April 2024 Pages (Patreon)

I put a lot of my creativity into little flourishes on the pages this month and didn't leave much for outside stuff. Before I started doing these compilations my brain was always telling me I didn't do anything, but now it does that and I can look at 13 comic pages all together and the reasonable side of my brain is like "Well, you did make 13 pages of an ongoing series, which is more than most people do." Artists and writers spend their entire lives being told that the thing they want to do professionally "isn't a real job", and on some level I think e all internalize that. At least until we either gain wide recognition, or make enough money to throw it in people's faces. I've never quite hit those targets, so my brain still thinks what I do isn't "real". Every so often someone will write me and tell me that mt work helped them make it through a tough time, or helped them see their life in a better way, or whatever, and that feeling goes away for a bit. Even my father, who is the gold standard for hard working men, acknowledges my work as a success, but that feeling of doing nothing always creeps back in. It's just one of those things you have to deal with, and I've been doing just fine in spite of it for almost 2 decades, so I'll probably keep being just fine.

Anyway, I hope to post a little extra content tonight or tomorrow, depending on how life comes at me. Regadless of what happens with that I hope I see you at the end of May for another 13 or so pages all grouped up. Until then, keep your stick on the ice.
