This movie was better than I remember. I think the reason why I remember not liking this movie much is because it was never really supposed to happen. If you are not aware, the first movie was intended to be Will and Elizabeth as lead characters and Jack as a supporting character and in a way that's really what it was, but Johnny Depp's performance stole the show both literally and figuratively and so Jack Sparrow morphed into a pseudo lead character with the original trilogy following the story of Will and Elizabeth. In this movie, Jack Sparrow truly is the lead character and while I like the romance between the cleric and the mermaid, it doesn't measure up to Will and Elizabeth nor does Blackbeard measure up to Davy Jones or Barbosa in my opinion. So I think that after At World's End they struggled with coming up with a new compelling story after they had ended the one they intended to tell. That's why I respect movies/shows that know when to end like Death Note or Breaking Bad.
