In this episode, when he wasn't acting maniac, Wesley is acting pretty similarly to his S3 self, he believes he is the only one that can achieve his goals and that he terrible things will happen next if he does not act; whether that taking Baby Connor to Holtz or lying about what his weapon will do to Illyria.

I think Buffy, being the source material from which Angel was made, has a special place for that exact reason to many fans, in addition to so many more. Angel, however, was in the first 3 seasons of Buffy, plus 5 years on Angel after, giving us 8 years with his character - versus 7 years with the Scooby Gang, respectively. It was also ending a year after Buffy, ending our on screen relationship with this world entirely. And that was definitely not a small loss.

So what I want to know is, in that suburban hell dimension, in addition to cutting his own heart out, does the torture demon now also have to play the role of husband and father and go over the layers of the earth with his kid every morning before going to retrieve an oven bulb?

It wasn't until THIS WATCH that I caught a shout-out to "Planet of the Apes": After Illyria calls Angel (and the rest) 'apes', Angel tells her to take her damn hands off him. The quote from the 1968 film is "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape". Jaime Bergman, who played the pregnant woman, is David Boreanaz's real-life wife.

Ilyria kinda became one of my favorite characters of the entire series just in the short time she was in the show. I liked the evolution of her character for the time she was was here. I only wish there was another season to see further progression of her character, on screen at least (not including the comics).
