Content

I’ve been invited to take part in a pilot for a new Patreon feature called Quips - all my normal content is still in the same place, but this month there are a few special exclusive posts on the Patreon app, like this brand new mini-tour of Tally Ho!

Check the Quips tab in the Patreon mobile app for the full version of the mini-tour (make sure you have the latest app version).

I'm really interested to hear feedback on the additional new format, so let me know what you think. Bear in mind these posts are mostly made to try and attract new viewers.
Meanwhile I'll be working on the next full video. Thanks!

I think that now Tally Ho is built, you might pull emphasis back from the boat itself, and shift towards what's happening today, which is sailing, maintaining, navigating, and 'crew' human interest. If anyone goes "Wow, traditional sailing is amazing ... but what is the story with this boat?", that's all documented already. I guess I'd say that it has to be interesting for all viewers, to be interesting to any. "How we got to this point" isn't engaging because it says nothing about what happens next, which what people will return to see. Also, I'd stress the idea of community a little maybe. More than anything, "other people like this" will sway people toward thinking that then it must be worth it. "You're not just a lone person, watching some guy on a sailboat, you're part of a community that has formed around this man and this boat."

To be frank, the quips format doesn't give me much. I have followed this channel since very early in the build, and I love the way you mix beautiful images and great camera work with story telling, humour, and explanations of the background of what is going on. Carefully crafted high-quality content is what sets your videos apart from the rest. I don't see how it could ever be possible to bring this across in a 30-second format, and I feel your quips might 'dilute' the quality of your channel. Nevertheless, I'll continue watching them for a while to see whether you maybe find a magic formula to make them work. If not, I can always ignore them.

Too old (55) to be a fan of tik-tok style shorts, but if it brings the viewers in, go for it! We love the long form videos. The detail, craftsmanship, people and scenery keep us coming back.

Not interested. We miss the fortnightly 30 min posts. We felt like it was our journey and the people became family. We understand after 7 years you a bit tired of it all and looking for a changed. For us it was the challenges you have had to overcome and the video and woodworking skills you needed. Have you thought about visiting other boat builders and boat yards along your journey. Helping other people with their building issues might make you a boat building consultant. the problems you are incounting now might be part of the journey. We loved connecting with you on a fortnightly basis. It became our sunday dinner video to find out what Leo and the gang were up to. If you want the financial support then give us the the nuts and bolts of the boat. We have hardly heard about how difficult it is to sail , how does it handle? is it a good design etc Cheers Rob
