THE LAST OF US EP 7 FULL LENGTH REACTION

Tbh I'm very thankful for the extended left behind version. I think It's sort of a different experience watching in terms of what certain audiences want out of the show. You guys want the story to drive forward and the pacing to be consistent etc. All things that are totally fair and I can absolutely see where you guys are coming from. However, I'm very biased. Riley and Ellies relationship is just so special to me, and so to have as much of it as possible was an absolute treat and a privilege. I would not have this episode written any differently or traded for anything, which I think speaks to how deeply it was able to connect with people, (even if it was a minority haha), which I think makes it very similar to Bill and Franks episode. It was similar in that it focused on two characters outside of our main cast, (of the current story) and the entire episode was just seeing their story play out. Of course, in the end it connects to the plot, and we do see Joel and Tess in the middle, which I think helps ground the episode in the overall story a bit more. But I think This episode does something very similar, just in a different way. I think this was the perfect time to go back and show Ellies connections and past loss, since this moment treating Joel is so tied to her character and motivations. I don't think it takes too much away from the overall story either, because they were still able to wrap up the final two episodes without them feeling rushed or crammed. Basically I thought this episode was perfect as a character-building stone, and I like it quite a bit more than Bill and Franks episode even. (partly cause of lesbian bias ngl,) but also because it tells us something about one of our main characters, gets into her past, her motivations, and shows us where her pain and her personality comes from. I don't think It was a coincidence that Riley spoke and acted so much like Ellie, because I think that Ellie probably took a lot from Riley, and was inspired by her. I think that's partly why she keeps her sassy and witty personality even after Rileys death, as sort of a memory to her. But that's just the way I see it!
