Time is quite literally inconsequential for elves in this world, like imagine if you didn't have a time limit inherently looming over you.... What would you actually be like? What would you do? What if you had no interest in relationships or any real reproductive urges? That's what's being explored her with Frieren compared to other species and I think it's absolutely fascinating! Also peak mini arc yay!!!!

Small correction for Cannon. There was ZERO mention of Flamme researching immortality or resurrection magic. You got that mixed up with the long dead guy called "Ewig" the sage and his grimoire on immortality & resurrection which Heiter had Frieren decipher in the earlier episodes. Flamme just found out about Aureole (heaven), the place where souls rest as far as we know. Fun fact: the author gave that dead guy the name Ewig, because that ironically translates into "eternal" even though he failed at creating magic for resurrection/immortality

Idk if this is true but I imagine that little girl demon learned the words "it hurts, Mom" from the little girl she killed as she called for her Mom while dying, they are just mimicking human language after all, she had to learn those words somewhere So excited for this arc, I wanted to make a joke about it but it kinda spoils the vibe of the arc so I'll resist the urge

I love Frieren's take on demons. They're not just a bunch of really evil entities with horns who just love to cause problems and kill humans, they're actual sociopaths who evolved that way to kill humans. Someone on another reaction's comment section described demons speaking like humans is like us using a bird call to hunt birds. We aren't trying to communicate with it, we're just trying to put it into a false sense of security to draw it out and kill it. Same way that the demons don't really understand human language, they just mimic the words and phrases that seem to get them a desirable outcome. Why try to overpower us when you can emotionally manipulate us and then stab us in the back. That's exactly what an intelligent creature evolved to kill humans would do to us in real life.

One reason I love rewatching things I've already seen with the Geks is because most of the things that they are watching I saw in dub the first time. So it's cool to see them in their sub form as well. For most shows I like them both equally. Frieren is one of those shows.

I am so happy carter noticed that the timespan of the demons acting up lines up with himmel dying. So what is up with that? Were they waiting for him to die? In the backflash the demon who wanted to offer up the village chiefs daughter said "But he is dead now" asking why it matters that this is the village chiefs daughter now that he is dead. Very interesting thought process of the demons. Maybe this means that they thought they couldnt become active again as long as he lived since he is seen as stronger than the demon king. But maybe it also has something to do with aureole being in the same place as the demon kings castle... now that himmel is there maybe something changed for the demons to become active again. Also Elves dying out is interesting as well. Overall great episode. Glad you can enjoy it

I wouldn't recommend it. Watching a show yourself and watching a reaction to it are different experiences. I find that the reaction is a lot more enjoyable when you know what is going to happen in the show already.

The scene where Himmel says that the biggest reason he made so many statues of the party was so that Frieren wouldn’t feel alone is really heartwarming. As the carriage driver mentions, human memory is pretty fragile 80 years is enough time for people to forget a lot of things. But this festival keeps their memory alive and reminds people of the hero party’s existence. Himmel really is the GOAT for doing this, so Frieren can look back on their adventures and talk about them with others too, since these statues prove that the experiences they had were real and not some fairy tale.
