THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW (2004) FULL LENGTH MOVIE REACTION - WATCH ALONG

As a person with health issues both mental and physical, I don't know why I find disaster movies so fascinating, since I have yet to see one, I'd last through the first day of (or sometimes just the first hours). A playlist of these movies could just be called "A Thousand Ways Bubbly Would Die". But they're still so much fun for some reason. I like the serious(ish) tone of this movie, but after the snowstorm that hit this area two years ago and knocked out power, I can't view this one quite as seriously as I used to. There were people in this area that died from just the cold we had and a few days without heat or power. It got down to the low 40s in our house even with a fireplace for warmth and only about 70 hours without power. I doubt very much that a fire and a few closed doors would save them from the kind of cold that freezes gasoline in the lines in seconds. Of course, as I said in the "Volcano" watchalong, I don't watch these movies for realism. With disaster movies, the over-the-top fun is more important than the realism of the scenario. I rate this movie very high on my disaster funometer. It's not my favorite, but it's up there. I hope there are more disaster movies on the schedule for the coming weeks. Still hoping to see a few specific ones sometime soon. Can't wait to see what's next!

I was thinking as y'all were talking about the music at the beginning of the movie if y'all have ever heard Nightwish? They're a Finnish symphonic metal band that I think you two would really like since you like that kind of epic music. Specifically The Greatest Show on Earth and Ghost Love Score are two songs I think you would really enjoy.

I've always liked this movie.. it's fun. -150 freezing up.. Coldest I've ever experienced is -125 but that was the real feel, but still flippin seriously cold. I remember thinking about this movie when that happened.
