Edit: Holy bananas. This post has ended up with more comments than any other ever. By a lot. Don't forget that this story is still an option in next month's poll.  It might get small updates, since my muse is still relatively strong with it. But the only way for it to get more than a small chapter here or there is for it to win one of the monthly polls :-p.

Alright! Just a few minutes ago (as of starting to type this, at least), I released a small surprise addition to A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure. The chapter I added brings us right up to the start of 2B's actual Journey, after a few more scenes with Daisy. There it is revealed (slight spoiler but not really an important one) that 2B will be getting an 'official' starter Pokémon. As in, the League will consider it her starter. She'll still get to take Jigglypuff with her, as it is already registered to her. So this will be in addition to Jigglypuff. She'll also get to pick from an expanded list, rather than just the traditional Kanto starters, due to her work with Daisy at the ranch attached to Oak's lab.

The following is a shortlist of the Pokemon I consider might fit well with 2B for various reasons. The winner of this poll will become her 'starter' and join her from the beginning of her Journey along with Jigglypuff! All Patrons are allowed to vote, and there is no weighing of the vote this time, so it's just a straight vote! I'll let this poll run until the end of the month, since there's no way the story will be updated before next month at the very least...

Special Note: Only Pokemon from Kanto are being considered BUT...if the Pokémon chosen has a Non-Kanto variant, I'll run a second short poll to determine if people would prefer to see the Variant Version. In example, Vulpix is on the list and if it wins, a short secondary poll would be run to see if people want to see the standard Vulpix or the Alola variant.

Liking that vulpix is on the list (ninetails' lore is awesome... hmm wonder if anyone's done a pokemon/mass effect crossover with a matriarch with an ancient ninetails that's their starter/been with them since childhood) and that it's currently leading. Though I think having 2B have an Alolan variant (that she's helping research for the lab as well) as her starter would be cool. Really any variant would seemingly fit for 2B, as both would be in a land not their home.

Mr Fox

I bet most people are voting for vulpix because they read borne of caution

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I admit, I tossed a vote of my own behind Vulpix, but it's entirely because Vulpix/Ninetails is one of my favorite Pokemon and has been since Gen 1 :-). I actually have read at least some of Borne of Caution, but it's been quite some time since I kept up with it and I honestly didn't remember that the MC there had a Vulpix *shrug*.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

...Darn it, now I want to do a Pokemon/Mass Effect crossover. If only to see the Reapers freak out at eating volley fire of Hyper Beams to the face. The point about her having possibly helped research them for the lab is a good one, too. Particularly if Daisy was trying to determine if environmental variants like that result from something like environmental Aura changing them. It doesn't even have to be true, it's just a logical thing for someone trying to pin down as much as they can about Aura to check...

Keht Jelicho

Hey, mass effect eridium dreams is still new enough that you could still add in other crossover elements. There could be a protected world of pokemon (without humans?) Within Asari space or some such. Or even just throw in Aethyta (or however her name is spelled) as having been one of the dimension transfers into the pokemon world as a maiden and have her have a Ninetails among her team/still living from her time as a maiden. That could even have been how she became such a powerful figure to start with. It's not full volleys of hyper beams, but it is hyperbeams from an ancient ninetails. And with the aura transfer stuff introduced in the latest update, perhaps it isn't even environmental aura that is the limit of what can be tested. If she can transfer ice energy to a regular vulpix slowly enough, can she change it into an "Alolan" one? Or once she ends up with an Eevee, can she make a new eeveelution by transferring new aura? Drageon? Rockeon? Groundeon? Steeleon? (Or other names, umbreon isn't Darkeon, and Espeon isn't Psycheon after all). Heck with her work with Fairy energy and possibly the timeline- could 2B be the first to evolve a Sylveon in this world?

Keht Jelicho

Ok, I know you're limiting the starter to the Kanto-dex (though honestly with Johto right there next to Pallet I would have used that to justify some of the more common Johto types as a possibility), which does contain Porygon (not sure on the Porygon-2 and Porygon-Z variants) so may have 2B acquire one. But I really hope her interest in tech and computers gets her some rotom. With a Porygon for software and a Rotom for hardware the enhancements/modifications to the tech that 2B could make would really be something.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Sadly, I disagree about Eridium Dreams :-p. I'm pretty careful in planning out crossovers so that they don't oversaturate the main world/reality to the point it doesn't feel like the same universe any longer. I already pushed Eridium Dreams much harder than most of the other stories (which I think is part of it's problem getting votes), adding a fairly significant change like that on top of how far it's already diverged, and I'd probably kill it. Instead, it the idea will likely become one of the EXTREMELY long list of story ideas I have jotted down. I have dozens, of varying quality. Usually, when I introduce a new story, I just pulled one such that I was feeling particularly inspired by out of that mass. Heck, I have a half dozen that are various iterations of Fantasy Setting X/Mass Effect, as it is very easy to glue them together just my replacing ME humans with another IPs humans. Would be a very fun out-of-context problem to throw at both the Reapers and Council, too. I've seen a handful of stories that tried it, but most are dead, and I don't think I've ever seen one that truly fused it the way I'd love to see. A humanity that had gone entirely down a Magitech development tree, instead of messing with ME tech, and has radically different everything as a result. Golem armies, weapons that fire elemental 'spells,' ships that achieve FTL by enchanting the hull to be mass/frictionless, potions of healing, spells of polymorph that turn Saren into a very confused sheep, etcetera. A version of humanity that, by the time they found Ezeo, thought it was a cute novelty item for kids science kits, because they already had magical solutions equivalent to it or better. The Aura transfer/infusion idea is a neat one. I actually read a fic recently that played with the idea a bit, where a reincarnated character becomes Brock in a more serious Pokemon world. He plays with using environmental effects and aura to try breeding new variants, or variants he knew Should exist. Hard Enough, I think the story is called. Though I haven't kept up with it since reading all that was available at the time I read it. It's also absolutely something they could run with...if I wanted to focus on that :-p. Since the intended focus is 2B's Journey and he efforts to fit in/find her place now that she's human, it would mostly just be a distraction, I think. Edit: Since we're a few years past Ash's start, I suspect that Fairy energy is already known, that I'd have to look up the exact timeline on that...if I even can. I'm using a mix of the games and anime, so it's a bit hard to pin the timeline down.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I'm only limiting the Starter to the Kanto-Dex, on the grounds that I assume the local League for each region would prefer to use home grown Pokemon for their trainers. A national pride thing. Kanto/Johto are a bit complex in that they are sort-of-kind-of linked on a governmental level. But it's still fairly clear that each has it's own regional pride/identity. So, still just the Kanto-Dex for a Starter. For future Pokemon, I'm going to open up the possibility of 2B being able to find at least Johto Pokemon in Kanto because of how close they are. And that she'll be able to run into or encounter the occasional Pokemon from other regions as well. Either as opponents, or acquired via breeders/trade/rescuing abandoned or stolen pokemon. As for Porygon, if I remember correctly they are rather rare since they are artificially created. I tried to steer away from giving her anything TOO insane in rarity. The Dratini I only included because of Oak having a Dragonite from his own personal Champion team still around. It having kids and grandkids floating around the ranch was something I figured could make a lot of sense. Edit: As for Rotom...I think they were introduced in Alola...and I realllly want 2B to end up there at some point, so it's certainly possible ;-).

WhatAFungi

I want the little dragon snake! But dragonite looks sooooo stupid! If I vote for rhyhorn, will you be including the non-kanto evolutions? Or what about the Klevlor evolution for scyther?

Tigger42

I like the thought that the bad*ss former android has a link to cute pink fairy types. I would love an alola vulpix starter to keep the trend.

Keht Jelicho

Hard enough is pretty cool, but likewise I haven't kept up with it in a while. I wasn't (and am not) sure if sylveon came out the same generation that fairy types were added. Part of me felt that sylveon came out the next generation. From an in-world perspective I figure that fairy type energy was first classified/quantified/indentified in the various "known" pokemon (reclassifying some normal types/others becoming dual type) then the moves those pokemon use/the fairy energy was tested to see what other pokemon could learn moves with it, and eventually someone taught an eevee a fairy move and it used it as the basis/focus for its evolution. Sylveon is the first eeveelution to not use external influence (time of day, evolution stones/special location) so it's particular case seemed like enough of a difference from the rest of eevee's evolutions that to me it seemed something 2B could inadvertently discover, and by which she could further frustrate Daisy since sylveon is different from the other known evolutions.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yep. All evolutions will be possible in all regions. As evidenced by her Jigglypuff starting out as an Igglypuff, which didn't exist in Gen 1. So both Kevlor and Rhyperior are options for their respective pokemon. Edit: No her team won't be region-locked. Her initial team will end up mostly Kanto/Johto, simply because that's where she's doing her first circuit. Johto pokemon get a chance due to the regions being connected. However, I fully intend for her to visit Alola eventually as well, and she may also get chances to acquire/trade Pokemon from other regions.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Hmm, that is a very interesting idea with the Sylveon, I admit. I took a quick look at anime appearances, and it looks like the only major appearance is one owned by Serena. Which would be the fifth/sixth series (Japan vs Western). I haven't pinned an exact timeline down for where Ash is right at the moment 2B starts her own Journey. But if I treat each circuit as a year, by the time he meets her...he'd have done Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Battle Frontier, Sinnoh, and Unova before meeting her. That's a minimum of six years, and I was roughly estimating Ash to be in his fifth year when 2B arrived. So...it would work out if I wanted it too. Particularly as Serena's started out as an Eevee and didn't evolve until later (apparently, I personally haven't watched NEARLY that far in the anime, I'm getting this all from the wiki). That is an EXCELLENT idea, then. I actually sort of which I'd made an Eevee an option on the poll :-p. I was sort of fighting clichés with the choices, though, and Eevee is a super common cliché for a crossover or insert character. Still, it wouldn't be hard for her to acquire or rescue one...or even for Daisy to point her in the direction of one in an attempt to see if Aura had an affect on their evolutions...

Keht Jelicho

Heck, there are several minor Gyms in Kanto (Gary had more than 8 badges) so you could have 2B be given an Eevee from the normal type gym if nothing else works out.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

True. Or simply buy one from a breeder if she has some reason to suspect something. I DID sort of make her rich(ish) due to her meddling with Bill's math to both improve the Pokemon Storage System and create a better item-storage for trainers that can afford the new tech based on her math.

Keht Jelicho

Wait! Isn't Bill like a super Eevee freak? I think he's shown as having a whole bunch of them. You *have* already established them knowing one another. Once he learns she is starting her pokemon journey he could send her one, or give her one if/when she visits him during the journey. (Also, I just came across Shiny Dratini and Dragonair, I didn't think I could like Dratini and Dragonair More and simultaneously also hate Dragonite more, but they somehow did it with those shiny variations. No reason for bringing this up really. I just really needed to get that out there.)

Keht Jelicho

Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash variants at some point please. Cute fairy Fluffy unicorns. They don't even have to be part of 2Bs team. Heck, actually I think having Daisy get them would almost be even better- on a meta level, Daisy really deserves something for everything she's dealing with by being 2B's friend. In-story, I could honestly see 2B getting Daisy one as a gift- once she has connections and/or status to go along with her wealth. I just like that variant of a Kanto-dex pokemon next after alolan Ninetails.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I've never actually played Sword and Shield, so I know basically nothing about those except their typing and fairy unicorn looks :-p. I'm certainly not against them making some sort of appearance eventually, though. If nothing else, 2B riding in on one blank faced and telling Daisy 'here, this is for you, it's cute' then leaving the pokemon and Daisy just staring at each other...equally confused. Maybe not even mention how 2B got it...

Keht Jelicho

If nothing else, that scene snippet right there has been worth it. I just like them as my favorite "horse" and/or Mount-type pokemon in general, and I prefer the use of a Mount pokemon to a Bicycle. (My head-canon/pokemon fic ideas generally include a process by which a trainer can register a pokemon as a Mount to disqualify it from any official/league/gym/tournament battles [though not necessarily from Contests and the like, or mount specific competitions like races or the like] and in doing so have it no longer count against the "carry limit" while still being available to fend off wild pokemon if needed, and of course let it serve as a Mount/travel/transport option.) The firey Mane of the Kanto Ponyta/Rapidash always made me leery of their use as a mount. So I was happy for them to get a regional variant/new typing.

TheZombieDoc

I know I'm going to lose the poll, but I still think it'd be hilarious if she got her hands on a Galarian farfetch'd. 2B's whole shtick is absurdly oversized weapons. Look me in the eyes and tell me that little fighting type wouldn't grow up to be an absolute monster, especially when it evolves.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Sirfetch'd is literally the only reason I added Farfetch'd to the list ;-). There doesn't seem to be any explanation for why it has to be a Galarian Farfetch'd (beyond it being introduced in the relevant game). So...

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I honestly think that headcanon makes sense, and I think I've seen it floated once or twice in stories? Couldn't swear to that, though. Also, yes. Ash riding a Kanto Ponyta with his crotch right in the middle of the flames was the first proof we had that he had balls of steel. Long before he punched Mewtwo.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Huh, that's a good point. I'd actually forgotten all about Bill being into Eevee. I really need to actually play the game/watch the first few seasons again before I get too far into this T-T. I honestly never actually minded the Dragonite base appearance...but the shiny is a crime against Pokémon and good sense alike >_<. Which is such a pity since the shiny versions of the Dratini and Dragonair ARE awesome. Hmm...I suppose it's my story, so I can totally fix that stupid green color. If I claim 'Aura did it' with a straight enough face...

Christian E. Y.

Yeah I see no readon she can’t simply get pokemon through trades. Also who is voting for vilpix and why? If its just for the fluff, what about eevee?

Christian E. Y.

I can easily see 2B teaching swordsmanship to a scyther. Or boxing to a buneary. Hopefully she’ll get a scyther at some point even if not as an starter. Also I’m surprised you didn’t bring up a magnemite.

Christian E. Y.

Whole schtick? Her only really oversized weapon type is the greatsword, tho? Then again I just loved using the gauntlets and the spear.

Christian E. Y.

I really want scyther to win, but know what? I think an Onix would be interesting. A dratiny may open the door for drama as other trainers accuse her of growing with a silver spoon in her mouth and of buying her sponsorship. Think about it, she is probably very wealthy but has no concept of money value, acts ‘sheltered’ and her starter is a dratiny? I’m quite happy the dratiny isn’t winning. Also, dragonite looks derpy

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Onix doesn't really fit with 2B as I've written her...and is honestly kind of a weak, anyway. Something I could fix, as it makes no actual sense in-universe, but it still wouldn't really fit her currently. As for looking spoiled...meh. 2B herself wouldn't give a damn, so I don't really see how it matters. And anyone who bothered to actually get to know her would learn that she got it due to working directly for Oak's lab for a year, rather than buying it.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

That's actually precisely why Scyther made it on the list. Same with Farfetch'd, actually. Both of them are Pokemon that 2B could teach a lot about using their weapons. Making them a little terrifying once she's had a chance to properly train them.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Most of her spears would count as oversized. And her standard sword, Virtuous Contract, is actually oversized for its type by a good third it's length. So, honestly...Zombie Doc is kinda right. The gauntlets are the only thing she uses that doesn't fall into the oversized category.

Christian E. Y.

How did Gyarados get stuck? Did he evolve in a cave with too small an exit? Remember that thing is water/flying so it can be extra terrifying. Anyway, if it evolved on too shallow a river, it can just fly to the sea. I’m sure seeing gyarafos flying to the sea after evolving inland must be such an interesting kind of terror. Even if she doesn’t starts with a scyther I really hope she gets one soon. It just makes too much sense.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yeah, but this is fanfiction, where the most minor deviations always get you called out by someone :-p. Though I think enough people hate the Green Dragonite nonsense that I'd probably be cheered instead in this case...

Christian E. Y.

Of course she wouldn’t care, but I’m just pointing out what it’d look like. Either way is moot since it doesnt look like dratiny will win. I wonder if the gyarados will become attached and follow her? Remember, gyarados is water/FLYING. I think a puppy gyarados trying to be discreet as it fliats behind her would be funny. “What do you mean, wild encounters? Nothing tried to attack me on my way here”. Of course she encountered zero low level wild pokemon. They were all spooked away by the gyarados floating behind her and glaring down at everything

Christian E. Y.

I completely agree. It makes no sense for onix to be weak. Anyway I was thinking of a future steelix.

Keht Jelicho

Or they're like me and don't care for Dragonite being the third form (seriously, I everstone Dragonair if/when I get one, and headcanon that Dragonite is a separate single form dragon type pokemon)

Novus's Fanfiction Works

So...Gyarados is confusing as fuck. It's considered a flying type...but it can't actually learn 'Fly.' Nor can it have the 'levitate' ability. The only place it's actually been seen to fly is in the anime...which is dubious in its accuracy at times. The fact that the original reason it was giving the flying type instead of dragon was, in fact, purely a game balance issue for Gamefreak doesn't help either. Personally, I don't subscribe to the idea it can fly. If you do, than just imagine it was unlucky enough to evolve between a set of rocks that ended up pinning it in place.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Ha, that's a pretty strong level of hate for Dragonite there :-p. Like I said before, I don't actually mind Dragonite's final form. Even if it is a little bit of a strange change up. It might be a bit dorky looking, but that honestly fits the personality of most of them too.

Keht Jelicho

I have nothing against them except as a third stage to the dratini line. It's dorky look and personality do fit well together. I just don't like how the evolution progression goes from shy water noodle to elegant/graceful weather god(dess) to chonky doofus with a completely different body type. I'd prefer the third form, if it had one, of the dratini line to have been an oriental dragon- i.e. a Noodle with limbs. Maybe some horns. Or have Dragonite live with/watch over/act as guardian to dratini/dragonair, but be a separate species. Or if dratini is to eventually evolve into Dragonite, have it have an alternate secondary form where it gains limbs/looks halfway between the two forms. Have dragonair be a different evolution route (like some of the other pokemon with branching evolutions). Something. Heck even just have a new regional variant

Christian E. Y.

I see. I blame pokemon legends for having a gyarados flying near a waterfall and enjoying the water spray, then. Video here (if link doesnt work just look for pokemon legends arceus flying gyarados in youtube). https://youtu.be/HwS5mBRAfgU?si=FsPQRuT4z8I2lb8-

WhatAFungi

In Pokémon legends Arceus, you can see it flying around in some areas. Just wanted to point that out 👉👈

Aojae

Quick Q: How much are you going to be messing with non-canon variants? Or evolutions that don't exist? Like say, hatching a pokemon from an egg that's supposed to be one type- like say a firetype... I dunno, charmander, and it turns into a fairy or metal typing due to aura exposure or something?

Christian E. Y.

To quote: While its not necessarily authentic to have a "regulation length" when talking about real, historical spears, the sizes have been chosen to give good control of a warrior’s surroundings. One handed spears must be no longer than 5'6” in length. Two handed spears must be no longer than 7'6” in length. “Great spears” must be no longer than 9'10” in length.

Christian E. Y.

Waiit come think about it. Why a rhyhorn but not a taurus? Specially the one she lifted.

Aojae

I think it was implied that aura is generally neutral until attuned and doing multiple attunements is somewhat hard. 2B doesn't care about the later fact

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Mostly because of the evolutions available. I've never been a fan of Pokemon that don't have evolutions, as it sort of leaves them feeling limited in how they can/do grow. I picked out Rhyhorn specifically because it has both a commonly known evolution in Rhydon, then one that 2B could learn about/discover in Rhyperior. Since this is her starter, that's going to stick around for a long time, I wanted only options with decent growth potential. Hence every pokemon on the list has at least one evolution stage.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

@Aojae I'm currently undecided on that point. The fact that she's working with Daisy on studying Aura opens up the opportunity for her to stumble into new evolution options. But I'm unsure if I want to do that or not, as it would be a fairly involved departure. At the very least, it won't happen for a while, since anything like that would take either specialized breeding or specialized circumstances. It might be something she intentionally explores farther down the road, as she learns more about pokemon and meets more pokemon professors. @Christian E. Y. Aura is, as I understand it, the basic neutral energy everything in Pokemon works off of. Aura only because Typed once it's put through a move, or channeled by a pokemon that is itself typed. Aura alone is essentially just untyped life force, I think. At least, that's how I'm treating it. 2B is unusual in that she can summon up the untyped Aura, much like Aura Guardians. She will be able to learn from observing her Pokemon how to shift it into typed energy. She also has a stupid amount of it by normal standards, since whatever converted her from Android to Human (yes I have an idea what or who did that, no I'm not giving hints) converted the Fusion core that she used as an Android into her 'Aura Power.' She can't use all of it yet as she just flat out doesn't know what to do with it beyond making constructs and physical enhancement, but she's potentially pretty powerful. Hence why she was able to spank that Garyados into behaving.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

*shrug* Yet, it can't learn Fly or the have the Levitate ability in any of the games according to the various Wiks. Like I said, lore for that particular pokemon is a freaking mess. More so than any other single pokemon I know of.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Unless it was for formation fighting, actual practical lengths are determined based on a person's height, just like with staffs. And spears used for solo combat were traditionally on the shorter side, not the longer. Even a 6'6" man would likely stick with a weapon under 9' in length for solo combat use. 2B, even with her heels, is canonically only 5'6". So she should likely be using a spear under 8' even as a two-handed weapon. Which...okay, yeah. Most of the spears are actually not too oversized for her if my vague memories are correct. Though the way a lot of them are built they are super overblown in weight design (comically huge spear heads with a lot of extra weight). Completely fine for 2B since she's stupidly strong, but probably still qualifies them as 'oversized' for a regular human.

Keht Jelicho

Hah! I forgot about that. Think I only saw that episode (or part of an episode with that scene) once in person, and had forgotten about it/not seen it brought up in ages either. Cyclizar from Gen 9 (Scarlet/Violet) apparently can go up to 70mph and is canonically a very common mount in its region. But since those games give you a legendary as a Mount basically from the start (and since I haven't progressed far story wise after having lost my switch for a year after I got started on Violet) I am unsure if the games have any mount mechanic for pokemon other than the legendary. That being beside the fact that the Gen 9 region I think is supposed to be one of the most remote regions and may not even have (re)connected with the rest of the regions at the current point in the timeline, and thus it's pokemon may not even be available as rare/expensive options in Kanto. (And now that I think of it, Galar may be a similar case of being remote enough to have limited/no contact with Kanto.) But basically I bring it up because Gen 9 actually had a mount mechanic in game that could be looked into if you're wanting to reference game mechanic for ideas for your story mechanic, should you include one.

Keht Jelicho

So, if we go with the "original 150/151" as those recognized/counted at the time of Ash's Journey in Kanto, and have Porygon be a just created pokemon at that time. And porygon 2 was a gen 2/johto, and porygon-z was a gen 4 pokemon/from sinnoh games. Then you had said at some point about having each season of the anime being a roughly a year, and since the Orange Islands don't have a game but you included them and said something about Ash's Journey having gone on for 5 or 6 years... could 2B learn about the Porygon .. series(? Not really an evolutionary line so much as a refinement/upgrade/update) from Professor Oak being sent one/sent info on one by Ash? Since they are artificial, and to my headcanon that means they are created digitally/as a software and then uploaded to a PC/Box to then be sent from one to a pokeball in an attempt to be able to release into the real world. Then based on that, could 2B actually look at their data, see the flaws in their design(s) and fix them before repeating the experiment, but using her own modified/created hardware/PC (and modified pokeballs?) And make her own series of porygon/artificial pokemon? Heck, what if she added Pod programming and/or built a Pod to upload her version of a Porygon/software/digital/artificial pokemon into? Basically use the Porygon series as a basis, when combined with her software and hardware knowledge, to make an AI pokemon.

Keht Jelicho

Actually, if you have Daisy join 2B on her journey (at least for Kanto) -which, honestly, I could see Daisy doing so out of a desire to try and keep 2B out of trouble/be her common sense, then you could have Daisy get the Eevee and have Daisy be the one to experiment/discover the Sylveon evolution. You've already shown Daisy learning to use a fairy type move on her own. Her going further to teach an eevee wouldn't be a stretch.

Keht Jelicho

What about 2B getting a Honedge/Doublade/Aegislash and just outright using/wielding them as weapons to physically attack herself?

Christian E. Y.

Now that’s just silly. She may as well grab a magicarp by the tail and use it to bitchslap opponents until it evolves into a gyarados called mr. Fish

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I mean, she could do that, but I have a feeling the Pokemon wouldn't like it. So, unless it's an enemy Pokemon...though that would actually make it funnier. Some Team Whatever with such a Pokemon has their Pokemon grabbed and used to beat up the rest of their team...

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I honestly only remembered because someone made a meme about it that pops up every once and a while :-p. As for Mount options, Sun and Moon had Ride Pokemon a lot earlier than that. Though, honestly, I'll likely just make that a common thing. A lot of stuff that was obviously introduced where it was purely because game mechanics got better, will likely be things that I make 'normal' for the Pokemon universe 2B is in. Ride Pokemon are just good sense, given that even regular old humans like us domesticated horses and camels and such for the task.

Honestly I was making a reference to a very old webcomic called Manly Guys Doing Manly Things. Basically a job agency oriented to manly main characters that, after the end of their adventures, need to find regular jobs. Like Kratos selling electronics, duke nukem working as a fitness trsiner, big boss (snake) running a pmc and a kid eho has a magicarp as his starter and had to grab it and use it to nitchslap opponents until mr fish evolved into gyarados

So, first, a couple of corrections for clarity: 1) I'm only using the 150/151 as KANTO's regional Pokedex. Essentially, a list of their regionally 'native' pokemon, which is why they want only those to be used as starters. Functionally, Johto Pokemon will be relatively common in western Kanto (where 2B starts), simply because of natural migration. She'll be able to encounter/catch many such pokemon. And he 'Dex won't be region-limited because she's technically also a lab assistant for Oak, who works with basically all the regional professors. Her Dex will likely have the complete listings, as of how many regions have reconnected. 2) Porygon should also have already been around for years, since that was very early in the anime anyway. VERY early. As in, episode 38. Given that episode is the infamous 'Seizure episode' that caused a significant portion of the audience that say it to...have seizures. It, well...hasn't been seen outside the original showing in Japan :-p. I'm not sure we know how, exactly, it was made. Only that it was manmade. 3) *holds up dramatically crossed arms* Oh dear lord, no! Not every SEASON is a year. There are TWENTY seasons. No, each 'circuit.' As in, each League or similar that Ash participated in. I'm running with a common idea in Pokemon fanfics that each League runs a year long circuit, starting with trainers getting their starters, and ending in the yearly League Conference. With then a few months for the gyms to recover before it all cycles again. This would mean that I think only the first two seasons would be one-to-one, seasons to years. Johto broke that trend by taking THREE seasons to cover a single League. And that became fairly common from there. Now, those out of the way...regarding the 'could 2B improved Porygon? Almost certainly. I could even see Bill asking her if she could reproduce one. Specifically as regarding Pod programming though...nope. I don't go into in Automata, since it's not relevant to how Izumi and 2B are using the Pods...but Pods are Machine Intelligences reworked and shackled by YoRHa. As in, the Machine enemy faction from the game. It's extremely unlikely 2B has ever even seen the code for the Pods, since it would virtually certainly be consider the equivalent of a Cognitohazard for most Androids to look at that code. As a Execution Model, 2B wouldn't have ever had a reason to be authorized for that. I suppose she could made a Pod Pokemon if she wanted, maybe, but it would be just a look-alike, rather than having any code in common with a Pod.

Sun and moon may have had Ride pokemon (never played most of the DS games, only Black and even that was because a girlfriend at the time had White, and gave me her old DS with a broken hinge to be able to trade her the other starters/exclusives.) But as far as I know, Sword and Shield was the first with an open field, and scarlet/violet had the whole region as basically one entire semi-open world. Like you said, it is a case of hardware improvements, in this case the Switch, but I brought up scarlet/violet for it's open world/exploration aspects. The mount is actually required to get some places (similar to bikes in other games) and the open world exploration feels more in line with the anime (what with how often ash and them get lost, and how often you can get lost in scarlet/violet without the map to help you (it's on a rotom phone and acts like a modern phone app map/navigation/GPS, especially in comparison to the paper maps in early seasons of anime). The roaming mount aspect/ability to explore areas inaccessible on foot (though 2B is more capable than most other humans, so mount may be more beneficial for any companions (daisy?) Traveling with her) is why I was pointing at gen 9's mount set-up.

Eh, not so much on having Daisy join. The whole point for 2B to go on the journey (by Oak's thinking) is to have her grow into herself, which is what Journey's are for. Given that's the prevalent thinking of the entire Pokemon world, I can't see Daisy doing that. It would be a sort of cultural taboo, like dragging your mom with you to attend college classes. That said, I think Gary's Eevee originally came from either Oak or Daisy? So she might just end up discovering the Sylveon simply because she has one on her own team. We don't actually have much information on what he personal team consisted of. I think we only know of two Pokemon that were on it, as she's a pretty minor (if recurring) character.

Fair enough, I just remembered something about 2B having a floating drone/Assistant and not much else (only played a demo, and watch a roommate play one of the games a few times, and read a few fanfics tangentially bringing in Nier content, haven't even gotten far in My Hero Automata (not being familiar with either source material can be an obstacle to easy reading, though then again I am not familiar with one piece and have been enjoying Halfway broken). Anyways, my point/reason for suggestion was the idea of 2B getting a floating assistant (especially since I saw they can apparently fish, and 2B made a comment about fishing and didn't seem enthused for it) and I wanted the "answer" to 2B's computer problems to be to use pokemon... or inversely, possibly the reason she finds the hardware/software to have differences/lag behind in some areas is because she isn't using pokemon? Like if Bill developed his PC by looking at the data recorded on/by the team to make Porygon. That simply by existing porygon has led to a large advancement, and they're still working towards understanding how to recreate what porygon could do "organically"/"naturally" (neither term really apply to an artificial/digital pokemon, but you hopefully understand what I meant in using them). Basically 2B is missing out on half the circumstances/half the picture due to looking solely at the tech itself, and not at how it emulated or is enhanced by pokemon. Give her/have her create a.. I'll call her version a Porygon-B, or PB to her 2B, and rather than physically manifest it, have her transfer it to a computer. Heck, she's trying to create/adapt vocal and other commands to be able to use her visor. Pokemon are trained to listen to/obey commands, if she had a digitized porygon living in her visor would that let/enable a better control interface? If she later gets a rotom/rotom phone, etc- would that equate to a better working computer/hardware? Can a rotom-merged physical tech/hardware run a Porygon(?) Enhanced software/host a digital porygon software inside the rotom hardware? Would that be a way of 2B reaching a more comfortable/familiar level of tech?

Ok, I see where you're coming from, and I point to the Canon example of Brock Stone, a Gym Leader tagging along on a newbie trainer's journey. And to a lesser extent the similar case with Misty (though realistically she's more of an inheritor of her family's gym, along with her sisters, who is seeking to improve herself to do justice to her image of her parents' running of the gym). More experienced individuals seeking to improve themselves/learn something new can join a league participant's journey without participation in the league. Plus with how much and how quickly 2B is discovering/creating new techniques/Moves and discovering uses for aura, well that combined with the track record of people being out of contact for long periods of time during journeys. Well the only real option for Daisy to keep up with everything 2B is doing is to tag along. I just kinda saw Daisy going along with 2B in Kanto as doing field research in preparation for writing/publishing the poke-world equivalent of a doctoral thesis. Whether 2B did the Orange Islands, or went to Johto afterwards she'd have gotten her feet under her/gained a better sense of how to interact with the world at large, and Daisy would leave her to write up/present/defend her work and become a fully acknowledged Professor in her own right within another year or so afterwards. Possibly showing up periodically as she travels to/works with various other professors in the other regions? That's likely highly different from anything you have planned, judging from what you've said here. But I just felt like you had been building up Daisy into being a main supporting character (for at least this first arc) if not a secondary main character. Daisy's more human perspective has given a more relatable baseline to understand how people in the pokeworld see 2B, rather than just seeing the pokeworld from 2B's perspective. Both perspectives have their place in really showing how 2B will learn and grow into her new world and her self as a human. If nothing else, having Daisy accompany 2B on the first leg (maybe she is needing to head to indigo plateau/pokemon League headquarters and can go with 2B to Viridian City at least, and hopefully you'll then introduce another character to journey with 2B (Daisy giving warning/a tutorial/translation/guidebook for 2B to them would be humorous). 2B needs a humanizing element to her journey, otherwise she's liable to backslide, and you've done a good job of showing how Daisy has been acting as that humanizing element so far. Apologies for assuming you were setting up/leading to Daisy going along with 2B to help/be a human element. They just seemed to go together well.

I hope at some point we get to see 2B go down the Eeveelution rabbit hole. So many variations, so many factors to consider

Copied from Bulbapedia entry: "Honedge is said to have been born from a person's soul after they were killed by the sword that it resides in. Its sash is prehensile, and it holds its sheath with it when battling. Honedge is known to wrap its sash on people's arms and suck their life energy if they dare to grab it by the hilt." Aura=Life Energy, 2B's aura is a converted fusion reactor/power cell I think you said? So 2B actually having more than enough energy/aura to not mind (or notice)/be bothered by the amount drained, and the Honedge deciding to let her wield it in exchange for "feeding" it. Plus she'd be teaching it how to better wield itself in a way too. Plus I just figured 2B using a weapon form pokemon to attack other pokemon would be more socially acceptable than 2B making/using actual weapons to attack pokemon. She seems the type to get directly involved, and to need the force multiplier that is a weapon to directly confront some of the more problematic opponents she may face. A newly evolved and stick gyarados is one thing, a raging high level swarm of them would be a whole different issue, and one she'd be likely to directly fight at the side of her pokemon team rather than just giving orders from behind. That's what I have been expecting to be one of the ongoing struggles for 2B to adapt to in the change from android to human. Not directly being expected to be a part of a fight let alone actually joining in
