The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1939. Thou it originated in America, it was actually a world wide event. Almost every country was affected in one way or another. Max Baer did kill two men in the ring thou he was very regretful about it. Other than that is movie is actually pretty factually accurate. The iced down coin is supposed to help his ear from swelling, and possibly developing "cauliflower ear". Thank you for the reaction. Primitive accent, I don't think so. ;) A 5 out of 5 movie and a 10 out of 10 reaction!

The economy started bouncing back with World War II.

Biss, in 1929, the stock market crashed, and many people lost all their money. The USA government (under President Franklin D Roosevelt..FDR...) set up relief payments to unemployed workers. That was what Jim B, ment when he said he went down to sign up for relief.

There's a very real chance he did invest money back in '28. The stock market crash was the start of the Great Depression. Nearly the entire world's economy was in shambles for nearly a decade. It was essentially only because of WWII that the depression ended.

BISS those punches on the sides that you are referring to are called KIDNEY PUNCHES. It's the same punch DIXON threw and broke his hand in the movie ROCKY BALBOA. Punched in those spots are very painful if you don't see it coming

That BAER fighter is fighting dirty. He's extending his arm out onto Braddocks head so he can try and poke him in the eye so that Braddock can't see.

And yes BAER has poor boxing skills and relies on his strength and power to win matches.

Watching Biss do sports reactions/commentary is rapidly becoming one of my favorite things 🙂

Oh good heavens, this is going to be some serious waterworks. I just watched this again a couple weeks ago. It's one of only a few "onions" movies for me, hope Biss had plenty of tissues ready.
