‏One Piece actually has some really dark themes like slavery, human trafficking, mass genocide, racial discrimination, child abuse, psychological torture and more. And that’s kinda the opposite of what the series looks like on the outside. It seems all happy and fun — and it is — but underneath, there’s a whole lot of darkness. ‏And that contrast is one of Oda’s strongest writing tools. He makes you feel like you’re in this fun adventure world, while slowly dragging you into some really painful and real stuff in a smart way. It’s kinda ironic too like take Sabaody for example. The island looks beautiful, colorful, even magical… but what’s actually happening there slave auctions, humiliation, exploitation it shows how ugly the world really is.

So the anime didn’t translate it but the information on the paper in sanji had in his hands at 28:58 is worth reading, it includes a list of different races/tribes of people. So here’s what it says(sourced from the manga): Human Trade Criminals and citizens of non-world government nations are acceptable goods. This arc is definitely better than water 7 imo but considering it's only 20 episodes i wouldn't say this particular batch is the still the beginning of the arc more like the middle but semantics lol. Taking all of that in water 7 still has a better beginning for me i.e. meeting Camie, Pappagu and Duval nonsense vs Robin immediately missing, CP9 and the Merry keel drama. But both are great in their own right :)

Kid's comment at 18:30, about Law's bad attitude, makes more sense if you read the manga. Law was showing him the middle finger, but it was censored in the Anime. Also Zoro isn't the vice captain or 2nd in command or anything. Oda has stated this multiple times, though international fans just seem to ignore it (decision making in the crew is mostly done by Luffy, then as a group, probs Nami, Zoro and Sanji occasionally though). In terms of strength Oda said at that time Zoro and Sanji are about the same. Though it always felt like Zoro was a bit stronger. You already met Shanks Vice-Captain. It is Beckmann. And you also met Whitebeard's, as Shanks tried to recruit him, during their meeting. Also I really enjoy your end discussions and thank you Jack for sitting through this with them. It must be so exciting and also frustrating, when you know what is still coming haha
