merci!

Michaellogan

Thanks for the chapter!!

abowden

I'm... I'm... GONNA SOUP! But.... Another skip day... Sadge At least Alden is finally going to that book club. I was kind of surprised he didn't do it last chapter.

Cyrus McEnnis

Yeeeees Alden's first minion.

Jess

IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING! After 200 chapters of waiting! Alden found a book club!!! Good call passing on the autobiography, though. Who'd want to read a whole book about him?

Jess

She has no idea what she's signed up for. But I think she can handle it.

jarwain

Thanks for the broth!

Nathan

Thanks Sleyca!

TDMC

Alden is so happy right now… oh no

puppy0cam

I know right! From what I've read, his life must be *so* boring.

SpitEoll

That's the intensity level 4 he asked for, so happy for Alden !

Topher

Thank you for the chapter. Kabir felt so much for Alden in that last scene, beautifully written

Quý Lưu Thanh

Poor Lute, keep getting throwing shade at 😂

Glitter Rabbit (C)

Emilija is now a personal assistant. I love that for her. First one with a real job. Hopefully her hourly rates reflect her talent and hard work.

Ploddingpanda

Thank you Sleyca!! I'm glad Alden is enjoying his vacation, and finally finding a book club to join! Though his definition of normal is definitely abnormal, taking into account his lunch choice. That pasta sounds tasty though. Does anyone have a good recipe for a similar pasta?

Andrew Tobin

Lute is living a soup existence too!

Hayden Pech

Man I’m excited for the talk with the Knight!

Riandisa

Book club! I'll be curious to see if they're reading a classic or something newer.

ImNotHere

Sleep well after this nice chapter and make nice dream about soup

Darryl Greensill

Alden should introduce Natalie to Kabir. Just because Natalie has a cooking superpower doesn’t mean she necessarily has the technical skills of a cook!

syn

<< Like you told the boy you burdered, >> she said. << At the Rabbit Welcome. >> This being translated implies there is an equivalent pun in Lithuanian and that the system has been tracking their conversations closely enough to identify the pun and translate it back into their personal inside joke.

Obbu

Edit Suggestion: This was the third or forth time they had combined their mutual uncertainties to make a decision about what her duties and powers were. ->This was the third or fourth time they had combined their mutual uncertainties to make a decision about what her duties and powers were.

Aster

Thanks for the chapter!

FrostBite

I’m loving Alden having his shit together. Can’t wait for the affixation to potentially ruin all of that.

A Free Skeleton

Definitely the hardest I've ever laughed at a book club advertisement.

WannaBeATree

That would be actually crazy, now that you mention it. Not just translating, but translating with each unique context... woa. The complexity of translation would explode. Though the system does fail sometimes by going too literal. Maybe it just reads minds sometimes? At least there is some kind of mechanic/training involved in messaging someone without a keyboard. So somewhere something does change and/or improve. Even the Primary wasn't happy with one instance of system translation, so not sure how the system translation rules would actually look like in practice except being optimal towards some goal.

Zach Joe

I bet you could make this a bit like a pesto. Blender garlic and mushrooms. Then add almond butter, blender it slowly while adding olive oil. Add parmesan/spices to suit your taste. Might need a vegan replacement for cheese, though. Also I bet Lute would prefer if you used banana, cookie butter and chocolate instead of garlic, almond butter and mushroom.

pierre boucheron

She's obviously working hard to acquire them so she'd probably be pretty excited to meet (work with?) Kabir, yes. But she doesn't have acces to Matadero and the wizards would probably politely riot if Alden tried to steal their cook. It sadly seems that their meeting will be postponed for now.

Francis

Finally Alden achieved what he wanted with the nightmare. Together with whatever magic Yenu did on him, he might actually be close to being completely healed

Sesharan

I’m a little emotional at Alden finding a new reason to chase strength. Looking to grow so that he could escape the next disaster was maybe not the most healthy way for him to deal with the trauma from his previous disasters. Wanting to grow so that he can be strong enough to show mercy is much closer to the person Alden truly is (or at least wants to be).

Kooikerhondjelover

He now gets two weeks of level 4 entertainment as part of his choosing season. I assume he gets bored with it soon and actively seeks more meaningful activities like the hospital work before choosing higher onus.

Jakc

I am now curious what was the hard thing Sleyca struggled last time.

Kemlion

I wonder how mosquitos would react to broth blood 🦟

David

Emilija and Lexi will be the founding members of a support group for people who got pulled into way more drama than they expected because they took Alden’s innocence at face-value “Lexi’s face was doing things so expressive they almost had sound effects: Ugh. No. Stupid globie. What is he? Why is he? Why did I let him be my roommate? He told me he had a cat like that might be a dealbreaker, but he never mentioned all the wizards.” At least Emilija knows about some of the wizards beforehand.

denatured

Book club. She started writing a whole new book so there could be a book in the book.

Robert Mullins

Oh yes, Alden Is absolutely getting a level up notification at the end of his break.

J Reynolds

What would be the title of a Jeffy biography? * Don't Overthink - Overdo * Jeffy got in! * Strength and Wisdom of the Ocean

Sky23

Does anyone else feel like something big is coming?

zetorian

I am here for the 'Emilija finds her place in rabbit society' arc. Being an F has got to be hard in so many ways on super hero island and she's been taking it like a champ. Positioning herself as a personal assistant / summoning fixer is something I could see her being legit happy and successful with.

VP

This is the time between arcs. The meal at Maricel's favorite restaurant kind of time. And last time Sleyca sank an island, so it is normal to be a bit expecting

Alex Scriber

Raised by Sharks Overdo (once I copied this but it’s different because it’s shorter so there ) Cast Hard (hmm, that sounds more like Jeffy’s superhero name) Just Jeff

VP

If he does get a 'we need to give your bounded authority a bit of a trim' notice again (not affixation, we still have time for that) I think it is time for him to update his fake level

zdm

In the depths of the soup, I learned that Lute is Alden's blood broth-er.

Matt DiMeo

I love that they keep using “burdered”.

PatienceHoney

I completely agree. She has a wonderful attitude and I can see why she and Alden work well together.

Clint

Even if he just masters that summoning spell, and wants to use it in class, he’ll have to pretend to level to add a fake new spell impression to his sheet. I love the idea of people congratulating him on reaching level 4 so fast, when he’s really level 11 or whatever it is.

denatured

I'm somewhat tickled by the fact that Alden is running an action packed time-loop-to-perfection story in the background as a side quest, and in the main story he's answering emails.

Melissa Kehl

Thanks for the chapter. I am curious what the book is for book club. Loved the scene with Alden stopping by the cube for lunch with Kabir. Good to see him have some truly low intensity time, since much of the rest of his time is high intensity by anyone else's standards.

Npf

Emiljia is going to be like his votary. I love it.

Lystic

Would be funny if it were The Great Gatsby. Either he'd groan because he already spent a semester on it, or be excited that he's already prepared to talk about it.

Lystic

What's the book club book? Wrong answers only.

Lystic

Sharon's autobiography, titled: Sharon by Sharon.

Val

This one felt extra short

David

I really enjoyed this chapter. It introduced a couple of complexities that weren’t obvious (to me, at least) until I sat and really thought about them. Last chapter, I was relieved to see Alden’s apparent mental health improvement. I’m becoming afraid that he might be getting ahead of himself. He’s been suffering for such a long time that I’m not sure he ever knew what a healthy baseline should be. The Thegund trauma is just the newest in a tragically long list. I’m worried that impractical expectations of magical healing and his desire to be free are leading him to conflate the alleviation of the more obvious symptoms (eg constant anxiety over his schedule, nightmares, insomnia) with being whole. That could have dire implications for his choosing season. The other worry I have for him is about the goal of being someone who is strong enough to show mercy. It’s a worthy thing to want: to be strong, to be merciful. But, for Alden, I think this mentality is not quite right. It is natural for the Bearer of All Burdens to be enticed by the idea that he needs to gain strength before he can provide a service. I think in many cases that is true for him. However, if he contemplated the here-to-there under the Weight, I think he would realize that he is contaminating a good experience with a bad one. The mercy and strength philosophy that Alden is pursuing actually came from the Executioner (who came across as a less-than-stellar role-model for our young rabbit!): [“The strong may pull mercy from their pockets without noticing a loss,” Vill-ma said. “Be at ease, accused one. You kneel before the Artonan people, and we are strong.] (It’s worth noting that she, likely, means that their empire’s strength is proven after subjugating many worlds. Most of what I have to say about that is not relevant to this topic, but suffice it to say that this is a flavor of mercy that Alden wouldn’t appreciate.) Ryada showed him “a weakness in his own compassion” that he wants to correct. But the compassion she showed was not a show of strength. It was an act of sacrifice: she is sticking to her path, even as it leads her deeper into a place of misery. While that is a show of strength — one that Alden would find more palatable — it’s not the kind of strength he is trying to accrue. In short, my concern is that Alden seems to be pursuing the idea of mercy from the perspective of a wizard rather than from the perspective of a knight, which is in conflict with his personality. It’s true that there is nothing to be done for the corrupted Bokabv other than to provide it a clean end. Maybe I’m over-analyzing. However, Alden recently had a chance to show mercy. He even had the strength to do so, yet he declined. The only cost to him would have been to contradict Stuart and allow Olget a lighter sentence. Stuart made an excellent case. In my opinion, they made the correct decision. Olget deserved what he got, and in all likelihood, he got less than he deserved. But if he didn’t deserve it, then it wouldn’t be mercy. (Mercy is an interesting concept in the context of the Artonan culture of contracts and obligations. Maybe I’ll speculate on that another time, but this comment is already much too long for something I typed on my phone…) I wonder if Alden’s sudden interest in mercy shows any guilt over how the Olget incident played out. From an American perspective, having such a quick trial, when emotions are still hot, with the affected party as an effective prosecutor, especially for one with the privilege of an art’h, where the defendant has a scant hour to prepare and is punished for submitting evidence or calling witnesses in his defense… such a process is extremely alien and unjust. Does some part of him regret that he was so quick to condemn Olget? Or does it stem from his fears about how the universe seems to be out to get him (to be fair, it is). His thought from the last chapter about how he wishes the current would stop forcing bad choices on people could be an indication of this.

J Reynolds

[Micro-fan fiction] Alden walked back to his room at Matadero, deep in thought about his conversation with Esh-erdi. -He made so many good points. Maybe I'll think about them during my next healing session with Yenzu-peth.- He entered his room. There was a paper beaker on his bedside table. The smell of vegan hot chocolate was in the room. "Hey System. When we talk in my dreams, could I make a request? Could we talk somewhere nice? I'm thinking we could go to..." ------ Where should Alden have the dream meeting? My vote: patio at Chateau Lake Louise in August. Super beautiful location. Alden isn't likely to see it IRL, so he's got to get his Earth tourism in somehow.

Elle

I assumed his mercy concept was,"pull the bandaid quickly." Olget showed repeated disrespect for knights. If Alden analyzed it more he could have come up with more crimes.

Elle

I like the secret part where Kabir is too.

Matt V

I was hoping we'd see what Emilija's job looked like! And I'm happy to see their collab will continue moving forward. I hope Alden uses his sudden surplus of free time to hang with the rabbit ladies some more. I think they're good for him - a dose of normal he doesn't get from Stu or his roommates and hero school classmates. It was also nice to see Alden look ahead to future summonings without the dread or panic that used to accompany such thoughts. It really feels like Alden is in a healthy place now. Which means it's time for him to start panicking again because that's when Sleyca strikes with a new disaster. Who's running the betting pool on what the next crisis is?

Pedro Henrique

What happens once Alden does affixate? He wont be able to use his skill for a few weeks afterward.

Msharlo1

My money is on a Chaos Volcano and a Winston villan arc.

Msharlo1

Pompei as it is erupting. (You cannot expect the Earth System to be perfect overnight, even if Alden asks for something scenic)

Aspiring Moth

he'll do it over the summer holiday most likely, so there won't be any issues with school. and he'll be given time off from summoning for recovery just like last time

zoarian

Emilija saying "I can deal with those" was pure Dragon Rabbit vibes

Npf

I'm thinking about the all the recent S rank stuff with Elites and political figures talking about leveling more and huge incoming classes of S ranks to hero programs... I don't know how all of that will play out in the story or affect Alden, but I wonder if him ranking up and being obviously really impressive will become a talking point for hero program faculty or other people who want the focuses on S's to go away. Like "look, this kid is a B rank AND a rabbit, and look what he's done. We shouldn't stop letting B's in when they might be this dedicated and do this well in our program" or something. Obviously they don't know the real reasons for his growth so they might take the credit.

Npf

As a side note, I do love how the faculty have been written. They're so thoughtful and take their jobs so seriously, and most of them are actually just pretty great, even if they didn't seem that way at first (@Klein). I don't actually think the faculty we've met would take credit for Alden's successes in a way that feels bad, but they might think he's proof that B's should still be allowed in the school.

retrorocket0

Shouldn't alden be able to feel that with his authority sense? I feel like it is a bit too early unless something happens. Especially since sinker sender arc wasn't being oppressed by chaos which apparently helps level up and it still took alden like 9 months the first time.

Aspiring Moth

Emilija feels like the most developed character out of the rabbit girls at this point. I hope we get more of her, and I hope the other two get enough screen time to be fleshed out more

Tifer

I am surprised Alden hasn't at least tried embracing the path of highest onus yet. He seems so intelligent and mature, and we know he values lots of things more than his own life and comfort, but he still can't bring himself to consider that people are out there fighting or fleeing chaos and he could be helping. More than that, he is not a stranger to the fear of being powerless. He seems to have gotten over it prematurely. He is homebrewing magic lessons in his dorm at night when what he needs is emergency remedial lessons. He's developing BoaB only as fast as he can figure out how it works--meanwhile, for all he knows the Artonans have whole libraries written solely about his skill and all its possible and historic uses. I think the Quiet Rabbit protocol implies that there's something the Contract knows that we don't, or that there's some benefit to Alden being left alone that I'm not considering. Still, it feels like if he'd let the mask slip just a little bit, someone could tell Alden things that might shake him out of his attachment to (super) ordinary teenage life.

Npf

I don't really think this is probably happening, but it would be interesting if the stabilizing effect on *him* that Gorgon and the System both had could affect his mental health at all. He's put plenty of introspection and effort and magical healing toward overcoming trauma, but this interaction with Kabir kind of brings up how wild it is that he's been as functional and thoughtful and capable of dealing with overwhelming disasters all along. It's probably more a character trait thing than something that needs this kind of explanation, but it's still interesting to think about.

ThoMiCroN

If Alden always refuse to discuss his past with the media, he will lose the initiative and there will be no other version than Winston’s that will circulate. Even if he remains very private in his life he can’t set the record straight if he always stay silent.

zombie

Setting records straight can become a full time job, especially at the tempo that Winston puts put bullshit. Ignoring and letting it die is the smartest thing. (Besides, not as if these lies truly harm Esherdi or truly cause problems for Alden

Cassie Brooks

FULL CIRCLE!!! We got the book club!!!! This is real “end of book 3” energy if we’re making books out of these chapters

Trin

I keep having to remind myself Kabir is a brute and not another food wizard rabbit.

Sébastien Kingsbury

I think some of that disconect comes from the fact that the pacing of the story means a lot more time has passed for us readers since moon thegund than for Alden in world. We know he has a decision to make and he's given himself a bit of a deadline because of stu, but it hasn't even been a year in the story since the moon fiasco right?

Terrestrial_Biped

I mean... he is doing meaningful stuff. Skill practice. Magic study. Hospital volunteering. Cleaning his inbox so he doesn't lose opportunities he'd want. Actually exploring the island that will be his home for decades, probably. This is less like him spending two weeks on the couch and more like him getting to catch up on all the stuff he missed.

Traytray

I’m looking back on Kibby and I’m confused on what she knows about Avowed. She didn’t know why they can’t perform magic, then taught Alden authority sense to perform magic, and Alden tells her to keep it a secret. But does she really know what it actually means? Alden says she didn’t know any better. Does she just think Alden’s a hybrid Avowed/wizard? Does she still not know how Knights are created? Did I miss it or something? Guys… is Kibby in for a rough realization that she inadvertently sent her best friend Alden on a lifelong journey of pain? How will this all pan out? I hope she doesn’t blame herself.

Robert Mullins

Oh she's absolutely in for a rough realization. That's a moment I've been anticipating for a while.

MWF

One of the interesting influences on Alden's personality that is only hinted at once in awhile is probably the unsung heroes of the Chicago school system. Connie was a swinging 20-something who didn't really know how to deal with the traumatized 8-year-old plopped in her life unexpectedly, so it wasn't her who helped him work through the grief and trauma. Granted, she gave him a home and loved him so she deserves some credit for that but she neglected him quite a bit too which shows a certain selfishness that makes me think she didn't help him do that emotional work with him. Likewise, Hannah inspired him a lot but he reached out to her years later and they only talked intermittently. Somebody helped him learn to navigate the emotional outbursts and panic attacks he had in the wake of his parents' deaths and it was probably mostly the school therapist and some kind teachers. They seem to have taught him breathing exercises, helped him out when he had angry outbursts, had therapy sessions in which he could talk about his problems and brainstorm solutions etc. We mostly skipped over this period but I imagine that a lot of the near preternatural maturity and calmness he shows most of the time comes from the experience of living through something so horrible and having to learn how to cope with it. Like he told frozen-Kibby, the day of the chaos outbreak on Thegund was the worst day of her life but only the second-worst day of his. Well, that combined with being the child of a somewhat broken home. Being the weird kid who isn't living a "normal" life and shows some signs of neglect, you learn the hard way to develop a sixth sense for what normal should look like to avoid the awkward silences. Staying quiet in new situations until you have a sense of what the normal people are doing, for instance. Faking normal becomes a default and it's especially important when people are asking if you're ok because if you're honest that can open a real nasty can of worms. Do that long enough and it becomes an engrained habit, one that actually gets more pronounced in response to stress. One of the subtler aspects of this series I didn't appreciate until I'd reread it is that you can actually notice when Alden feels safe to be open and honest because he gets goofier. This chapter is a decent example, it's not normal to be this jazzed to be doing what you want but Alden has built up a good support structure and he's starting to feel safer about openly expressing his feelings. The filter loosens some and that's ok. It's strange to other people though because they're used to the more "normal" version. The Boe-on-Anesidora chapters are the best examples of though. Alden threatens to weaponize his trauma on Boe, he has a panic attack in front of him, he argues with him, he shares his secrets with him, he bursts into tears and actually laments what he's lost in front of him. Boe is probably the only person in the entire universe he truly feels emotionally safe enough around to be completely 100% honest with and it really shows.

Lyssur

I love the fact that his skill has nothing to do with food, that he's a chef because he loves food and feeding people. It's such a wonderful contrast to almost everybody else we've met, who end up building thier lives around their skill.

natalie

"keeping Victor if your roommates can’t…" Is Jeremy even planning to send Victor now? it's been so long since Victor was sent back that he's already a cat thief at this point. is it for narrative reasons? maybe the cat's gonna come back with a passenger? not come at all? maybe he'll wait until Anesidora survives the next disaster? #bringvictorback

Terrestrial_Biped

Victor got sent back to Chicago 11/3, and today in-story is 12/20, so about 6-7 weeks ago. Alden nominally sent him back so he could have a chance to adjust to dorm life better, and the floods happened 11/17 which further disrupted things here, so it's not exactly implausible that Alden forgot to claim he's all settled in and ask for Victor back. Here, have a timeline! https://coral-sheree-56.tiiny.site

AutumnLeaves

Natalie now has competition in my mind (Kabir) for being Alden's spaceship chef. (J/k - We all know Natalie would love it, so Alden couldn't leave her behind.)

AutumnLeaves

Oh! Maybe he could be her sous chef. ... someone mentioned he's a Brute. I can't recall what kind, but maybe he could be a kitchen bodyguard?

Casey

I hope Alden has the best christmas ever. :)

Listerine

“I met a nurse who told me Anesidora sends medical personnel to set up temporary healing hospitals in other countries.” I bet Alden presenting his skill as a useful medical tool is another way he could get an address off Anesidora, if he so desires. Celebrity superheroism probably isn’t the only option for him

Super Super Supportive Supporter

Chapter 856: Alden: At last, after my fourth affixation, rank up, and subsequent recovery, I am strong enough to show mercy… Third year gym finals: Alden vs Winston duel, same as every single semester because the teachers are fun like that Alden: …but that can wait a few minutes longer.

Jess

The strong may pull mercy from their pockets. Unfortunately for Winston, Alden's gym suit doesn't have those.

Aspiring Moth

I hope we get to see some fallout from the Winston duel. Next chapter will start with the Esh-erdi meeting probably, but there's one more gym session tomorrow where it might come up. maybe at an end of term meal like the pizza party?

J Reynolds

It will be interesting if Esh wants to talk to Alden about BoaB. "I've finally figured out your skill. It's totally neat" And all Alden can say is "I hate Worli Ro-den." Amusingly, Ro-den is still in Matadero / Anesidora (I think, anyway).

Lystic

I bet he has to teleport back and forth for classes so he's probably hovering between worlds. Doesn't he run into Alden when he's going to the teleportation Bay?

J Reynolds

One of the Boater members (Chris) works in the main hospital on the island. Ch 36. I bet he makes a comeback sometime.

PatienceHoney

I know it is a skip day, but I still keep showing up here looking for soup dribbles...

G

Does anyone remember what chapter the Chicago trip offer was in?

Stuart Brown

One day Sleyca will be "PSYCHE, here is a chapter for the real die-hards:"

Matt DiMeo

I have just decided, and now publicly declare, that the most important thing I want to happen in this story is for esh erdi to participate in the superhero snowball fight. So let it be written.

PatienceHoney

Yes! We have figured it out! That is why it is called Super Supportive. Because Esh is going to support the supers' snowball fight. All of this stuff with Ponzi (Lesser Alden) is one really big red herring... Sleyca really had us fooled for a while!

JJ Hunter

Emilija the professional! Still a pun artist extraordinaire, but now she's getting paid to help protect her other celebrity friend's time and sanity from the firehose of public interest. Internet moderation, inbox management, miscellaneous Earth affairs assistance on short notice- Emilija is taking on critical support work here; I'm glad they're both taking care to make sure she's well-compensated for it. Not every high school part-time job becomes a career, but this one seems like a particularly good match for now. I feel like Emilija may have more scope for her own heroics partnering with Alden like this than she currently expects - 'not all heroes wear capes' indeed.

puppy0cam

Chapter Predictions!

puppy0cam

When the bargain is flawed (when the imposter is sus dun dun dun dun dun dun dun. dun dun dun) chapter title: acquiesce Alden completely neglects to mention to esh about his allergy to flawed contracts. Contract Earth to Contract I; a personal request has been detected from Esh-erdi Esh, being the troll he is, tries to insist on a batshit crazy looking contract tattoo on Alden's forehead Turns out, that commendation is more than just a piece of paper that says "sorry for the bad things that happened to you" The gremlin completely exhausts Esh's unbound authority. Aulia shows up at matadero to take her chef back just to spite Alden's internal monologue.

Terrestrial_Biped

Yeah. Note that "keeping annoying people away" is something Emilijia was doing for Natalie for free, and it's basically what she's now doing for Alden. Her willingness to duke it out with the pests is a key part of what makes her qualified here.

J Reynolds

In Ch. 197, Kon thinks: 'Yes, buy me the nauseatingly expensive class trade I’ve always wanted. Yes, of course I’m –so– excited. Yes, let’s talk CNH applications. Let’s do it all.' Parents on Anesidora must consider buying their kids their class trades right from birth based on their guess-rank. I would imagine that the Anesidoran government has some kind of savings plan that parents contribute to so that when little Johnny wants to trade for the class they want, they have some means to pay for it. Maybe called a Tax Free Super Account (TFSA. Canadian readers are laughing right now). I'm guessing that Kon's parents selected the A-rank package. Then Kon came along and (1) was S-rank, and (2) wanted Adjuster, a highly desirable class. So a double-whammy. I wouldn't be surprised if banks on Anesidora also have rapid loans available for parents in this system. Like a mortgage that parents can sign up for & get pre-approved in every way, so that when their kid is selected, the parents can pull the trigger and get the loan immediately.

TheLunaticCo

It is now Thursday in Australia time to start refreshing!

Aspiring Moth

At S rank it's more to do with luck than money, although money certainly helps. When Alden was looking at class trades, there were only 3 S ranks actively trading, and one was the bridge wright. Imagine being in the position of having an S rank sway class assignment that you didn't want. If Mina's family didn't force her to take sway, that person would have likely been out of luck regardless of any money. Kon getting adjuster is probably more to do with the person who had adjuster wanting another class more, since adjuster can be built in so many ways that most people would be happy with it

SnuggleCat

Today is Wednesday! 🎉🎊🎇

I doffs me cap to your righteousness and rigour. Captn Thunderbolt would approve, the early bird gets the thoroughbred

Aspiring Moth

it's a decade too late for me to reference the "it's Wednesday, my dudes" meme, isn't it (also welcome back!)

MysticallMist

Today is Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (In Sweden)

JennP

Im still kind of expecting Winston to speed tackle Alden on his way to class

MWF

So if Alden is the universe's first human knight, I think Emilijia just became the universe's first human votary without knowing it. Edit: yes am late to the party pointing this out.

MWF

She'd totally be the heroine of another story between the excitement of being chosen, the awesome roomies, the friendship with Rabbit Robinson Crusoe, the probable angst of being caught between the high ranks and the low ranks, being crushed on by a cute artsy angsty rich S-rank chainer, and surviving a disaster. I mean everyone in the soupverse is interesting but Emilijia is really up there. And she doesn't even know she just added another outrageous thing to the list.

Vysirez

Just finished reading this, kept getting distracted when I tried to read it. I like that you had Alden recognize that while surviving is clearly important, surviving without compromising yourself is almost as important.
