Mann those flashbacks with Garp and luffy are so wholesome and show that tuff love. This arc for me really added more layers to garp’s character. Before marineford, you always knew he was important but he also, a lot of the time, was kind of like a happy go lucky older version of luffy. Always joking around or laughing off situations that seem serious. So it’s been really interesting to see how much more serious and conflicted Garp has been feeling right now because of the current situation being so serious and personal to him to the point where he can’t joke or laugh at all about it like he usually would. Garp is being tested with family vs his duty to the navy which he’s worked a long time for. Like him or not, but his character brings a lot of conversations to be had. lol didn’t mean to yap so much but I got in a little flow state. Anyways next batch needs 1k comments, op fans need to go crazy💯

One piece's ability to stir emotions in those who watch it, good bad and everything in between, is truely its greatest strength. Even in whitebeard's small flashback at the end there, or ace being freed, or garp and luffys wholesome flashback, those small moments that bring forth an emotion so happy/meaningful that it makes you want to tear up is something rarely achieved in media. It's easy to make someone feel overwhelmed with grief or sorrow in a story, but being overwhelmed with triumph or joy is a testament to Oda's ability to convey something very human to all of us.

Shanks is my favourite character and because of his encounter with whitebeard who was saying that shanks is a brat that needs 100 years to get to his level then him being so full of himself ignoring shanks’s words even tho they come from his concern and realistic look and brushing it off with saying “i’m whitebeard” i really thought he’s just an unlikeable and arrogant old head but this arc changed my whole perception of him even tho he just gets in action when he’s out of his prime and struggling so hard with his old age and all the wounds and everything thats happened in marineford yet he truly showed me what a chad he is and made me realise that him saying “ore wa shiro hege” (IM WHITEBEARD) was completely valid because of how he actually lived up to his name and what a great of a man he is let alone his destructive power and enormous aura his ideology his motive his relation with his crew all the things about him he is truly great and so down to earth i really enjoyed all of his moments like when he let luffy stand toe to toe with him and when he interacted with buggy and all of his other scenes were truly great him getting stabbed last batch felt like i was the one who got stabbed not him i really got to like him this deep from this single arc and now i have him in probably my top 5 characters in one piece , so goated

I love that Mr. 3 is such a smug "smart guy" in One Piece and then in Bleach the same voice actor does a character who is all about strength and brute force, and he does a great job as both Also just wanted to say, I get the comments people make about the admirals just kind of sitting around a lot when they watch this, but in reality they are just on permanent standby because of the threat that Whitebeard presents. Just the idea that he could rampage at any moment means they have to be perpetually at the ready. At least that's how it makes sense to me.

I really took this arc for granted the first time I watched it, cos every episode has just been banger after banger after banger. I love how every character that Oda has set up (besides our crew) has their moment in the biggest war since the Roger pirates era, a literal changing of the times. I especially adore everything with the Whitebeard pirates and Whitebeard dude, their thinking of treating someone who trusts them completely, someone they met by complete chance like their father because he gave them a shot no one else would is so beautiful. I especially love what Marco thinks about it as it can be applied to basically any aspect of life, "We know its just a word, but it makes us feel good!".
