Our energry is low have a peice of candy or the apple, then sneak in through the back door (if any) or the side window to the right of the gaurd.

eat your 2 peices of candy, but be sure you put the wrappers back in inventory, dont want to leave trash that might alert guards

do we have any way of putting the guard to sleep? are we far enough away that the other disguise-detectors wouldn't catch us? His spear looks like a standard weapon, but caution dictates that we proceed without testing the theory, or that we test it in safety. maybe stay hidden in a spot that is nearby, but entirely hidden from sight and shift to a pegasus or griffon to listen and hear if that staff picks up on it... if we're going to be picked up by other detectors, though, just have to try to find an unguarded window or some such.

Look for an open window out of sight of the guard. if you get inside, look for some food - your friend won't be able to eat it anyway.

We don't need to risk this guard or whatever other security measures may be on the house. We should go to the underwater cave.

Hmmm... more energy would be nice so I agree that eating candy is a great suggestion. But why not just use the vine trick again? Oh but I guess checking to make sure there are no other guards before doing this is a good idea too, so let's look around the perimeter of the house.

Oh holy hell. We're 12 feet from a good bed, don't waste the energy items. Also, side window, unguarded. No reason to waste anything, magic or inventory, nor any reason to change our minds and backtrack. Stay quiet and stay to the bushes, sneak in the side window. We can restock and rest inside, maybe even make a meal. No risk, no backtracking, no need to test the new stick, nothing lost or wasted. We might even overhear something good when/if he starts talking to himself/a passer by.
