best as I can, and even if the Hermion Trainer take time or isn't as good as intended, I will still continue to support you, your games made me want to support you, but right now, it's the man I support, because you are a nice and talented guy (yeah I know, you don't like to hear that and think everyone is better than you, but the reality is that you are talented and draw with passion and that passion is reflected on you drawings and that's why I find them great :) )

Fair enough ! But what about translation? It doesn't change your vision and is not long to implement in the game. For exemple, I could translate in French once the game is out and it's added value for you. I'm sure other people among your fans master a lot of languages !

I don't think translation would be useful, even if it doesn't take long to implement akabur's fans are able to read english and personally even if it was translated I would play the game in english, even as a French ;)

For what it's worth, I would be willing to translate Akabur's games in Italian (and believe me, A LOT of Italians cannot understand English), but I don't think our leader would allow that... Some time ago I read a post on his site where he stated his aversion to any form of translation. That's a pity for sure, our army would broaden considerably - but hey, it's our leader's will, so be it.

This might go against the flow of the community, and you'll have to forgive me for that, but it's just the way I view it. I actually have yet to even complete your first game, Akabur. On top of that I don't think I even have it downloaded anymore. Simply put, my support comes from the heart. I see a guy who's passion speaks true and that's all I need to know. Now of course I'd expect updates or whatnot, but overall, my concern is that you have a solid income so you can continue your passion for as long as you want. I'm taking a deeper approach when I support people. It's not just about getting material to please my little whims. It's far more important. It's about the idea of promoting erotica in an effort to keep pushing fiction further. Making sure we keep fiction free and open, even if that means producing as much of the "taboo" stuff as we can. Society needs to change and accept that people should be allowed to make and indulge in whatever fiction they want. Continuing to create the stuff should help keep the momentum going and hopefully further that change. I'm not trying to say I'm better than anyone for being more selfless in this regard. Ultimately, you made your point quite clear awhile ago. The goals were set. Anything beyond that, you're not obligated to provide more content.

Don't be afraid to try new things, it might work out better than you expect. That being said, I became a supporter because I like the way YOU approach these things and because I trust YOUR judgement. So do whatever you think is best, but keep your mind open I guess is I wanna say. But I would rather things take longer if it ensures that your vision of a game gets realised. It wouldn't be worth it if we got the game faster but to many people working on the game distorted your vision for the game. Sorry if I didn't make much sense.

That's why many developers from large studios at some point go small teams. Bigger control, less management, more art. But get yourself some help in routine departments, like text typing, mentioned in the video.

Wow. Well, actually translating stuff from English to Italian and viceversa is one of the things I do for a living, so I know what I would be getting into. Obviously I would do that in my free time, without deadlines. I think it would be worth a try. The only problem is that I do not know anything about coding and programming. Do you have something like a text file with the whole PT script? Would it be simple to implement the translation in the game?

In my opinion you should expand games, now it's only clicking, click click click click click get money, click next day and do that again. How about adding mini games: like 2048 with your custom drawn images, set timer to 5 seconds and make final score earned money ? There is a lot of memory games that can be used for small stuff, play mini games (if possible in games show images as progress) and get rewards, beat level X advance to next relashonship level, get money buy upgrades or additional levels.... All these games can be implemented without touching story. If i understand correctly you have a guy who helps you code, maybe even I could help in free time.
