That's just it. Goldie was never truly a bad person, and ALWAYS cared about Scrooge. Both of them loved their flirtatious rivalry. It's just that somewhere along the way, they both let the competition get the better of them (with Goldie being slightly more selfish). She only left him in dangerous situations because she knew he could get out of it, and Scrooge loved that she always went for the treasure first, because that's exactly how he was back then. The only thing that changed, is that she realized how much her love for Scrooge outweighs the love for the treasure. That, and she cares about Louie too now, someone who can't get out of everything.

I can absolutely agree re: Goldie. I kept wanting her to have a 'turn', but they kept teasing it and pulling the football out (to make a Charlie Brown reference) so we'd all land flat on our backs.. It was nice to see they finally stuck to it here.
