The worst thing about this movie is the song "Werewolfs of London" by Warren Zevon is not in it! The song was released in the '78 and the movie came out in '81. Other than that, for what it is, it's a perfectly fine movie, with ground breaking special effects for the time. Agree with Biss, 3 out of 5

Essero Eson

American BearWolf in London.

When i first time saw this movie, its was my birthday party. I dont remember how old i was...maybe 10-12 (early 90s) and all of us kids watched it. We didnt see the comedy in it back then. We hold pillows in front of our faces for the scary parts but it didnt work. I had nightmares for few weeks after the movie because of the werewolf transformation scene. So, back then it was very unique movie and I'm not suprised that at the 54th Academy Awards, An American Werewolf in London won the first-ever Academy Award for Best Makeup. Special effects has changed so much for these days but i still like the movie. Btw my older sister still refuses to watch it ever again. 3/5 stars is a good and accurate rating. TY Biss :)

I think a lot of the love for this movie is nostalgia and that at the time; the special effects were considered cutting edge. It's interesting that you mentioned Michael Jackson's Thriller video as both American Werewolf in London and the Thriller video were both directed by John Landis. Great review!
