For launch, Tally Ho carried a wreath of Cedar boughs on her bowsprit.

Decorating a boat for launch is an old tradition, and using Cedar in particular is a local practice which speaks to respect for the natural world and the indigenous Coast Salish people whose sustenance since time immemorial depended on the Cedar tree. These beautiful trees were used for building longhouses and carved into canoes. Sails, baskets, capes and clothing were made from the bark.

This wreath also incorporated Rowan (mountain ash), which is known as a plant of strong protection in British folklore, and Lilacs, which symbolise romance and playfulness.

Cedar boughs are symbols of gratitude and respect for life.
