Excited for this! I never could have imagined Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes. But the way he was able to reinvent the character blew me away. The direction of this film is Guy Ritchie at his absolute BEST, and one of his top movies in my opinion.

TheMediaKnights

Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law's chemistry in this was through the roof! Such a fun take on the characters.

Matt Cantu

Reign of Fire The Abyss Road to Perdition Gangs of New York The Untouchables Crimson Tide (Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington at their best) Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan (1st movie to use CGI)

You guys are definitely my favorite Reaction content creators. Though I know the liklihood of you reading this isn't plausible, I would love it if you were to do a reaction to the A Quiet Place franchise.

Tatiana Ferreira

Great reaction 👏 I think the next Sherlock Holmes is even better than this one. Looking forward to your reactions. I also recommend Snatch and RocknRolla, if you haven't seen it yet. 😊

BlueJean452

This entire soundtrack goes so hard. It is permanently in my music rotation.

Hans Engelen

Am I the only one who has issues keeping sync. It's almost as if I have to slow down 5% to stay in sync (and mpv only works in 10% steps, that I know of).

Devon McFarlin

Man these reaction videos are great, but I think yall should do John Q with Denzel Washington I think it’s one of his best movies.

Seanjax30

Thank you for this I requested it like 2 months ago cause I knew you guys would love it

Hans Engelen

Oh no, that in Europe is like going panning for gold in a river... You can look but you won't find anything.

PDC717

This was the first blockbuster film that Guy Richie directed. He divorced Madonna, taking her for $94 million in the process, and jumped right into big budget mainstream films. It was interesting how it all came together at the same time.

TheMediaKnights

What streaming platform are you using? The syncing problems might be because of the difference between NTSC vs PAL. Given that you are in Europe your copy might be in PAL.

Hans Engelen

Fixed it in the end with some config settings for mpv. Still it is kinda odd.

James

if you like guy ritche you have to watch Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells

I absolutely loved this movie and its sequel. I'm a Sherlock Holmes fan as well and that depiction in both of these movies were fantastic. This movie was so chock full of one liner roasts that I still use to this day because they were just so good. Some honorable mentions are but are not limited to "capacity to spit at back of head neutralized", "shall I answer chronologically or alphabetically", " at least they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity", and " no Girl Wants to Marry a doctor who can't tell if a man's dead or not". You guys should put the Man from Uncle on your list. A remake of the old TV show about a clandestine group of people that go on missions. Henry Cavill is fantastic as Napoleon solo. I always forget the girl's name but she played in the most recent Tomb Raider movie and is married to Michael Fassbender I think. Alicia vikander I think her name is so don't quote me on that. And Armie Hammer who does a fantastic job as solos Russian counterpart kuryakin. It is a fun time and the score is so on point. And I may have mentioned The hitman's Bodyguard before but it Bears worth mentioning again. I never saw the sequel but the first one was so good.

Bjartur

Uhh is it just me or the movie extremely small and blurred?

PDC717

You meant to watch along with your own copy, on your TV or tablet.

Bjartur

It's blurry on my tv and my phone though 👁️👁️ 👄

A fun choice! I do agree, this iteration of Sherlock Holmes has a lot of great qualities. Although my favorite filmed iteration is still the Sherlock-series with Benedict Cumberbatch this is probably my second favorite. The film has the advantage of using familiar characters of course, but like you mentioned in your discussion, they are so well done we can quickly connect with them even more than expected. The script is clever enough and the mystery is complicated enough that the audience is on their toes the whole way while also easily sliding us into caring about the characters success. The characters seems real and we do worry for their well-being, while simultaneously the world is true enough for us to believe it. The acting is superb, but honestly that is to be expected. Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law are exellent actors and these roles are well within both their wheelhouses. Rachel McAdams is (in my opinion) still quite underrated, she has way more range than one would imagine. Mark Strong does villains quite well, so him being sinister and clever feels completely reasonable. The chemistry between these characters is believable and sparkling, we can tell all the actors understood the assignment very well. Directorially, Guy Ritchie can stand tall after this one. He has a bit of a checkered filmography, both some of my favorites and some of the worst movies I've seen are directed by him. His earlier work is absolutely superb whilst later on he unfortunately has directed some less desirable movies. The Sherlock-films are well worth a watch and he does some very cool things with his angles in this one. He seems to have approached it the way Sherlock would, never giving us really anything that wasn't needed. No lingering shots on things of no consequence, no long pannings that look great but doesn't propel us forward. All in all, everything you see on screen at all times matter and that is actually quite cool. A rare treat, so to say. All in all, a thrilling experience and a fun way to re-invest in the lovely world of Sherlock Holmes. Looking forward to the sequel! Once you are done with the Holmes-series, if you want to experience some more of Ritchies finer works I highly recommend the following: Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels (1998) Snatch (2000) King Arthur: Legend of The Sword (2017)

The martial art is a "hollywood-ized" interpretation of a late-1800's UK form called Bartitsu (or Baritsu). The style was founded by E.W. Barton-Wright and is a combination of Shinden Fudo Ryu jujutsu and Kodokan judo along with a healthy smattering of contemporary british boxing and and the French forms, savate and la Canne.

luciano marvelli

Yeah, these two movies are extremely entertaining. Big fan of Guy Richie.
