The Christmas Ep. had a lot in it but that’s when you figure out who Bakugo wants to tell his hero name to. When selecting a work study Bakugo has that flashback of telling Jeanist his rejected hero names and Jeanist telling him to come back when he has his license and he’ll ask him his name again then. And I think Shoto’s hero name was approved to just be Shoto. Correct me if I’m wrong tho, but yeah all those questions are technically covered in past episodes, it’s just about remembering everything lol

Honestly the Todoroki family arc might be one of the best parts of MHA outside of the hero stuff. It’s such a layered and surprisingly realistic story about abuse, trauma, and trying to break cycles but it’s handled with so much nuance.

All Might was around the same age as Deku when he received OFA (in the flashbacks when he’s telling Shimura Nana about how Japan needs a symbol, he is wearing a middle school uniform), hence why he was able to attend UA with a quirk. Then in All Might Rising (mini-comic tie-in to the first movie when they go to America), we learn that Nana sacrificed herself in his third year at UA to save him in a fight against One For All. After he graduates, in order to train somewhere OFA can’t reach him until he becomes powerful enough to face him, All Might is forced to go to America.

It's interesting to see how the MHA fans reacting to Endeavor's arc are similar to the Todoroki children. Some, like Fuyumi, are ready to forgive him because he's making an effort to repent. That Koda shirt is the most diabolical thing I've ever seen... OH MY GOD THERE'S 2 OF THEM Anyways, that aside... This episode is so good for Endeavour like I think it kinda shows his whole character in a single episode like I think you could show this to someone who hasn't seen the show and they'd understand his character decently well, hell I think you could just show them the line "I don't want forgiveness, I just want to atone" and they'd understand him pretty well, it's crazy to me that this episode exists and there's still people who don't understand Endeavour's character. That scene where he runs and grabs Natsuo had me teary eyed instantly, what is with silent scenes with white backgrounds just being absolute peak every single time Also I need to see Cannon show up with that Koda shirt on at least once... the pink one specifically

as someone who has a similar relationship to my dad as the todoroki family, most times, ppl are gunna feel like natsu tbh 😭 i still cant speak to my dad and its been well over half of my life now lmao forgiving and forgetting is one of the most difficult things to do in life when the pain will stick with you for as long as it takes to heal

Binge 5x20-25 then watch 6x1-3, then 6x4-9. I think thats a better flow but thats just my opinion, sometimes its important to stay on a cliffhanger for a few days.

TWO Koda t-shirts is absolutely diabolical i'm so dead someone needs to get them some rocklock merch too 😂 But I'm happy Horikoshi took the atonement route rather than just having Endeavour's family see him change and just decide to forgive because it's not the simple. Natsuo has every right not to forgive his dad just as Fuyumi and Shoto can decide to forgive him as they see him trying to be better. Might be a hot take but i honestly think Endeavour is the best written character in the show and his journey to stepping up to his mistakes is so well done.

Shoto’s hero name is Shoto. There’s no difference when spelled out in English, but there is in Japanese. Shoto in Kanji is 焦凍, but he used another part of the Japanese writing system known as Katakana to write his name as ショート. Katakana is used to phonetically spell out foreign words/onomatopoeia, but can also be used to put emphasis on a word. Shoto emphasized his own name as his hero name to show that he just wants to be his own person and not what Endeavor wanted him to be. He took the name Endeavor gave him at birth and rewrote it for himself to claim his own identity.

It also works since his name literally means "hot cold" based on the kanji. And since his kanji name is using the on'yomi, it's like he's using a different version of his name to separate himself. Only wish Horikoshi had used a furigana for his name. Like 'Scorched Ice', that would be a great hero name.

Great reaction guys! It was Jeanist who Bakugo wanted to tell his hero name to first. I love how he (Bakugo) says "number 1" haha. Enji is one of the best written characters, and this is the best side story of the entire show in my opinion. MHA is about to get a whole lot more serious from here on out. I was hoping you guys would binge the rest of season 5 because I think you guys deserve to sit with some episodes for a few days that are absolute masterpieces the next two seasons but I'm sure the S6 binge will be fun. imagine the person you hate the most saves your life, I'd be so mad cuz how tf am I supposed to feel now? Despise their guts but still feel indebted to them? It's kinda similar to when Jack asked if Natsu, despite hating his dad, still uses his money to go to college. When you hate someone that much, you literally want nothing to do with them. Horikoshi nailed it when he fleshed out the Todoroki family's trauma. Btw, I think Deku was careless and kinda imposed his own belief when he said "someone is kind when they're ready to forgive." It's not the victim's responsibility to forgive the penetrator when they got hurt so much it haunts their entire life. Never blame the victim for their trauma. Whether you forgive the penetrator or not doesn't speak for your kindness. And never once has Natsu mentioned that he hates Endeavor because he hurt him, but because he hurt his mother and siblings, and he feels enraged in their place. That's completely justified and in my opinion, makes him even more noble. Deku's carelessness in his words there also makes me like him even more, because like Shoto said, Deku likes to stick his nose into others' sensitive business. Very in-line with his character lol. The author also demonstrated that it's a good quality of a hero at times, but other times? Not so much. It's similar to how Deku confronted Kota about losing his parents in ss3, which made Kota even more defensive and withdrawn to open up. I think he realized his mistake after Natsu kinda villainized himself for not being "kind enough." All in all, I really like the way MHA shows that talk-no-jutsu doesn't always work and real life is more complex than something can be solved with a few words from a stranger.

Ngl i checked out during season 5, the season is not that great for me but i will say from episode 17 onwards it was very enjoyable. Todoroki family stuff was great and the last few episodes to finish off the season are great too. Season 6 and 7 are pure cinema.

That's great that Cannon got two Koda shirts! 🤣 As far as Natsu's schooling. He could have taken student loans out. That's how I got through college. It's a tough situation. Endeavor wasn't a great guy to his family. I get the sister wants to bring the family together, but its a hard thing to move past. It's sad, but if the mom is getting out, I don't think she'd be comfortable living with Endeavor. I do hope he still remains somewhat part of their life though.
