Truly, Young Queen, you have had good luck! Traveling merchants are the boon of all Badlands travellers,and here is a chance to get some supplies that will help you on your trip. Bits are an issue, though if you trade sell your lockpicks, you could buy a bottle and one love gem and have a bit for later use. And, it couldn't hurt to ask the merchant about hazards on the path ahead.

Sell everything except the father scarf, buy everything except the love gem. If you're going to travel at night you need the flashlight, if you're fast enough you can exit the desert by dawn. To survive the desert you need the empty bottle to store water to survive the desert, you will survive longer with water and no food rather than if you have food and no water. I don't need a toy sword, give me a real weapon, take the knife. Ask the trader for direction out of the desert.

I agree with Zanon ask to travel with the merchant until you reach the nearest town.

The trader already look like a bandit, for all I know he's a slave trader on his way to sell slaves and are looking to bag a unique changeling merchandise to be sold. No, play it safe and exit the desert on your own. If the merchant is not bigger and stronger than her, I would have recommend her to use the knife and rob the merchant blind.

I would recommend to sell the strong mat to buy the knife. So you have a working weapon against enemies. This would be more important than the mat.

The rope and the mat are still useful to protect yourself from the sun and rain, and the scarf is a memento. The lock pick isn´t useful right now, so I think selling it is a good option, and use some magic to convince him for a discount in the flashlight. You will need it during the night.

Selling the Lockpick seems like a good idea, and buying the gem and bottle. Can probably fill up the bottle from the cactus. Its also a good idea to ask for information, as well as the direction to town.

if the manticore doesnt mind truthfully traveling with his caravan may actualy be the safest way for you to traverse the wasteland, but as for what to buy or sell the bottle and the gem seem most usefull right now, sell the lock pick [and pray you dont need it again] and buy them both.
