I think the idea with the lightning on Oars working was that Oars is still remembering the pains from when he was Luffy. Something like fire would hurt a little but lightning, which Luffy has never experienced because he is rubber, would hurt that much more because it's a new sensation.

Also a lot of complaints in this fight can be contextualized when you realize just how big Oars is and how spread out the straw hats really are. I know the perspectives and angles make them all seem close but to fight a giant like that they must be couple hundred feet apart between groups so they can't just immediately get to each other and help

Usopp did add dials to the clima tact offscreen right before water 7 iirc, Nami mentions it later in The water 7 arc and we know it’s a newer model because this one has bumps/bulbs while the alabasta one was a straight pole.

The way they float in slow-mo like gravity just gives up, then outrun the camera on magically spawning terrain... is irritating asf 😂 Toei sucks at translating manga to anime but i get that they have to release weekly episodes. Every damn movement has that exaggerated slow-mo sway like everything’s dodgeable, then the camera cuts to recycled reaction shots & extra laughing & screaming. Animation and directing has the power to make any scene immersive or lifeless and boring so Toei is defs to blame for much of the fatigue and drag cause this fight is nowhere near as long in the manga.

Remember Geks, One Piece has always been weekly for 25+ years, they never had the production times/budget like seasonal animes to create amazing fights for every episode although it does continue to improve gradually, especially next arc. However, episode 892 is when One Piece production really starts to shine and since then it's been insane production levels for a weekly anime. You guys are currently 1/3rd through the available story so far (probably around 1/4 for the entire story) so just enjoy the ride because you can only experience this story for the first time once.

The newest version of the Clima Takt Usopp said he made it from dials, so it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. The first one though is a miracle of the gods for sure because how the hell did he do that

I think what I hate most about these fights isn’t so much what’s happening, but the pace at which those fights are. It’s almost like they’re showing us what happened manga panel to manga panel without taking into account that the standing there and talking without doing anything part is just odd. Keep in mind though, that One Pace/Manga wise, these two episodes would fit in one so it normally wouldnt feel like as much of a drag. Still, my favorite part about this has always been the fact that e fighting together against one enemy. Nonetheless, watching the evolution of One Piece fights is interesting, to say the least.

I wonder if Oda regrets not giving the clima takt to Nami until after Skypeia because of the introduction of dials in that arc. Must be hard not being able to change anything about the story once it's released, because he has to put out a chapter weekly

My hero is more consistently good and they're constantly glazing it. One Piece's highs are farther between but just as peak and they've really really enjoyed it's best moments. Depends on whether you've seen either already or not

The point of the Clima Takt is that on its own it's not that impressive, it can just make small things like hot air, cold air, and reasonable electric charges. Then Nami is able to use her knowledge and intuition of weather phenomenon to combine those small things into weird effects like mirages and giant thunderclouds. If it was just inherently really strong it would kind of take away from it being Nami that makes it strong.

I love this arc so much it's so goofy plus we get all the strawhats fighting together! Ik they didn't enjoy this arc as much as the previous ones but I hoped they would have watched more episodes.😅

The old man who asked luffy to fight Moria is one of them and they said that the victims can’t leave the island once they arrive at thriller bark and had their shadows taken since they can’t be in the sun (old man who looks like a zombie but isn’t-told them lol) so yeah they’ve said it before

The opinions are so valid. I love the creativity of Oars vs SHs but man...the sudden nightmare Luffy reveal...not great.. Even if the old man that appeared early in TB was the hint at others being on the island, it feels really convenient for them to pop out where Luffy happened to be at the time and go "We know the secret🤓☝️" I think it would have been better if it foreshadowed someone taking shadows like the ones in the zombies Brook was able to defeat.
