For this first part of our cruise we are really lucky to be travelling with Argonaut II, a beautiful 73' wooden motor cruiser with a really interesting history. She was built in 1922 as a corporate yacht for the Powell River Company before she was sold to the United Methodist Church in 1937 to operate as a medical missionary boat. For the next 30+ years, she served logging, fishing, and First Nation communities up and down the remote coastline of British Columbia. Marriages and baptisms were performed aboard, as well as dental care and other medical procedures! She is powered by a magnificent Gardner 6L3, which replaced the original 3 cylinder Fairbanks Morse in 1940.

Her current owner, Nicholas, lives aboard and has been working hard to keep this special boat well-maintained and active. He has very generously opened his boat up to the Tally Ho crew, which meant we could invite the entire rebuild-team for the first part of the trip.

Would there be much interest in a video-tour of ARGONAUT II? The engine-room and start-up procedure are especially impressive!
