Hey, everyone! I'm curious about how you folk are feeling about the characters. I know these kinds of things are popular and I've never done one. So, I thought it’d be fun to try a few polls during my editing marathon. 

Of the side characters in the current arc, who’s your favorite?

Also, let me know what are the characters from previous books that you’d like to see the most again.

I always thought it was so weird to have Kai call Professor Thornwyn "Jolene" without properly getting to know her first or become further acquainted with her. Not to mention the slight in propriety. Kinda creepy to be honest, lets hope she doesn't become a female lead or something

Uh… she’s a professor. Not a teacher. It’s pretty normal to call them by their first names. But she is in no way a love interest. She’s like, 50.

Rain's background would be interesting to see. What's happening beneath the waves? Are they looking for him? Or is it "boys will be boys..." and life goes on? Or maybe even "yay, one competitor less"?

Doubt anyone's gonna read this, but please don't pull a mushoku tensei and have Mat and Val date any time soon. Wait until they're like 25 or something, and if that's not reasonable then just have Mat reject her advances and pivot to a different love interest. I think Val is a great character, but given that Mat was like 16 or something before reincarnating he is effectively twice her age and it would be really uncomfortable if he essentially grooms her (even if he is characterized as being oblivious to her advances it would still be really gross)

I don’t think it’s accurate to say he’s 35. He’s never experienced life as anything other than as a child, and in both cases it was as a child outside the normal lived experience and with very little social interaction with people his own age. I’d argue that she actually has more social and relational experience than him. The only place he has more knowledge and experience is in earth memes and dangerous situations, neither of which would create a power imbalance in a relationship between the two that could be considered grooming. Kai never grew past a teenager in either life so I don’t think it’s strange for him to be attracted to a teenager. It would be much different if he was an adult in his original life. It would’ve been weird if he had any attractions to anyone while still children for sure, but I think they’re both old enough to make reasonable decisions. That being said I also think it would be unethical for him to develop a relationship without telling her about his past life so she has all the same info he does.

Flynn is my least facborite character through 5 books. He’s gotten better, he’s finally tolerable but my favorite chapters that have less Flynn in it.

I also miss Ele. The oldest sister. Hard chance seeing her anytime soon. And Kea, Alana and Moui. I like all of them. Huge fan of Rain. I like Valea too. But god, please reduce Flynn as much as possible. I’m glad he’s less arrogant, smug and less likely to just take Kai’s things. But he’s never been put in his place or been given boundaries. He always just gets away with anything. He’s my least favorite character by far.
