Not because I relate 100% to it, but it's hitting close to home 1:50:40. That's so true, what you're saying right there! This movie has an excellent portrayal of insecurities and dark thoughts. I used to have those kind of thoughts that would just focus on all my flaws, not my talents/skills. For years, I was terrified of putting myself out there, and owning my personality, flaws and all. Now, I'm proud of showing my flaws and weaknesses. I'm not ashamed of them. It takes a lot of mental strength to block out those negative voices. It might feel impossible, but it is possible. 1:52:15, "Except me? You told me to cover up! To Hide!" This part, I can relate to. Discovering that I'm Bi, it terrified me! I was scared, not of what my friends would think, but my parents! Idk how they would respond to me being queer. Idk if they would accept me for who I am! Now, they're pretty chill about it. But when I first came out to them, they were shocked, and quiet. My biggest fear, was to be disowned and kicked out🥺💔 by them. Again, now, they're pretty chill about it. My dad doesn't joke so much about that, luckily😏😅. And my mom, her only concern is for my safety. But she knows, I can handle myself. I know a red flag when I see one! 1:57:50, "Soda Pop was so much better" but you gotta admit, this makes for a great villain song 1:59:55 🎶I broke into a million pieces and I can't go back. But now I'm seeing all the beauty in the broken glass. The scars are part of me. Darkness and Harmony. My voice without the lies, This Is What It Sounds Like. Why did I cover up the colors stuck inside my head? I should've let the jagged edges meet the light instead. Show me what's underneath. I'll find your harmony. I really hope that that's the case, cause I'm craving more of this world😝! 2:10:43, "I'm sad that Jinu didn't get to end up with Rumi." And that's understandable. But did you notice when he gave Rumi his soul, it materialized into her sword, making it bigger. I got a strong feeling that Jinu might be able to come back from that. If I'm wrong, then I'll be upset🥺. If I'm right, I'll be Ecstatic🤩 Last edit: I'm gonna re-watch this right away, cause (obviously) I had a lot of fun watching this. I didn't get a notification for this, but I just came home and wanted something to watch, but I was caught up on everything I was interested in on all reaction channels I watch, then I see Elijah's reaction to this movie on the Patreon sidebar thing, and I was like "Oh yeah, maybe I could watch Morgan's reaction to that", convinced that you had already reacted to it. Then I got here, didn't see the post, searched for it, then saw the post and it said "An hour ago". I was so confused lmao TLDR: Insane timing

That line of "Why couldn't you love all of me?" resonated big time as a queer person (and as a mental health sufferer). The selective interest and praise, the careful omission of the subject, acting like they did a good job just because they didn't hurl slurs and kick you out - it makes a parent's love feel so conditional.

Now haveing watched it, if you have gone back and listen to the soundtrack, do you have a favorite or one on repeat? My personal favorite is this is 'what it sounds like' and then I LOVE Free it's sooo damn cute and wholesome, not to mention the lyrics are sooo good (although that's not to say I hate it don't enjoy he other songs I just have the most enjoyment with those two)

Glad you checked this out. And now I'm just reminded of a funny fan comic of these girls I saw. It was basically a "What If" Rumi had told the other two earlier that she was half demon, but it was hilarious because she worded the entire thing like it was a coming-out speech. And when she finally said it to them, it cuts back to the other two who were now stunlocked after getting stuff ready off screen that revealed they had thought she was coming out as trans. They had all these trans colored banners and party hats and cake and Mira had a shirt that said "Fuck TERFS" because to them that seemed like the most likely explanation to her behavior than being half demon.

The voice actors you'll probably recognise are: - Daniel Dae Kim (the voice doctor) who's voiced Avatar TLA and She-Ra - Ken Jeong (Bobby the manager) who's done The Hangover, Dr Ken, Community. Like Kim he has a really distinctive face you'd probably recognise. - Lee Byung-hun (Gwi-ma) who plays someone called "Front Man" in Squid Games that you've mentioned watching. Aside from that it's a very Korean heavy cast so not much overlap with Western shows. The songs are patterned after a genuine KPop band called "Twice", with Takedown written by them.

Nobody here thinks crying makes you anything, certainly not a whiny little bitch, which sounds like something this wasn't your first time saying. Our society has some fucked up practices, and emotions being a weakness is in that bundle... -Broken glass, scars, jagged edges. Great imagery. -"Yes! wait..NO!" :) Yup. -Bobby is just a lil' guy, and he isn't gonna get enough love. Also it's a much nicer character than the actor usually gets to play, probably because it's animated and his demeanor has defaulted to mean/biting for so long. -Names from a different cultural context are harder, too, no worries. -It feels like this movie came out of nowhere and hit like a freight train, becoming popular and EVERYWHERE so so fast. I hope that lasts and we get a sequal and/or a series.

11:50 "That was a lot to take in." You could even say....it was hard to swallow. *ba-dum chish!* As far as I can tell, they didn't achieve the Golden Honmoon because it was mixed colors instead of only gold, which definitely could be a plot point for a sequel. Tiger and Bird not getting banished to the demon realm makes me question what they even are, if not demons.

I think that Tiger and Bird not getting banished means that if Jinu would not have sacrificed himself he too could have stayed in the human realm. I really want Jinu to be ,,alive" somehow. *Clears trought" As a wise man (footofaferret) usually says ,,IM LIVING IN DENIAL BABY!"

So happy you're reacted to this! Honestly, this movie was a surprise for a lot of us. Never did I expect to love this movie as much as I do, nor did I expect to love the soundtrack this much. After numerous rewatches, the "Takedown" scene hits so hard. We the audience know what's going on. But if you consider it from Rumi's perspective, it's... horrible. A lifetime of covering up, of hiding her patterns, of being told that her closest friends would not understand. She's probably had nightmares about this exact moment. Anxiety induced panic attacks caused by close calls in her everyday life. And going into that moment, she'd been on the outs with Mira and Zoey. Actually had a little spat with them. She returns after seeing Jinu and suddenly they're on board with her plan. So of course she believed in the moment that her friends turned on her. She'd seen it thousands of times before. I love that you picked up immediately that a dis track would be no good. And I simply love that they thought "Golden", a song about being "the best of us", would secure the Honmoon. Instead, "What It Sounds Like", an anthem about being flawed and embracing it, is what unites the people.

It's interesting because I like I don't know what the summer is called but I like the BO. Are also more than soapop, because it plays on like sad tom's having a like a happy or more blisting, like tune and beat even though the lyrics are dark, I like the like the contrasting themes of that song

it is what *good* k-pop sounds like! a lot of the biggest k-pop writers (including the woman who voiced rumi) and producers worked on the music to make sure it was genuine/authentic. if you love campy, earnest art and spectacle, come join us on the dark side lol

The k in kpop stands for Korean, this had many Koran producers work on this plus inspiration from stray kids business n such. Idk about if they put Asian Chinese n Japanese into this but Korean for sure

One of the things that hurts about the scene when Mira and Zoey find out about Rumi’s patterns and going all the way through to when Rumi talks with Celine is that in the background you can hear Golden being played in the minor key, which is typically used to make a song that’s normally happy and upbeat sound sad and depressing. That’s why that scene hurts so much

I was so excited to see you react to this because I knew you'd really connect with this movie and the characters. Also, loved that you took notes to help you remember things. I have seen this movie so many times now (because my kids are obsessed) and I still cry every time when Rumi says "All of me!" To Celine. And when they sing What it sounds like. 😭😭😭 its a beautiful movie with such an interesting story and amazing animation. 💜

The music in KPDH has a bit more English than I usually hear in k-pop, but most of the stuff I listen to is from the 90s and early 00s (SES was my favorite band for a hot minute). The only k-pop tracks I've heard recently were viral songs that had almost a 50/50 split of English and Korean and it really messed with my ears. XD
