Good on yah both for all the sail handling - a lot of work on a gaft rigger

Just musing...I think the plywood should be on the outside and be raised a bit and on it's own platform. But since you've glued it in place, you might need a new top for the radar. ($$$$) Just a bit concerned about interfering signals between the two units. Are the two units digitally self-correcting to maintain a level horizon? Maybe mounting the top unit on the other side of the mast....

Leo, for your safety and those traveling near you, please turn on your AIS. It’s so much easier to hail another vessel if needed. Vessels around you will appreciate it! Thank you!

There was a post about cellphones and other devices being searched! If that is the case upload any personnel data of concern to a service and then wipe your phone of such data Always power down when you are in customs and disable biometrics like face detection! The laptop is another thing I never carry one so others will know more!, I also recommend a satellite phone with no personal data as the phone of record they are also a good safety provision!

The radar cover is only secured with small screws just enough to keep it on. There are very few forces on the cover in normal situations. But the plywood, bolts glue, the mounting bracket and the receiver add a new set of loads which in extreme conditions could pull the cover loose or off completely. I suggest adding something to strengthen the attachment of the cover to the radar support.

I had the same thought. The Radar cover will be under forces from wind that it was not designed for. As it is I think I would attach a leash so when it comes loose it wont go overboard.

I enjoyed your video. I hope you are going to use personal locator electronics while offshore in case someone goes overboard unexpectedly. Your life and health is worth the cost and effort to use them.

finally i figured out why this video bothered me. the plywood is cut square, but mounted in a round dome. like pounding a square peg in a round hole! i’m sure it will be fine, but think of the aesthetics! Please know i’m just joking.
