I'm posting this publicly so that anyone who's still unable to read Super Supporter tier posts after the billing pause last month will hopefully see it. It seems there's a Patreon hiccup affecting some people. If you're still listed as a subscriber, but you're not able to read the new chapters (we're on 216 now, for reference), then the quickest solution is going to be cancelling and resubscribing.

As far as I know, nobody this has happened to has been charged since the pause, despite it saying you're subscribed. So that's good at least!

But I am back, there are new chapters about Alden, and cancelling and resubscribing has worked for others in the same situation.

If you're someone this happened to, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. You're always welcome to send me a message when things like this come up.

And absolutely send me one if you were charged and unable to read!

Special Note for ios App Users:

Apple now adds a significant fee to new Patreon subscriptions purchased through the ios app. I'm still thinking about how to handle this in the future, but for now, the Super Supportive Patreon will cost several dollars less per month when you subscribe (or resubscribe) through the Patreon website or through an Android app instead.

The website is going to be the safest option, nothing's really stopping Google from later doing the same thing to subscriptions through Google Play.

Julia

For future reference, one of my other subscriptions has given up using the pause function when he takes the month off because it always goes wrong. His subscribers either cancel and rejoin, or (like me) take it as a part of the annual subscription

Despite me not joining until after the "off month" had started, I'm happy to say that I am not having any problems accessing new chapters nor have I received the special message noting that I'm still not getting charged. (Also, I saw the Patreon debit on my bank's website, so there's that too.)

Man, I totally forgot to check back in to see if the break was over. Glad you're back! Definitely gonna enjoy the backlog lol 😁

A little note for iOS app users: I use android but I also strictly use web-based browsing for Soup on Patreon and it works great, at least as usable as the web-based browsing experience on Royal Road.

S

Besides, why give Patreon app-level access to your phone?

Joshua clark

Woah, happened to me! Excited for the backlog of chapters, in some ways it’s a gift Patreon has given me! Also, I totally second the idea of just not pausing - I’m supporting the author, and your bills don’t stop when you take a break.

If you have presbyopia web based browsing actually works better because you can use the reader mode and increase the font size (which Patreon doesn't allow since they don't care about people with vision problems according to their support)

Dash of Salt

Yeah, this happened to me too, fixed it last week. Curious if everyone else's charge day was 24th (the day it was turned back on

Devin

Honestly it works better. You have reader mode in browser where you can customize your font and it will remeyuour position if you have to close the app.

GryphonKnight

On my iPad, the browser automatically loads the app for redirects when I click on notifications about likes, and replies, to my comments If I uninstall the app, the redirect just fails If I remember correctly, the browser, and app, on my iPad also load the comment section in two different ways, so one may be preferable to the other for each reader

Unsubscribed and resubscribed on website!

J

I believe as long as the subscription is started on the website instead of the app (can even be on a separate device) then the iOS fee never applies.

Jacks

I unsubscribed and resubscribed on the web but it just charged me more. Should I have not used an iPhone at all?

One day Alden will protect a pole from a large object attached to its head, giant mallet rabbit! Getting a special wright-craft giant mallet head that you can screw a broom handle into and using that as a weapon makes for some serious combat potential to test after the rope.
