Thanks for the chapter. I'm looking forwards to the space magic lesson. That'll be interesting! I have 1 question. How did the student who came back to class (Elcarin I think?) spot Kai in the running crowd? I thought he'd cloaked himself by then and was running in the shadow of another person to help hide.

I'm guessing the Dean himself is teaching or at least one of his House members. I wonder if we'll finally learn about Bert in this course? Great chapter and I'm looking forward to Kai coming to terms with popularity.

The chapter's title and Kai's conversation with Aiden do imply some manner of Blackwoods sponsorship on the horizon, and as was previously pointed out, Kai's sponsorship with Valela is non-exclusive. Still, I hardly see a point aside from a narrative excuse to interweave a Blackwoods subplot into the story. Which is reason enough for me, but Kai would need a motive for something like that; maybe access to specialized alchemy skill paths.

I'm not sure if it was commented on but what exactly can you do with Credits of Merit? I believe someone said something about tuition and I know Rain used it to change rooms but what else can be done with it? I'm curious what Kai actually has as a reward since it's apparently valuable.

1. Total merits earned is tracked, independently of what is spent 2. I think you need a certain amount of total merits to stay in the school. 3. You can spend merits for things that were on the reward list for the trial, for example, the reward Kai chose probably cost more than 10000 merits

Sounds lame, the Blackwoods are a big fish in a tiny pond and it'd be dumb for Kai to sign with them for anything more than a very temporary position. He'd still gonna explore the world right? He's in a weak kingdom, he can't stay
