So excited for this! The Substance is amazing, and unfortunately perfect commentary on how society and the entertainment industry treat women. 2024 truly was an amazing year for Horror. I know you guys watched this, Abigail, Longlegs, Smile 2 and Terrifier 3, and going forward I would highly suggest Oddity, Immaculate and Late Night With The Devil. Oddity in particular was great, it’s an Irish production.

This movie was ridiculous, surprisingly funny, and touched on some psychology not many things ever do. I'm not talking about the obvious psychological premise the movie is based on, but the other, more subtle things the movie does. I didn't necessarily see this as a take on the entertainment industry, but more human psychology as a whole and how getting older affects the mind. The entertainment bit was just the framework for that story to happen imo. It was a good choice here, helped amp up that hyper-real fever-dream vibe. Side note, you guys need to check out Children of Men. 2006, Alfonso Cuarón directed, starring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, and Michael Caine. Legendary cinematography. The ultimate oners.

Iv'e been waiting for this since this blew my mind in theaters, there's genuinely so much to this movie! I it currently nominated for best picture and director...And I'm rooting for it. Chances are slim of winning but if a body horror movie can win Best Picture and can make history like that! Than we would have come a long way

Thank you, I'm happy I got a reason to rewatch it! And great insights! The close up shots and editing also reminded me of Requiem for a Dream (2000) directed by Aronofsky - another great movie full of cautionary tales and great performances. I'd definitely recommend it if you're ever in the mood for something heavy and haven't seen it.

That movie was masterful. What a gnarly surprise. Absolutely loved it. So much to think about and oh man the special effects plus the cinematography. Did you watch severance? There are some big parallels Really great show on Apple TV+ from Ben Stiller.

TheMediaKnights

They pulled no punches with this and really made you live in that discomfort, which is so bold! This movie was fantastic! Also no, we haven't seen Severance yet, but we'll definitely add it to our list! Thank you for your support and for the recommendation!

TheMediaKnights

Thank you so much for joining us on this one! We definitely have to check out Requiem for a Dream, it's come up multiple times and we're so excited to check that one out!

TheMediaKnights

We're definitely rooting for this one as well, the film was so bold, so stunningly shot and fantastically acted!

TheMediaKnights

That's such a great way to look at this movie as well, and that's what's so great about it! The themes that are being processed here are varied and actually go far beyond the surface level ones. Also Children of Men is definitely on our list, we're gonna get to that one very soon!

TheMediaKnights

You're right on the money with that! It truly has been an amazing year for horror, we got some incredible gems! We definitely have to check out Oddity and Late Night With The Devil, so we'll add those to our list as well! Thank you for the recommendations!

TheMediaKnights

Hi Robert, thank you so much for being here! Thank you also for your recommendation, we're adding that one to our list for sure! Sending all the hugs!

I don't think I've ever seen Ari so uncomfortable before too, so that was a lot of fun. :D

Requiem is brutal. Arguably way more scary than The Substance because it's real.

Art, music and movies are incredibly subjective. With that being said, I know I’m in the minority here, but I found this film to be overhyped. Don’t get me wrong, Demi was excellent. Probably the best work of her career. The ending took an amazing narrative and chose shock factor over logical conclusion. As a fan of horror, gore never bothers me. This one just lost me in the end. Still, fantastic work from the two leads, make up and effects department. I really hope this opens up more opportunities for Demi Moore.
