I love the improved visual effects and action choreography compared to the first film, the narrative is just convoluted and unfathomable. Just rambling nonsense of ancient evil. I felt like the plot relied too heavily on confusing flashbacks and exposition that failed to make the world-building engaging. But hey!! I won't argue watching Kate wearing a sexy skin-tight leather outfit, killing werewolves in awesome gore and viloence.

I had to rewatch the first one before enjoying this reaction. Isn’t it interesting, how in movies and shows, the important stuff in massive, ancient books is always the illustations, never the text. Movie makers assume that the audience doesn’t want to hear a character read the book; they want to see the images for themselves. Even though these movies are set in various European countries, and the extras sometimes speak the native language, many of the ancient main characters have English names.
