I hope you're going to jump right in to season 2! (I wish I could have done that!) FYI, in season 2 there are after credits scenes for every episode. Loved your reaction to the 'His name is Ed' scene. It gets me every time. Can't wait to see what you think of season 2!

This episode is for sure a rollercoaster, but please please hang in there for Season 2, it's really such a treat, and even though there won't be a Season 3, I think they tie things up nicely in the finale of Season 2. As for this episode, I think you're spot on about Blackbeard. He's hurting and blames himself for being 'soft' and also thinks being this hardened manly man will make the hurt go away. Izzy for sure triggered that line of thinking, but Blackbeard is also a really complex character with some serious issues he needs to work on (he may not have directly killed folks, outside of his dad, but lighting a ship on fire and killing everyone inside is still pretty messed up). I love love love Stede and Mary's resolution in this episode. It's what his character needed to move past that guilt that was holding him back, and oh boy what an A+ fu$%ery they pulled off :).

I remember first time watching this ep and being like… surely Stede will get back to the ship by the end, right? RIGHT??? :’) and then we had to wait months to know if we’d even get a S2 :’) you’re SO lucky you get to jump right into it! Also when Good Omens S2 came out and I finished the finale ep I literally audibly said “They did NOT just pull and Our Flag Means Death on us” (because they ended on such a similar cliffhanger) lmaooo

maybe this is the BPD talking but while i was def frustrated at izzy i was never truly mad at him. imagine dedicating your life to a man for YEARS and then this former rich guy shows up and gets everything you ever wanted in a fraction of that time and the man you thought you knew better than anyone reveals a side of himself you never knew? izzy better than me i would’ve blown that whole ship up.

I love how Mary was handled in this episode and how different she is from Stella from Helluva Boss. I love Helluva Boss and I have no problem with Stella being evil. It's just when the woman who was also forced into marriage with a gay man is always portrayed as evil is where there is a problem so not doing that was a breath of fresh air. She is a woman in the 1700s. She was always going to be married off to some man she didn't love and it just happened to be Stede. I love that she is accepting of him and helps him return to Ed. She doesn't love Stede, but it isn't their faults. I also like Stede is not being a very good husband to show he is not this perfect victim. He realizes Mary should be with a man who actually loves her like Doug and helps them as well. This ending was so painful to watch when airing. I was one of the people who watched the show like a month after it came out and had to wait over a year for season 2 with this ending. We were not okay. XD

I know this episode was rough and it will take a little bit but i promise you from all my heart keep going, the second season is so good and heartwarming. It really gets good again and happy and everything. I love the second season with all my heart <3

In advance of the second season, I want to warn you that the season 2 episodes have post-credit scenes. Also, season 2 is incredible. It came out a couple months after season 2 of good omens and it cured my post-ineffable divorce depression. 😂

A frustrating and sad end to season 1 but season 2 will hopefully cure that! Having to wait for an announcement for season 2 and then waiting for season 2 was hard but it was worth the wait.

I think the main reason for the relapse is that he sees Izzy (who has been loyal to him for the last 20 years until stede showed up) as the only person he has left. Calico Jack betrayed him (and died) , he's convinced that he wasn't good enough for stede after all, he doesn't trust the crew not to just turn on him like the French ship (are they laughing at him again?) and now Izzy gave him an ultimatum - - as long as he can perform blackbeard, he's at least guaranteed Izzy's devotion, as toxic as that relationship is for both of them...

So i started watching OFMD during the break between s1 and s2 of Good Omens.. you can imagine after this ending how excited I was for GO S2 to heal my broken heart…. and yeah… well you know how that went. I can’t wait for your s2 reaction to OFMD though!

Haha I wondered if that was how you recognized it! I'm so excited and also scared for possible interactions between Solas and the Inquisitor in Veilguard... And honestly I'm not sure about romances for my Rook yet, but I've been leaning towards Lucanis (it seems like everyone is lol), but Bellara and Taash have caught my eye too. Obviously if they somehow make Varric a secret additional romance option as an advisor or something I'm totally going for him first and foremost lmao, I've wanted to romance that man for SO long

I do not know Izzys Backstory . I just know the ring he keeps on a chain or band around his neck is from his dead mother and I think they let him decide what that means......same with Lucius backstory. They have backstories in their head even if we do not see it on screen.

I always thought Izzy and Lucius would be an interesting couple.......Izzy´s actor said that his character fears only two things and one is Lucius.....not that I don´t love Lucius and Pete.....they could be poly.

He felt threatened by Izzy and his survival instinct kicked in. Not saying it is right.......he wanted to become something worse than Blackbeard....."The Kraken" to protect his body and worse, his heart......I hate miscommunication........just a day or two more......and it would have been fine-ish.

I always read the end of the season as ed reverting to Blackbeard as a sort of self preservation thing. Blackbeard doesn't feel pain, so let's go all on on being Blackbeard 😅
