Dear Patrons,

I just wanted to write a few words to update you on the latest behind-the-scenes news!

Firstly, thank SO much for supporting this project so generously - every single bit really does make a huge difference.

Moving to Port Townsend has been a huge change and took a lot of work, but I feel like we are finally settling in to a good routine and flow now, and it feels like we are picking up the pace of progress. However, as the project gets more complicated and involves more systems and people, one of the most challenging things has been trying to effectively document all the different stories that are going on simultaneously! As well as making the video-production more time consuming and difficult, I worry that this could affect the quality and the “story” of each video.

My last few videos were a bit more focused on one particular subject or story. This actually made them a little easier to produce, and consequently I was able to release one every weekend for a few weeks.

So - do you guys prefer a wide-ranging video every two weeks, documenting a little part of all the things that are going on, or does it seem better to have slightly more frequent, slightly shorter but more focussed videos, each documenting one or two specific subjects (of course with the normal b-roll and side stories of the boatyard)?

Depending on popular opinion, and what works for me, I may lean towards one or the other, or a mix of both depending on the circumstances. Either way, I just want to let you all know WHY I’ve been developing these ideas and changing the videos very slightly.

I also want to let you know that if I do sometimes release more than 2 videos per month, and you have not set a monthly limit on your donation, this means you may be charged your pledge more than 2x per month.

If you don’t want to be charged for any extra videos, follow these instructions to set a monthly limit on your pledge.

1. Click on your Patreon profile icon (in the top right of this screen)

2. Click “Manage memberships”

3. Click “Edit” (next to Sampson Boat Co)

4. Click “I’d like to set a monthly limit”

5. Choose the amount you’d like to donate per video, and the maximum number of donations per month.

( If you want to make a single monthly donation, just set the monthly limit to "1" and enter the amount you want to give per month )

6. Click “Update”

If you’re okay with donating for more videos, then that’s great!! - don’t bother setting a monthly limit.

Either way, thank you SO MUCH for your ongoing support.

I’ll be talking a bit about this in tomorrow’s video, but you guys are the people who really make this project possible, and so it’s your opinions that are most important to me.

To be completely honest, there is of course another consideration to this - the costs of this project are a lot higher here in Port Townsend, and so the added revenue that could come from making slightly more frequent videos would be really helpful.

I really can’t overstate how incredibly grateful I am to all of your for your amazingly kind support of this project. I feel SO lucky to be able to keep doing this work, and I’m in awe of the wonderful and positive community that has grown around these videos. Thank you for being a part of it, and for making this all possible.
